Angle's Arrogance? My Pact with the Succubus Queen!
Chapter 89: The Mysterious Monster Commander!
CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 89: THE MYSTERIOUS MONSTER COMMANDER!
Hearing Schreiber’s warning, Colonel Izumi frowned slightly. "My orders are to make sure Logan is safe. Bringing him back to Saint Heart City is the safest choice."
Schreiber laughed when he heard Izumi’s excuse. "We both got the same orders. Why is your task different from mine? My job is to protect Logan no matter what, and keep him safe. Did you forget the first part of the order?"
Colonel Owen listened to the argument between the two.
He could tell that Izumi had clear hostility toward Logan, so he stepped forward and patted Izumi’s shoulder, warning him. "No matter what orders you got, Logan is under the protection of Twilight City."
Seeing that both the Storm Wind City and Twilight City elite teams were protecting Logan, Izumi let out a cold laugh and stopped arguing.
Each member of the three elite teams were trained master-level familiar tamers.
They moved fast and arrived at CEM38 Camp before dawn.
"Be careful. The communication towers around here aren’t working. No one knows what’s inside the camp."Owen said, looking at the tall camp gate as he led his team closer.
The Edo Castle team and the Storm Wind City team approached from the other two sides. Each soldier sent out their familiar, ready for any sudden danger.
Suddenly, lights turned on along the camp walls.
Bright beams of light shone on the familiar tamers from the three teams, and countless red dots locked onto them.
Colonel Owen saw the red dots on his teammates’ bodies and his eyes lit up. "It’s an infrared scope! They’re on our side!"
Before he could even finish speaking, Owen grabbed the megaphone and was about to shout into it.
But before he could open his mouth, flames suddenly burst out from the top of the wall.
"Damn it! Get down!"Owen shouted immediately. All the soldiers dropped to the ground.
A storm of bullets flew over their heads, raining down into the darkness behind them.
The gunfire lasted for a full minute before finally stopping.
The soldiers, who had just escaped death, looked up with shaky hearts, ready to curse.
But then, a strong smell of blood came from behind them, and they turned around quickly.
What they saw was a pile of dead Egyptian cobras, packed closely together.
Colonel Owen gasped.
He realized that the bullets weren’t meant to kill them—they were meant to save them.
"Damn snakes!"Colonel Izumi and Colonel Schreiber both led their teams to join Owen.
At the same time, the big gate of CEM38 Camp slowly opened. The commander on the wall picked up the megaphone and shouted, "Hurry up and come in! The monsters’ attack failed, but their main force is coming!"
Owen heard the shout and immediately led his team toward the gate.
He could already feel a dangerous presence approaching from behind.
Just as they ran into the camp, Owen, Izumi, and Schreiber all turned back toward the gate.
About two kilometers away, a group of monsters was moving forward in a neat formation, heading straight for CEM38 Camp.
With every step they took, Owen could feel the ground shaking beneath his feet.
Izumi, who was watching, looked terrified. "How is this possible? A beast tide after a monster frenzy should be wild and chaotic. But this... it’s like..."
Before Izumi could finish speaking, a bottle flew straight down and smashed at Owen’s feet.
Then, the commander on the wall spoke again: "It’s not just like that. There’s really something controlling those monsters."
"Stop standing there in shock! They deliberately brought you to the camp gate just to send those Egyptian cobras to attack it!"
Hearing this, Owen and his team all looked serious.
They first told their team members to prepare for defense, then the three of them climbed up the wall to meet the camp commander.
But as soon as they saw him, they were all shocked. The commander in charge of CEM38 Camp was none other than a prisoner—Dead Man.
"Surprised?"Dead Man pulled at his prison uniform and showed the rank on his shoulder. "I used to be a soldier before I got into trouble. Don’t look down on me."
At that moment, the officer beside him pushed up his glasses and explained, "The commander of CEM38 Camp was killed in previous monster attacks. The only one left with the ability to lead a big army is Major Bell."
Hearing the name Major Bell, Owen’s eyes twitched. "You’re the one who lost three cities and got sent to court-martial for running away?"
Schreiber and Izumi both looked at him with contempt.
Schreiber immediately turned around and walked down the wall. "I won’t take orders from a coward who ran from battle!"
Izumi also sneered and stepped forward to the officer. "You didn’t have a commander before. Now that we’re here, I demand to take control of CEM38 Camp."
The officer, seeing Izumi try to take over right away, just laughed. "Guys, did you not see clearly? I’m also a prisoner."
He then lifted his collar and showed the prison uniform underneath.
Right after that, the soldiers around them all turned and stared coldly at Izumi. "Do you think you can command our Eagle Strike Team?"
At first, dozens of Master-level Familiar Tamers’ pressure surrounded Colonel Izumi. He was so scared he started sweating, and he could only shout angrily, "Damn it! You’re committing a crime!"
Owen Colonel stood by, watching the city defenders closely.
Suddenly, he noticed something strange — under their collars, they were all wearing prison uniforms.
"Wait a minute!" Owen suddenly realized. "You’re the Eagle Strike Team? The best squad from Saint Heart City Guard?"
Major Bell saw that Owen recognized them and quietly lit a cigarette. "There’s a long story behind this. But right now, I need you, Colonel, to help protect the camp. There are a lot of wounded here."
After hearing Bell’s words, Owen nodded.
But Izumi still looked cold and refused to cooperate. "I think you’re a bunch of dead men taking advantage of the beast tide to start a riot! Kill all the camp guards!"
Then, Izumi grabbed his phone and jumped off the wall.
He wanted to find proof that these prisoners had killed the guards and started a riot.
The thought of putting a Major with a prison record on trial made Izumi very excited.
But when he pushed open the door to the command tent, he found a crowd of survivors and camp soldiers inside.
Some were bringing water, some were giving medicine, and others were doing surgery on the injured. Everyone was busy working.
At that moment, Colonel Schreiber came in too.
After seeing the scene, he was speechless. "The camp soldiers and survivors are being protected by a bunch of prisoners?"
The shocking contrast left Schreiber unable to speak.
Finally, Schreiber pulled Izumi and took him back to the wall.
Major Bell didn’t get angry about their rude words before. Instead, he walked up to them and shook their hands, asking: "I’m sorry. We prisoners have lost our familiars, so our fighting power is very weak. We need your help in the next battle. That monster leader is too smart. I need you to find and kill him."
After hearing that Bell and his prisoner soldiers had no familiars, Owen and the other two colonels all widened their eyes.
These people don’t even have familiars, yet they managed to hold this camp. They’re supposed to be the most hated deserters, right?
Owen Colonel took a deep breath and gave General Bell a military salute. "General, we came here for an important mission. As long as we can hold the camp, just tell us what to do!"
Schreiber, who was standing nearby, saw Owen was ready to follow Bell’s orders. He sighed quietly. "As long as your orders make sense, we’ll carry them out."
Then Schreiber kicked Izumi Colonel in front of Bell.
Izumi had no choice but to speak. He sneered, "I’ll check every one of your orders. If your command is bad, I’ll challenge you and take your place."
Bell laughed and grabbed a table that already had a battle map on it.
Owen looked at the map and listened as Bell laid out the plan. He felt a deep respect for Bell’s leadership.
From a soldier’s point of view, Bell’s command was nothing short of perfect.
Izumi stood quietly by, and his face got darker and darker. Occasionally, he could be heard muttering, "Damn it,"or "Why didn’t I think of that?"
Even Schreiber clapped and cheered when he heard something exciting.
After listening to Bell’s plan, all of them agreed that Bell was very capable.
"General Bell, your plan is almost perfect. I believe we’ll find the monster leader this time,"Owen said excitedly. "Once we take out the leader, the whole monster army will fall apart. Then they won’t be a problem anymore."
But Bell’s face turned serious. "I hope everything goes as planned. If our snipers can take out the leader from far away, we can hold out for a few more days."
After hearing General Bell’s calm decision, Owen Colonel felt more confident.
Now, the monster army was less than 100 meters from the city wall. Owen Colonel led his team to help defend the wall.
Following General Bell’s plan, they didn’t send out their familiars. Instead, they used human federal guns to shoot.
With so many extra fighters, a wall of bullets quickly formed in front of CEM38 camp. The monsters were torn apart, screaming in pain.
But no matter how hard the soldiers shot, guns and bullets would eventually run out.
Finally, the supplies on the wall started to run low. General Bell turned cold and shouted, "Go on the attack!"
