Chapter 251: 51st Scene: Catch Fish in Muddy Waters (Part 4)
The first skeleton extended its sword toward Brando at a slow pace, but Brando’s movement was ten times faster. The skeleton’s sword was still in mid-air when its bony hand was already severed, a white flame emerging from the joint. The flame quickly spread over its body, ignited by a silver light, causing it to burn.
In an instant, Brando rushed through seven skeletons. As soon as he sheathed his sword, the skeletal frames collapsed behind him.
However, the young man had no time to celebrate, for he had already seen that blood-red figure pursuing him at the corner.
22 energy levels of dexterity against less than 10, the Crusader Executioner raised his axe, slashing diagonally like a shadow— the ceiling crumbled in front of him, but that slight resistance was nothing to his dexterity. Brando had no room to dodge; all he could do was grit his teeth, reverse his grip, and clash his sword vertically with his full strength.
The Elf Sword and the massive axe met with a shrill, grating shriek, and the sword immediately bent backward at an odd angle. Brando felt his right hand shattering inch by inch as he instantly lost all sensation in that direction. He and his sword were flung backwards, crashing into the wall with a bang.
The only silver lining was that he happened to land near the Wind Spirit Spider resting by the door. He immediately gritted his teeth, climbed up, and commanded the Wind Spirit Spider to pounce as he rolled into the room. At that moment, he fervently hoped that Martha would bless him, as the room contained the Elemental Revelation Scrolls.
But as he rolled in, full of hope and raised his head, he saw the last thing he wanted to see.
A Spirit Statue turned its head from a mercenary’s corpse. It evidently did not expect anyone outside. This undead creature, holding a blood-dripping single scythe, turned back to stare at Brando with ghostly green flames in its eye sockets. The young man saw what it tightly clutched in its other hand.
A crystal clear orb with burning flames inside.
A Torch.
The Spirit Statue instinctively raised its scythe, but Brando reacted faster. He used his left hand to support the numb right hand— the agony nearly made him tremble— but he still gritted his teeth and shouted, “Oss!”
The room’s air compressed slightly in an instant before exploding with a bang. The gale created straight lines forward, the Spirit Statue’s armor shriveled, deformed, and then shattered, sending it flying to crash against the wall. The wall also caved in, disintegrating with a tremendous boom, creating a huge hole.
The strong wind formed a radial shockwave, destroying everything in its path. The Spirit Statue, with just upper Black Iron strength, was unlike a Stone Statue Ghost meant for defense, and it shattered instantly like the swordsman in Yusong Castle.
With a crack, the Spirit Statue, now half-bodied, knelt to the ground.
Brando then lunged forward, snatching the Torch from its hand. He didn’t know if this thing was useful, but he couldn’t afford to care. Turning around, he saw the Crusader Executioner at the door, gripping the shattered Wind Spirit Spider, green liquid dripping from its grasp.
That dreadful undead creature saw Brando cornered and sneered— not with intelligence, but with a dark creature’s instinctive bloodlust.
“Laugh at your sister,” Brando raised the Torch with his left hand and crushed it, biting his teeth.
The Crystal Ball shattered instantly, a fiery red aura spreading outward. The aura first passed over Brando, and within a breath expanded tenfold, sweeping over the Crusader Executioner. The monster had just raised its axe but then froze, as if hit by an immobilization spell.
In that moment, all the Wizards and Elemental Mages within tens of miles of Brags felt their Magic Power fluctuate, halting their work and looking toward Brags City.
The red aura expanded further, passing the auction house, covering the entire Hude District, then Brags City, and rapidly spreading over the Brags City Suburb, eventually slowing miles away and disappearing.
Though brief, all the soldiers in the Silver Winged Cavalry camps within Brags City saw their Shadow Hounds vaporize and vanish.
That was the power of Order.
Undead creatures also revered the sole True God, Martha, and like humans, they existed within the Order. The reformation of Order upon the Torch’s ignition should not affect what was already in Order. However, the Crusader Executioner was different.
It was a nest creature.
Man-made or natural, all nests but the sole Guardian Nest stemmed from Chaos, thus were the first hit when the Torch ignited. Lesser beings like Shadow Hounds couldn’t resist and were vaporized.
Similarly, the Crusader Executioner was temporarily immobilized by the severe impact.
As Brando saw, it took nearly 110 points of damage in that instant. The young man let out a breath of relief; at least he had gambled right, though no one would test something so costly as a Torch for such trivial things. Yet, some basic rules in this world remained unchanged.
Such as.
The absolute opposition of Chaos and Order.
The young man took a deep breath and then ran out for his life. He had little time; the Crusader Executioner wouldn’t stay immobile forever.
He had to find that Elemental Revelation Scroll quickly.
