CHAPTER 220: BLUE FLAMES

When they arrived at the building inside the forest, Riven was stunned. He had high expectations and this pretty much smashed all of them.

It had the ground floor and a second floor, built with some type of black bricks and a tile roof. It looked very sturdy.

Just from looking at it alone, he could see several runes inscribed onto the walls.

"This is the place, built with a template from a blacksmith shop at the capital. I managed to get my hands on it quick.

The walls are inscribed fully. It has mana absorption runes to pull mana into the building, it has soundproofing runes, it has heat-trapping runes and cooling runes. Beyond that, it also has several security runes.

They might be low-level magical runes, but they should get the job done. You can check the inside, I have to head back, there’s a lot of work to do," Riven’s father said and patted him on the back before leaving.

Riven stared at the building for a few more seconds and then walked toward it. He placed his hand on the wooden door and a magical formation activated under his palm and unlocked the door.

"Nice," he muttered before walking in. He was immediately stunned by what he saw. The ground floor was built as the smithy, everything that he needed was inside and there was a furnace at the back.

But he didn’t see any materials. He headed upstairs, and there he saw crates of iron and other alloys that he had asked for. He didn’t have the money for the rarer type of materials, but that was fine for now.

"This is a good starting point," Twilight said.

"Yup, I can start practicing right away, and you can also help me as I go along. It will be better that way," Riven said.

He picked up a box of iron and walked to the first floor. He placed it down and walked to the furnace.

"Normal flames work well for refining iron ores," Riven stated.

"Yes they do, but from your book, we already know that there are more flames that can be used," she said.

"Yeah, there are three main blacksmithing flames, red, blue, and white," Riven stated.

"So your goal should be to get a blue flame," Twilight stated.

"It’s not really hard based on what the books said," Riven said and brought out the book. He flipped through the pages and got to the point where it spoke of blue flames.

"There are several methods of gaining a blue flame for blacksmithing.

According to the book, I can use purified mana. The more purified the mana I use is, the more blue my flame will get.

My mana isn’t much, and I don’t have the techniques to purify my mana yet. I don’t even have good control over my mana," Riven stated.

Most of his mana was controlled with the help of the system. He had never learned how to actually control mana properly.

"I think learning mana control should be the next thing on your list, since you’ll be needing it in the future a lot," Twilight stated.

"Yeah, I’ve been using a lot of things as crutches. It’s time I actually learned how to use my mana," Riven said.

He read down to the second method to get blue flames. "The second method is using special materials to pull pure mana into the flames. The most popular method is the Azure Salt, it is the best when it comes to pulling purified mana," Riven stated. There was a depiction of the salt inside the book.

"The only issue is the cost, and it can only be used once as the flames destroy all the salt put inside the furnace," Riven said.

"Well, you can wait until you have made some money to get it, but you should have asked your father to get it," Twilight said.

"No, I already used my share to get this building and some starter materials. I can’t ask for more. Dad said I have to use what I earn to practice," Riven said, then he read down to see what was next.

"There is also using another element to merge with the flames in a perfect balance. Water is what is used. It creates a pseudo blue flame that works just as well, and can be used when you really need a blue flame quickly," Riven said.

"Yes, but for it, you’ll need to learn a new element," Twilight stated.

"That’s possible, but very few people actually do that, aside from mages, alchemists, and blacksmiths.

It’s really not worth it most of the time, especially to a battle mage. It takes creating a new mana logic in your body, and that’s really hard. Along the line, I’ll have to learn it, but not for now," Riven said. He read down to the next one.

"I can also use runes to get the flames, but I’ll need a fully inscribed furnace, and I don’t have the money for that. That’s another issue," Riven stated.

"Is that the last way to get the flames?" Twilight asked.

"Well no, the last way is through bloodline, something I don’t have, so we can leave that for now.

Later we can think about the blue flames. As for now, my normal flame will have to suffice," Riven said and then looked at the coals in the furnace. He pointed his hand at the coals and used his flames.

The coal lit and he threw the iron ingots inside to purify them.

He walked away, then pulled off his shirt. He needed to be free to work. He looked at the tool rack on the wall, his father had really gone all out to get what he needed.

"This is going to be a long process of learning," Riven said. He cracked his neck and picked up a hammer from the rack.

He flipped it into the air and caught it.

"I guess this is where your blacksmithing journey begins," Twilight said.
