"I specially invited sophomore Ginjo Sousuke to train with us today."

Lisa Shiraishi's clear voice rang out beside me, drawing the attention of the swimsuit-clad water polo team. The humid air of the indoor pool carried the faint smell of chlorine, and with all these girls lined up in one place… let's just say my mind was not in "pure sports training" mode.

"Ginjo-san is a very skilled swimmer," Lisa continued, her long black hair tied into a neat ponytail that swayed with every movement. "So today we will focus on helping you train in that area. If you have any questions, you can always ask Ginjo-san for help."

My name was already something of a rumor around school thanks to… well, some incidents I'd rather not recall. But still, Lisa-senpai made the introduction as if it was some kind of ceremonial ritual.

"Sugoi~!"

"Ginjo-kun is amazing!"

"I also want Ginjo-kun's guidance!"

The girls' reactions exploded almost instantly, like someone had tossed fireworks into a bathhouse. Shiny eyes. Playful smiles. And swimsuits that left absolutely zero room for my brain to focus on "proper sportsmanship."

"Then I would like to invite Ginjo-san to explain today's training to everyone," Lisa said, stepping aside and gesturing for me to come forward.

…Crap. Time to actually be the responsible guy they think I am. Not the… other kind.

I cleared my throat twice.

Cough, cough.

"Hello everyone. Today I'm here at the request of Shiraishi-senpai to help with your training," I began, trying to keep my eyes from wandering to the far-too-interesting horizon line of skin and spandex. "As you know, swimming skills are vital for water polo. But there's another skill just as important… and that's what I'd like to focus on first."

"Eh? More important than swimming? Is it passing the ball? Shooting?"

Curious voices chimed in.

"Nope. Treading water."

I could see the surprise ripple across their faces. "In water polo, you can't just float around waiting for the ball. You need to stay in position and stable the whole time—treading water is essential."

That was one of the many things I learned from binge-watching tutorials last night. Turns out, water polo isn't just "swim, grab ball, shoot." It's more like "stay alive in constant motion while looking cool."

"So it's treading water…" they murmured, nodding.

"Alright, explanation done. Let's start." I glanced at Lisa, who immediately understood and began organizing the team.

Warm-up came first. Jogging laps around the pool. Which meant… an entire parade of bouncing motion happening right in front of me.

Stay focused, Sousuke. This is training. Training.

Then stretching in pairs—back presses, leg stretches. Swimsuits pulled, hips flexed—okay, maybe I wasn't helping myself.

Finally, we moved to actual treading-water practice. I had the girls sit at the pool's edge, legs raised.

"Spread your legs wider than your shoulders, knees bent," I instructed, demonstrating first, then walking along the line to adjust each person's form.

"Your legs aren't wide enough—wider."

"Yes, that's good."

"Your knee's stiff—relax it."

Sometimes that meant holding a leg and guiding it into place, sometimes giving a gentle tap on the calf. And then… I got to Lisa-senpai.

Her long legs—slender, toned, and dazzling—rose gracefully above the water. My brain went quiet for a second.

Her cheeks flushed faintly as she noticed my lingering stare.

"Ginjo-san… how do my moves look?" Her voice was softer than usual, almost teasing.

"V-Very good! As expected of Shiraishi-senpai." I somehow got the words out.

I suggested we take the training into the water for actual practice. She agreed immediately, gathering the team.

The girls jumped in with cheerful shouts, splashing in unison. The surface glittered, as if the pool itself was applauding them.

Soon enough, calls for help rang out.

"Ah! Ginjo-kun, please help me!"

I swam over to a girl flailing, caught her under the arms, and guided her gently.

"Kick with the soles of your feet, bend them, and rotate. Don't lock your knees—keep them loose."

Her face brightened with realization. "Wow, I feel lighter! Like I can stand in the water!"

"Good. Keep it up."

Lisa-senpai swam over, her breathing a little quick from the pace.

"Your teaching is very successful, Ginjo-san. Leave the coaching above water to me. Go underwater and observe their leg movements."

"Underwater?" I repeated.

"Yes. You can't see properly from the surface."

…Underwater. Meaning a full, uninterrupted view of the team's movements from below. Which, in this particular environment, translated to…

"Got it." I adjusted my goggles, took a deep breath, and dove.

The moment I descended, the world turned into an entirely different scene. Sunlight from the ceiling windows broke into shimmering ribbons across the pool floor. Legs moved above me—some graceful, some frantic—and every movement caused ripples that distorted my view in… interesting ways.

From this angle, the "training session" felt less like work and more like… well, something else entirely.

This underwater world was… overflowing with spring.
