CHAPTER 856: GENEROUS OFFER

Now that Clovis had accepted the mission from his great-grandmother, all that was left was to meet the president.

With Rena handling everything else, they easily passed all the security and reached the office.

The president was accompanied only by one person. All the remaining personnel, surprisingly, remained outside.

Of course, the one standing beside him was not a random person either.

Clovis recognized this person. He was one of the two people that accompanied him previously, the chief of the army, Tier 8 human, Elezar Rekna.

"Welcome. Thank you for accepting my invitation today." The president smiled. Despite having a higher position, the president knew how important Clovis was.

His growth had been exceptional, and his strength had grown further after the training with Mara. The connection to two Tier 9 humans alone was extraordinary, so there was no way the president could be casual with him.

"Thank you for inviting me here, Mr. President." Clovis nodded.

"Mhmm. It looks like your training has gone well." The president smiled.

"Indeed."

"Please." The president extended his hand to the sofa.

Clovis nodded and took his seat, with Kanaria accompanying him. "Mr. President. My apologies, I’m not someone who talks a lot, so I’m not sure how to talk about a lot of things."

"In that case, let’s get into the matter then." The president smiled. "There are three things I want to discuss here. The first one is definitely the matter of the tax."

"Yes?" Clovis had given his demand a week ago, so he wondered whether he accepted it or not.

To his surprise, the president actually waved his finger horizontally as if it was a cutting motion. "I decided to lower it further. 0%."

"What?" Kanaria couldn’t contain her shock. Even the Elseingarde family had a 5% tax, yet the president actually offered Clovis a tax exemption.

Clovis couldn’t help but furrow his eyebrows. "I should assume you want something from me..."

"Yes. There are actually three things I would like from you."

"Let me hear it first." Clovis nodded, not in a hurry to accept the proposal.

"The tax exemption will only be applied to your city and the surrounding region, meaning if you plan to build a city, the tax will also be exempted."

"That’s rather generous." Clovis remembered that the capital had several surrounding cities because the walls couldn’t accommodate them all. That was why they made the surrounding cities, not only to repel the beasts but also to accommodate a lot more people for a single tower.

"Is this considered an autonomous region?"

"Yes." The president nodded. "The law is in the process, but it has passed all the screening, so it will take a bit more time to be applied."

Clovis maintained his silence. With such a generous condition, there was no way the demand was something small. "May I know your request?"

"We have seen how you have rebuilt the city. So, I know that if I rely on you to rebuild other cities, it can be done correctly."

The president worded it simply, but the reason the reconstruction proceeded smoothly was because of his status, Kanaria’s help, and Hana’s connection.

But what the president really wanted was nothing less than the reconstruction of all fallen cities.

There were a lot of fallen cities in this country, so reconstructing them would definitely take a lot of money. There was no way Clovis could afford such a thing.

The president knew it too and raised two fingers. "The new city won’t be your name, but because you are the ones bearing the cost, you are allowed to sell it as you are going to do in your city.

"However, the reconstruction will be working together with the team from the government."

Clovis could see what the president was aiming for. The president wanted to use him to kill all the beasts without sustaining any loss.

"The city will be split into three. The first one is the government building, including the military. For this, we would like to ask you to hand it over to us. Of course, we will bear the cost.

"The second one will be the investment. They are real estate targeting the rich. You are allowed to auction this or do it in any way you want. The last part will be the normal people’s buildings.

"You may sell it as well, but you have to sell it at a maximum of 10% above the market price."

Clovis could understand the idea behind it. He was supposed to profit from all organizations and influences that would ask for the best building, whether it was for an office or a base. After all, the new cities would be around the tower. The strategic place would fetch quite a price.

However, Clovis knew his actual goal. He wanted to rebuild the fallen cities with danger level 7 or 8. In other words, there would be one or a few Tier 8 beasts inside those cities.

No one really dared to take on this challenge because the moment their high-tier humans got injured, other influences might target them. The same applied to the military. They couldn’t show a weak military.

Hence, the best way to do it was to go through Clovis.

The Libation Fiesta was exceptional. Their growth was something no one had ever seen before. And if they were the ones doing it, they should be able to finish it in one way or another. That was the group’s strength after all.

This danger was exchanged for the profits he got from selling the new cities and the no tax in his region.

Even Christina didn’t get this kind of deal, but it was understandable, considering Ezekiel was a guardian instead of a fighter like him.

This was actually a gamble. The president also didn’t want their Tier 9 to be injured as well, but the Libation Fiesta’s achievement made him believe Clovis would be fine.

Besides, traveling to a Level 8 Danger Zone would be quite beneficial for Clovis, especially if he wanted the Tier 8 essence.

And if Clovis and Christina, two unique ability users, reached Tier 8, they should be able to somehow crush all kinds of opponents on their way. Fortunately, there were no Tier 9 beasts in this country.

Clovis asked, probing whether his assumption was true or not. "What are you going to do with the beast’s corpse?"

"!!!"
