CHAPTER 57: CHAPTER 57

"What would you do if your client lied to you?" the lecturer asked.

Several students raised their hands.

Before the lecturer could choose, a girl suddenly spoke up.

Rhea’s head snapped in her direction. Wow, she’s quick.

Another question was asked, and again the girl answered first.

As the class went on, she responded to nearly every question thrown at them.

Okay, this is starting to get annoying. Rhea shot her a glare.

"Ms. Rhea, this question is for you," the lecturer called out, tearing his eyes away from the girl. He posed the question to Rhea.

But before Rhea could respond, the girl answered again.

"Miss, what is your name again?" the lecturer asked, turning to her.

"Athaliah Gooz," she replied, adjusting her glasses.

"Athaliah, I can tell you want to prove yourself, but that does not mean you must show off. There are other students who also have answers. Give them some room." The lecturer leaned on the lectern, chin resting on his hand.

"Sir, I’m not showing off. It’s not my fault they are—" she swept her gaze across the room, then back to him, "Too slow."

A wave of murmuring erupted. Students frowned and glared daggers at her.

Rhea, meanwhile, looked her over from head to toe, her gaze catching on the pink ribbon in her hair.

Oh, so it was you from earlier. But who is she? I’ve never seen her in this class before.

"Ms. Athaliah, if you are not called on, do not answer in my class."

With that, the room fell silent.

One hand rested on her hip, Athaliah scoffed loudly. "That is absurd! Why should I hold myself back for these slow miscreants who couldn’t even study enough?" The other hand gesturing toward the class.

Then she went on. "When I was sent here and told this was the best law school, that I had to push myself, I did not expect to find these fish-brained children just sitting here, waiting to be spoon-fed."

"When she apologized earlier, I thought she was decent. But she’s rude as fuck," Rhea muttered, eyes still locked on the girl.

Athaliah added, lettings out a long sigh, "Sir I’d appreciate it. If your students will fasten their seat belt." She lowered to her seat not batting an eye, to the hush class.

The silence was broken by the lecturer proceeding with the class after clearing his throat.

That girl will be a tough nut to crack.

Rhea stared at Athaliah while arranging her bag,

I hope she doesn’t come near me until we graduate. Rhea seriously wished.

But as fate would have it. It didn’t go her way.

"Hi, sorry about earlier. I was rushing to class, so I... um... didn’t apologize properly." Athaliah stood at the aisle’s entrance, right by Rhea’s row.

"Oh!" Rhea looked up from her bag, finding Athaliah almost hovering over her, with a soft smile on her face. "It’s okay, no big deal."

"I hope you did take what happened in today’s class to heart?" The soft smile on her face stretched to a weird grin, with a funny glint of challenge in her eyes.

Rhea’s lip cracked with an awkward smile. "No, it’s no problem. You answering the questions first doesn’t affect me." She stood, waiting for Athaliah to step aside. "It won’t change my CGPA or any part of my performance." She stepped forward, forcing Athaliah to move.

What was that? Was I dragging the questions in today’s class with her or something.

Ewwww.

She shiveed as a cold ran down her spine.

As Rhea wondered the hallway, she trailed her way to Zeenare’s office.

I think I should tell him about yesterday.

’If anything out of the ordinary happened, when you are at your house inform me immediately.’ Zeenare’s voice rang in her head, flashing to when she was at his house.

She knock twice, then twisted the knob but it didn’t bulge.

Why is it not opening? Is he not in?

She turned it again.

Ok, why is the door not opening? He’s never missed school before.

She reached for her phone and dialed his number. But nothing happened, he didn’t also picked his call. Several calls went by and he still didn’t pick.

What is wrong? Did something happen? She asked herself.

*

At Zeenare island.

"Othimise, the masters phone has been ringing. What should we do?" One maid scurried to Othimise side speaking in his ear.

"Switch it off, it’s not relevant." He instructed.

"Yes, sir."she left.

The master has no human relationships to have someone to call him. Except her of course, and she is not needed. Othimise thought.

"Othimise." Zeenare called.

"Yes master."

"What was that about? Why was a maid here?" Zeenare questioned in almost a whispered.

"Oh, it’s nothing to disturb yourself with, master. It’s just some parasite she came to report." Othimise whispered, near Zeenare’s ears.

"Parasite? On my island?"

"I believe it’s came with the humans food ingredients, Sir." Othimise informed lying.

Othimise walked off with a wave from Zeenare’s hand.

"My daughter has loved you all her life, Your Majextry," said a middle-aged man with a gravelly voice. He was broad-shouldered, with brown hair, patterns on his face, and accessories woven into his beard. "She has worked hard to learn the ways of the Ockonayia Tide so she may stand at your side and be your female."

And a girl sitting at his side, with half braided ash and black hair, yellowish golden reptilian eyes, and a touch of black in the middle, a light black vail with gold pattern tied over her nose. Her ears were pointy, adorned with lots of rings. Her skin was almost like the night. She was slim dressed and adorned with jewellery covering the fabric of the blouse and skirt she wore.

"AlphaTide Voluga, of the West Reef," Zeenare began, "I wondered why I had visitors at my door step, when I wasn’t expecting one, and it turns out to be a marriage proposal." He placed is hand on his crossed legs.

His eye drifted to the girl who was looking at him intensely then back to her father. "You daughter is beautiful, and I can see from her attire she is strong, which is truly fitting for an Alpha queen."

Voluga nodded with a smile. A glint of satisfaction in his eyes.

"But, " Zeenare added, "I’m married."

"What do you mean?" Instantly the Voluga’s smiles vanished. "That can’t be possible!"

Zeenare picked up, the tea cup at his side and sipped it slowly. "And why is that?" He questioned, setting it aside.

"For the past two hundred years, everyone knows you were never married. That you are only cursed to a human girl." Voluga uttered, meeting Zeenare’s gaze.

For a while Zeenare said nothing, but slowly drank his tea, not paying them any glance.

After Voluga and his daughter shared a glance, he coughed clearing his throat, brushing his hands over his long beard.

"I apologise for my father’s tone," the girl spoke, her voice were smooth and light, like a music to the ears.

Then he dropped the cup, the second time.

"Though we know you fancy this human girl, it is well aware that, you wouldn’t get bored. And would need a true companion, I know you would want to continue your lineage, to have children of your own and to go back to Ockonayia and rule." She said.

"What is your name again?" Zeenare asked, imperceptible veins at the corner of his temple.

"Yaxidani," she replied with a smile.

"Since you know so much, then I believe you know that human is mine. My Alpha female."

"But your Majextry." Her voice flowed through the room, with precised vibration.

What is this? She possesses a seduction voice? Interesting, I thought the west only had brute force as their primary skill. Zeenare thought one of his brow lifted.

"Do not use that here!" Zeenare instructed, Yaxidani. Hi voice low but carried power. "I thought you said you studied the ways of the Ockonayia. Then you should be aware not to use that voice on me." He pointed out.

She wanted to say more but her words, never came out. Only crack inaudible sounds.

"You can leave now. The discussion is over." Zeenare glanced to her father, then called for his butler. "Othimise, we are done here." Zeenare informed coldly.

"This is insulting." Voluga roared, slammed his huge fist against the table before him, resonating a ringing sound through the room.

Suddenly, multiple shadows, surged out of the corners of the room, straight towards Voluga and his daughter, morphing into soldiers with glowing, blue crystal spear pointing at and Yaxidani’s throat.

Zeenare rose up slowly glided towards them, "Now let me make myself clear, TideAlpha if the West." His voice tight with authority.

"You came barged into my territory without an invitation or a written letter, insulted me, tried to intimidate me. And dared to demean my woman, with a chaff like this!" His eyes cut to Yaxidani.

"A slut!"

The mansion shook. His voice slammed them against the floor and held them against their throat, strangling them.

"I gave you the privilege of speaking with me and you think you are my equal?" He tilted Voluga’s head, his eyes burning death into the man’s very soul, then his essence.

"Know your place."

Blood trickled from Voluga with terror in his eyes.
