Angel Monarch
Chapter 551 551: Wedding Preparations (2)
While the women got their measurements in dress shop, their male counterparts sat inside a famous tailor's store. The middle-aged gentleman measured everyone with perfect professionalism and decorum, ignoring both the men's powerful status and strange conversation.
"…So? What do you guys think? Which of our friends would be the most terrifying pregnant?" asked Will while flexing her biceps, so the tailor knew how much his suit needed to stretch.
"Interesting and very offensive question. Didn't expect anything less from you, Fishboy!" said Leslie with a proud smirk.
Will just chuckled at the insult and, while glancing towards his old friend, he said, "Well, at least I don't need to light myself on fire to look hot! Now, answer the question! How would Sarah fare pregnant?"
A shiver went down all the men's spines as they imagined the already emotionally unstable Sarah getting even worse.
"Don't even mention that, Will! She would most definitely be the most terrifying!" said Henry, the youngest of the group.
"Well, I wouldn't be so certain," began Damien. "Agnes wasn't horrible during her pregnancy, but she still lost control of her emotions quite often. Sarah's already bad, but that makes her less prone to losing additional control… I think Bea might be the worst…
"She always keeps her emotions locked up, which would lead to bursts of instability! Her immense power would also greatly contribute to losing control!"
Everybody except David and Adam nodded upon hearing Damien's words. However, the two who disagreed knew someone even worse.
"It's a good argument, but you're wrong. Bea would indeed be awful, but I think Melinda would be much worse!" said David, then glanced towards Adam, who continued his thought process.
"Unlike Bea, she's smart and cunning with an assertive personality. She would manipulate everyone to do her bidding! We would be nothing but puppets following each of her fingers' movements!"
"Really? We aren't that close, so I never actually got to know her personality… I didn't think Sera's best friend would be devious…"
However, as the words left Leslie's mouth, he quickly realized something… Sera was also quite cunning, so why wouldn't her childhood friend be the same?
"Yeah, she's similar to Sera, but with less learning ability and worse control over her emotions. Pregnancy would make her a true nightmare!" said David, while silently thanking whatever higher entity brought her and Joan together.
The room became silent as Will left the podium, and Henry took his place. The tall fifteen-year-old took off most of his clothes, revealing an unnaturally muscular body for someone his age.
"Damn, I wish I had this appearance at his age…" said Damien, and David nodded in agreement.
"At his age? I wish I had his appearance now!" said Will while scratching his dark blue stubble. "Hey Henry, could you give me some extra height?"
All the men chuckled, and even the shopkeeper couldn't hold himself from showing a near-imperceptible smile.
While Will wasn't too short, his height could be considered average by Evolved standards. He was only a few centimeters taller than Lucy, but the muscular physique made him look bulky.
"Speaking of Henry. Who're you and Vicky doing? We rarely see you two since you're always busy!" asked Leslie while writing to someone on his watch… judging by the wide, joyful smile, it's his girlfriend…
"What do you mean? In the past month we attended half a dozen different parties. I think it's obvious from our happiness that we're doing amazing!"
David and Damien chuckled while Will said, "Hey, we usually get drunk on these occasions! It's difficult to remember our own actions, not to mention others'!"
Henry glanced towards Will with a mischievous smirk as he whispered loud enough for everyone to hear… "And you wonder why you're the Drunk Uncle!"
The entire room burst into laughter, while Will just shrugged, not even slightly embarrassed by the accusation…
"Speaking of which, what do you and Vicky do? As Leslie said, you're always busy, so I've been wondering." asked Damien after the laughter died down.
The others nodded too, except Adam. The soon-to-be-husband knew exactly what Vicky and Henry spent their precious time on.
"Well, we usually do all the jobs that are undesirable to Sera. She's the Angelic Order's figurehead, but it's best to keep her public appearance minimal until the Factions are dealt with… After the socializing during the day, we're usually too tired to spend an extend time with anyone else."
Everyone agreed and sighed while glancing towards the tall boy. A fifteen-year-old shouldn't carry such heavy burdens on his shoulder. He should be enjoying his youth instead of coordinating an entire nation!
"Do you at least go on dates? I'm sure Vicky would enjoy spending some time away from work, and dates are very important to every healthy relationship!" said David, causing all the other men, including the tailor, to nod.
"Sure we do, but since neither of us are too extroverted, we usually just grab some light snacks, then watch a movie or show. It doesn't require previous planning, we can wear whatever we want, and can cuddle before the holo-screen! It's perfect!"
The other men, while felt happy for Henry's easy relationship, they pulled their mouths and grumbled in annoyance. They wished their partners would be less extroverted too.
"How do your dates usually go?" asked Leslie from Will, but the others paid attention as well.
"Lucy loves going to concerts… loud ones with a bunch of drunk fools… It's a pain in the ass, but the sex is always great afterwards! How about you all?"
"Agnes loves going to museums… but only boring ones about useless objects! A week ago we went to London and saw a bunch of wax people! Most of them died hundreds of years ago… There was a Sera wax statue though, which made it worthwhile!"
As Damien spoke, he pulled up a picture of the statue. Soon they all began chuckling at how ridiculously inaccurate and offensively bad Sera's face looked.
"Hey Adam, doesn't the Angelic Order remove all inaccurate depictions of their Goddess? Why didn't you destroy this abomination yet?" asked Will, while continuing to die from laughter.
"Well, we tried, but when we showed a picture to Sera, she found it so funny that she made the statue a national treasure. We couldn't remove it, and she even forbade the museum from creating a more accurate one!"
That didn't surprise anyone. Sera knew how to take a joke and, even worse, she loved doubling-down!
They spoke a bit longer about the ridiculous museums Agnes had taken Damien to, then Leslie took over the conversation…
"Sarah has a different problem… She can't seem to settle down on just one interest. Every week she learns about some weird sport or a very specific sewing club. I can never prepare for the ridiculous ideas she comes up with… But at least the naked yoga was fucking awesome…"
Everyone tried to ignore Leslie's last sentence as David continued with his own experience…
"Me and Cass go on two types of dates. Either go on regular dates like having a meal in a fancy restaurant or watching a play in a theater or… Uh… She'll find the most ridiculous public spots, where we can stay hidden and… You know… Do it for hours…"
The other man stared at David with jealousy, except for Adam, who understood his friend's pain perfectly. It took a lot of effort to get his soon-to-be-wife pregnant. Many sleepless nights and sometimes days…
"What's the most interesting place you visited for… fun?" asked Will, with utmost curiosity.
David glanced away with a thoughtful expression before his face turned red from shame…
"The most interesting was right atop the New Athens city wall as we watched the sunrise, but… The weirdest and worst was definitely in the middle of a busy street… Cass made us invisible, so nobody saw us, but it still felt awful…"
Damien and Adam chuckled as Leslie and Will stared at David with annoyed expressions…
"You should really learn how to act humble!" said Will... "Yeah, no need to rub your perfect relationship in our faces!" said Leslie…
They weren't serious of course, but still gave another few faked angry words to David. Soon, however, they all glanced towards Adam as he told them possibly the worst date in the history of relationships.
"Me and Lilith usually went to different small churches to pray at. We chatted with our Brothers and Sisters there and sometimes even held masses for everyone gathered. However, after long days, we just go to the Temple of Eternal Flame, where we can pray in peace and quiet!"
The others watched in awe as Adam spoke with a straight, almost reminiscent face, which meant…
"Don't tell me you actually enjoy praying together as a date?!"
Will voiced everyone's opinions, and Adam nodded without hesitation…
"Of course! Dates aren't really important when simply spending moments together feels perfect! Lilith's closeness is more than enough, but it's even better when we're doing something we both love!"
Leslie suddenly grabbed Adam's shoulder and stared into his yellowish-orange eyes with a wide smile.
"Now I'm certain you and Lilith are perfect partners… since nobody else would put up with either of you!"
The room burst into laughter, including Adam. He didn't take offense at Leslie's words. Instead, he treated them as a great sign of his relationship's success.
For him, it didn't matter if he or Lilith could find different partners, since they only loved each other!
Unlike the women, the man's conversation was much less productive. However, as the night stretched longer, Cass organized everything until they simply needed to wait for the dresses and suits!
