CHAPTER 227: HELL HOUND

Riven looked at the knight, his face twisted into a tint of anger, he grabbed the knight by the neck and pulled him close.

"The hell do you mean? Do you really think that status is your problem? Don’t insult your fellow knights that have died for glory.

"You lazy bastard, rather than grow yourself into a warrior worthy of respect, you hate on those that have done nothing to you," Riven said.

"Screw you, kid, you got the best desk of life," the knight said.

Riven gritted his teeth. "I could go all out and tell you how skewed and weak your thinking is, but I would be doing you a great favor," Riven said.

"You’ll be coming to us where we left, we’ll hand you over to the capital and have you tried for attacking us," Noel said.

"And get executed in public? I’d rather die here and now with my sword lifted!" the knight yelled and tried to move, but Riven swept him off his feet in one move and slammed him into the ground.

"Gah!"

The man coughed as his back and head hit the ground. "If you really want to die, then make any funny move," Riven said, his killing intent pressing against the man. Beads of sweat formed on his face despite the cold of night.

They decided to tie up the knight for now, but suddenly, Riven and Noel felt a presence, something was headed for them, and fast.

They moved out of the way immediately, and an arrow stabbed into the heart of the knight and then exploded, killing him instantly.

The explosion woke up Sophie. She looked around in fear and saw both boys on one knee, looking at where the explosion happened. She saw blood and flesh.

The sight snapped her out of her sleep state immediately, she panicked and tried to get up.

"Stay down, Sophie!" Riven yelled. "Stay down and stay close to that carriage, do not move away." His tone was very serious, so she knew things were not alright.

She did what he said and scooted closer to the carriage. When she was there, Riven could finally focus and try to find out who had attacked.

He looked into the forest and spotted figures headed their way. He turned to look at Noel, "It’s an ambush of some sort, they are coming quick," Riven said.

"Do we stay and fight or do we run?" Noel asked.

"We fight. I’m not letting anyone mess with me right now, I am not in a favorable mood," Riven said. He placed his hands on the ground and immediately summoned his golem, something that he barely ever used.

And due to the fact that he was now in the second circle, the golem had increased in size and looked far more powerful.

Not stopping there, he finally summoned something that he hadn’t used ever since he got it from Lucifer, and that was the hellhound.

A one-meter-tall wolf appeared, its gut covered in flames, its eyes glowing with hellfire. It was a vicious-looking creature.

When Noel looked at it from where he stood, he felt a sense of dread.

’Where did he get that from? It feels terrifying,’ Noel thought.

The golem and the hound wasted no time. They lunged into the forest, running at full speed, and immediately, the battle started.

Over twenty men had been rushing down to take care of Riven and Noel. None of them were expecting to be attacked by a stone golem and a burning wolf.

"Shoot them down!" the leader said, and an archer knocked up his bow and fired an arrow at the golem, but it hit the body and bounced off.

As for the hound, any arrow that came close was burnt up immediately.

The leader was shocked to see this, but in this line of business, he was used to seeing shocking things. He pulled out his sword, "Attack!" he roared, and everyone ran forward, not stopping.

Riven and Noel also ran up. Riven pulled out his sword, "Twilight, are you ready?" he asked.

"More than I’ll ever be," she said. He smiled and pushed further.

A man attacked the hound, swinging at it, but it dodged and bit into his leg. Flames spread from the point where it bit and engulfed the entire body.

He screamed and rolled in pain until he was burnt into a crisp.

All these men were in the first circle as battle mages. They were supposed to be capable of handling these two boys, but it seemed that their information had been wrong.

Only the leader was a three-circle battle mage. He stood behind, watching the scene unfold. He was shocked. He gripped his sword tighter as he watched two kids slaughter his entire team with ease.

He gritted his teeth, he knew he had to step in if he wanted to stop this.

Sophie, back at the carriage, slowly got on her feet and then looked into the forest. She saw the battle happening, she saw Riven and Noel ripping grown men apart without hesitation.

Two young boys, they killed without a single moment of hesitation. It began to make her wonder what had happened to the two of them to condition them into such a state.

It felt hard to stomach what they were doing, but she had no choice, they were fighting for their safety and hers included.

Not wanting to watch anymore, she turned her back and slid down to the ground, but she could still hear the screams of the men dying.

She tried to ignore it, but nothing worked. She shut her eyes and closed her ears.

Shing.

Suddenly, she felt the cold metal of a blade on her neck. She opened her eyes in fear, only to see one of the men beside her with his finger on his lip.

"Shuuuuu." He told her to keep quiet.

"If you make a single sound, I’ll cut through your throat and leave your body here," he said.
