Angel Monarch
Chapter 478 478: Parents
Sera spent close to an hour chatting with Bea before she gathered enough strength to climb out of bed.
Her new legs trembled as she paced around the hospital room. Pain shot through her nerves with each step, yet it wasn't all bad. The lack of mobility gave her an excuse to touch Bea.
The magnificent woman helped Sera walk around until she got used to the newly grown limbs. After another half an hour, she was ready to step outside.
The large metal door creaked open. They were still on the Old Dawn, which meant the doors, walls, ceiling, floor, everything was made of metal.
The door led into a large lounge area packed with familiar faces. Unlike the hospital room, the walls, ceiling and ground weren't white, but instead an artistic dark blue, which reminded Sera of the deep sea.
Sera stepped outside with Bea a step behind. Everyone became silent as the creaky door opened. They all turned their heads near simultaneously.
Their faces revealed mixed expressions. Some stared at the Angel with pure admiration, others with love, relief or joy, and a select few showed annoyed expressions. There were also people who had never met Sera yet; they all looked stunned by the Angel's perfect beauty.
She wore nothing but a plain black shirt and black shorts. Even her feet were bare, and Sera wanted to find Faith to thank her profusely for giving her underwear this time.
After each bloodlusted killing spree, she gave only the least amount of clothes, since they got burned away a few hours later.
The Angel smiled at the gathered people. Sadly, her daughter and future son-in-law couldn't make it, since they delegated the relocation process in New Constantinople. At least that's what Bea said, but her tone hinted at a different reason.
Either way, it didn't matter for Sera. Instead of worrying, she focused on the gathered people. She raised her hand in a wave and opened her mouth to speak, when a loud screeching voice broke the silence…
"MOMMY!" Shouted a young boyish voice as a small whitish-black rocket shot towards Sera.
She couldn't react fast enough, and the tiny rocket hit her in the chest. He carried enough force to knock Sera off her feet, but before she landed on the ground, her own pristine white wings snapped into motion.
A moment later, she stabilized herself and glanced down at the small missile desperately hugging her body. A boy with short brownish-gold hair and a pair of pristine white wings with a few black feathers mixed in.
Recognition ignited in Sera's eyes, and soon they became wet as tears gathered in them. She gently brushed the boy's hair as she spoke with trembling lips… "Nicholas?"
The boy glanced up with a wide gap-toothed smile. His golden-hazel eyes saw the tears in Sera's eyes and her face stuck in disbelief. He also teared up upon feeling his mother's gentle hands for the first time in months.
Their hug tightened, and soon the tears left their eyes as they wept together. Everyone's expressions softened at the beautiful sight, and even the annoyed guests couldn't help but smile.
The people turned away moments later, to give the semblance of privacy to the mother and son. Bea stayed near the pair, grinning with joy, and soon two familiar figures appeared by her side.
A tall man with white hair and beard. His freezing blue eyes stared at Sera with exhaustion and relief.
Next to him stood a short lady, carrying a two week old sleeping baby in her arms. Her shoulder-length black hair clumped together as her tired dark eyes glanced between Sera and Nick.
They waited for a few minutes until Sera and Nick cried their eyes out. Eventually, Sera lessened the hug, and moved her right hand below Nick's bottom, so she could carry him easier.
Together they moved closer to Damien, Agnes and the baby, Josephine. Sera leaned in and gave side hugs to each parent, which caused little Nick to hiss at them. His little hands also tightened around Sera's neck… He was quite possessive of his mother!
However, Agnes and Damien just chuckled. After everyone left for Antarctica, Damien and Agnes looked out for Nick. They got pretty close, but his connection with his mother was much stronger, it seemed.
Sera, on the other hand, didn't find his behavior amusing. She glanced at the boy with reprimanding eyes and with a small disappointed frown.
All the fight left Nick's body as he looked away in embarrassment. His barely audible voice reached everyone standing nearby… "I'm sorry…"
His speech has become much better since he spoke his first words about a month ago. Transcended babies hadn't been born often, so nobody knows much about their development.
Phisically, Nick developed like a normal giant child, but his mental capabilities surpassed any regular baby's. His vocabulary was around that of a seven or eight-year-old, and he can already read most letters. Agnes and Damien were quite curious about how fast little Jo would develop.
Upon hearing Nick's meek voice, little Jo opened her unique, freezing blue eyes with black lines. She yawned and glanced around, searching for someone or something.
Agnes gently patted her short black hair with white lines, which made the child giggle. She reached out and grabbed her mother's shirt. The fabric crumpled between her little fingers, then the child's eyes began glowing and specks of light rose off its surface.
At the strange sight, Damien and Agnes both sighed, while Nick chuckled. His laughter caused Jo to lose concentration. The glow in her eyes disappeared as she reached out towards the Angelic Child.
Nick climbed off his mother and looked at Agnes while making a cute expression… "Can I hold Jo?"
"Sure, but remember the rules?" Answered Agnes, in a reprimanding tone.
Little Nick glanced away while blushing from embarrassment. He mumbled under his breath… "No flying or running with Jo…"
Agnes smiled and handed Jo to Nick. She patted and gave a small kiss on top of the boy's head, who soon walked off while playing with the two week old baby.
The parents watched the children with proud smiles. Even Bea, who still stood nearby, smiled at how cute those children were.
The short maid didn't miss the gleam in Bea's eyes. Agnes held herself back from pushing the magnificent woman into Sera's arms.
Nick already considered Bea his mother. While they waited for Sera to awaken for the past four days, Bea and Vicky spent a lot of time with little Nick.
Every time Nick called Bea 'mommy', she blushed heavily and tried correcting him. However, after three days, her blushing lessened, and she didn't correct him. Now, Agnes was certain Bea would react to 'mommy' the same as Sera.
But while Agnes wanted the parents to get back together, she wasn't stupid. She knew that getting back together after everything they went through wasn't simple. Agnes still hopes though…
"How're you doing?" Asked Sera, pushing all the useless thoughts out of Agnes's head.
"What do you mean?" She answered while glancing up at Sera. The Angel leaned back against the dark blue wall, her eyes focused on her child.
"Did you recover from your pregnancy? I hope there weren't any complications."
Agnes looked away towards Jo's smiling, laughing expression. A wide grin appeared on the proud mother's face as she answered… "Well, it was quite a tiring and long labour, but everything went normally… How about you?"
Her dark eyes looked at Sera with concern. The Angel's lips turned into a thin line, as her eyes zoned out.
"It was horrible. The pain felt unbearable even to me. I spent weeks suffering. I couldn't eat anything since I would vomit, and…" She took a deep breath, as her golden-green eyes stared at the floor…
"I spent weeks suffering. I couldn't eat anything since I would vomit, and… "I died afterward… Nick was too large, and the doctor had to cut me open… I bled out quickly…"
Sera's hands and entire body shook as she recalled the awful experience. Her eyes continued staring at the ground, while Agnes and Damien stared at her with pity.
Suddenly, a gentle, soft hand grasped Sera's own, hating her trembling. She didn't need to glance at the hand's owner, since there was only one person here with whom she shared this memory.
Her hand tightened on Bea's, and moments later life returned to her eyes. She looked at Nick and smiled brightly.
"It was all worth it! I love Nick with all my heart! I would've gladly given my life thousands of times for him!"
A small smile returned to Agnes's face as she breathed a sigh of relief. Sometimes mothers begin despising their children after an especially arduous labour. She was glad Sera didn't suffer from postpartum depression and still loved her child.
They watched their children play in silence for a while longer, but after minutes of calmness, they saw Nick's wings twitch. A telltale sign of his preparation to fly with Jo still in his arms.
Damien's deep voice boomed over the room, as his freezing blue eyes narrowed at Nick… "No flying with Jo!"
Nick froze and glanced at Damien with an ashamed expression. He mouthed a sorry, then walked and sat on the sofa, next to Aunt Cass and Uncle David.
Sera, Bea and Agnes chuckled while Damien shook his head, clearly annoyed. In reality, dropping Jo wouldn't cause her any harm, since hurting a Transcended wasn't easy. However, it's a great way to teach Nick about responsibility.
Agnes and Sera continued discussing their pregnancies for ten minutes until the short maid asked… "What's the first thing you did after giving birth? I was so hungry I ate continuously for multiple hours!"
The Angel looked thoughtful for a moment, thinking about her experience after her labour. Her smile twisted into a wicked smirk as she recalled everything.
"When I died, Vicky took me away into an abandoned place, where I could freely resurrect. After I exploded and burned down a large portion, I went and fought an Abomination, which I eventually killed! Then Faith took me away as I fell unconscious!"
Her words spread over the lounge area, reaching everyone's ears. All conversations stopped as they stared at Sera in shock… Nobody anticipated this answer…
