CHAPTER 872: KILLING THE RED KONG

"Clovis!"

Clovis remained calm. He pulled his sword and thrust it forward.

Beast Manifestation Art, Thunderous Charge.

Instead of a normal thrust, he actually spun his blade a bit, dispersing the force to widen its range.

It ended up breaking the trunk apart. Due to the dispersion, the force knocked the two parts away from Clovis, allowing him to pass. If he used a normal stab or slash, the trunk would still be in his way even after the technique, so this little adjustment saved him.

"!!!" The Tier 8 beast was startled to find his trunk destroyed. Still, it didn’t hesitate to grab another one.

Christina wouldn’t allow him to do that anymore. Her Provoke stopped him from going after Clovis.

Then, Jay and Erwin approached the beast.

Now that the Tier 8 beast shifted back his focus on Jay and Erwin, Clovis spun his body and unleashed another swing.

The Tier 8 beast noticed the incoming danger and glanced at the incoming sword strike. Christina couldn’t use her Provoke this time because it would just cause the sword strike to move.

Besides, Clovis’ real intention was to distract the beast.

Jay leaped up and swung his sword at the chest with everything he had. The Tier 8 beast used his other hand to swing that trunk to hit him away, but Christina skillfully positioned herself beneath Jay.

When she activated her provoke, the trunk would hit her instead of Jay.

"Go!" Christina shouted.

Jay nodded and swung his sword, leaving a huge sword mark on the beast’s chest.

"Groaaa!" The beast was screaming in pain. Since his attack failed, he let go of the tree and smacked Jay instead.

Unfortunately for him, Erwin passed over his head with his threads wrapping around the beast’s neck. He then pulled the beast to the back, almost tripping the beast.

Although he didn’t manage to make the beast fall, he stopped the beast from hitting Jay.

They all knew that they couldn’t get hit by the beast in this battle, knowing full well how severe the injury they would get from just a single attack.

"Thank me."

"I can handle it myself." Jay snorted.

"You’re welcome." Erwin just had a smug smile on his face.

But even though they couldn’t bring the beast down, Clovis was still there. Without missing a beat, he leaped back to the beast and kicked the back of his knees, causing the red kong to fall to his knees.

"Graaa!" The kong roared in anger.

The other beasts seemed to have noticed the kong’s distress call as well. Even though Melody and the others were stopping them, they might sacrifice their lives as long as they could help the kong.

So, Clovis immediately ordered, "Erwin. Take care of it."

"Fine." Erwin nodded and jumped away.

Meanwhile, Clovis struck the kong’s back, leaving a wound as deep as the one left by Jay.

"Graa!" The kong spat a mouthful of blood before spinning its torso to shake off Clovis, Christina, and Jay.

The trio had no choice but to gain some distance. Meanwhile, Erwin moved skillfully and set up a net.

When the beasts tried to go to the kong, they would be stopped by the net.

Some powerful beasts and big beasts tried to break through with their sheer power and weight, but thanks to the trees here being huge, the trees were actually able to stop them.

Some trees might tilt to the side and their roots were a bit exposed, but they were still holding on.

As long as Erwin was here, he would be able to stop the incoming beasts.

Meanwhile, Christina came closer to the kong again while activating her Provoke. She couldn’t allow the kong to get back on his feet. As long as he remained on his knees, he would have a hard time stopping them.

Angered, the kong punched Christina with a strength 50% greater than his punch earlier.

"!!!" Christina bit her lips, realizing the sudden increase of strength. ’It is time, Clovis, Jay. This guy has lost his reasoning and begun fighting solely on his instincts. We can kill it.’

Jay and Clovis showed no hesitation in approaching the beast. Their chance had come, so they should kill the beast right away.

Clovis sped up using the Beast Manifestation Art on his feet. The kong had no choice but to slightly tilt his body and drag his hand to stop him. To stop the kong from doing anything to Jay, Clovis faced this hand head-on.

Unlike Christina, he struck the elbow instead. This way, he could stop it without taking the full brunt of its attack.

Still, the Tier 8 beast acted as if it couldn’t feel pain anymore. Even when Clovis stopped it, the beast actually tilted his body a bit and extended his hand to Clovis.

Unfortunately for him, Jay was there. He jumped to the kong’s neck and hit it with ’Grand Impact,’ slitting its throat.

The proconsul was screaming, albeit the sound that came out was weird. It was trying to shake its body again, attacking randomly. As long as it could land a hit on them, it didn’t matter anymore.

Knowing this, Clovis landed on top of his arm and jumped up.

"Like I said, we do this together." Clovis smiled.

Clovis gave a strike on the back of the kong’s neck, cutting the neck from the opposite side and ultimately reaching the wound Jay made.

Slashed through, the Tier 8 beast let out a small wail before his head rolled down to the ground.

Tianna and Tienna simply couldn’t believe what they had just seen. It was true that the beast was weakened by the tower, but the fact Clovis and the three others could defeat it so quickly meant their combined strength could definitely match a real Tier 8 beast.

More importantly, they had confirmed Jay’s strength. Although nobody said it, they could clearly see that Jay’s raw physical strength was actually similar to Clovis’s. It could be said that he had the strongest firepower in the group.

Nevertheless, the Tier 8 beast’s subjugation had finished.
