Chapter 876: Mutated Humans
CHAPTER 876: MUTATED HUMANS
Jay swung his blade, cutting off one arm. The beast waved its other arm to slice Jay’s neck, but the latter stepped forward to close the gap between them.
Surprisingly, Jay used that momentum to drag the sword forward, allowing him to stab the beast’s head.
On the other side, Erwin jumped around the area. The beast looked like it was able to predict Erwin’s movements. The moment he landed on the ground, the beast had already pounced on him.
However, Erwin took a step back and waved his hand while twitching his fingers.
All of a sudden, numerous threads appeared and wrapped the beast, using the buildings as support. Even the beast couldn’t move its body in this net.
Aileen then stepped on top of the beast while slicing its neck.
*Roar!* Another beast came toward her, but Aileen simply tossed her short sword, forcing the beast to knock it away. She cleverly tossed it to the right side of the beast so that the beast would use the right paw to block it.
As a result, the beast couldn’t use the other paw if he didn’t want to fall down.
An arrow flew from a distance.
"!!!" The beast noticed it and forcefully raised its upper body so that it could knock the arrow away with the other paw.
As if predicting this movement, Erwin wrapped the beast’s leg to pin it down to the ground.
The beast struggled to get away, but it was too late. The arrow had already reached him and blasted open his head. The arrow pierced through the head and landed on the concrete road, turning it into a small crater.
Aileen and Erwin simply gave a thumbs up to Rin in the distance before moving to the next target.
Unfortunately for them, the rest of the team seemed to have finished their battles as well.
Clovis looked around. This group of beasts contained only 25 beasts, but it took more effort than killing 100 normal beasts.
Most of the time, they had to work together to kill the beast. In addition, their levels weren’t that high. Most of them were Tier 3 beasts.
The enemy was so tricky that they had a harder time defeating them.
While sheathing his swords, Clovis asked, "Is everyone okay?"
"Only some minor injuries," Luci reported while approaching Ragna with a bandage.
"Everyone is fine," Melody confirmed.
They had been hunting in the nuclear zone for the last three days. As expected, it was harder than they had originally imagined.
The beasts were much stronger than normal beasts, but the tricky part was their mutated beast soul. With such a tricky beast soul, even the Libation Fiesta struggled. It could be said that the Libation Fiesta had found its match.
It was unfortunate that the beast’s essence and the beast soul couldn’t be used. If not, it could make them stronger.
"It looks like we have hunted enough," Tienna muttered.
"That’s right. Mr. Clovis. I think everyone has gotten accustomed to fighting the mutated beasts. Why don’t we head to the target now? Finding the beast itself will take some time. Besides, there is another danger in this place."
"..." Clovis fell silent. He couldn’t really ignore their opinions.
"That danger... You are talking about mutated humans?" Kanaria asked.
"Yes. We have gotten a bit too close to that kind of settlement." Tianna nodded.
Melody rubbed her chin. "Mutated humans. They are humans who have consumed mutated essence and mutated beast soul. As a result, they turn into something inhuman.
"Their strength might have increased, but they can’t be called human anymore. Their bodies have deformed to a certain extent.
"Fighting them will be quite hard, but I personally think the beasts are much harder to deal with."
Melody gave her opinion based on the information she had read on Skynet.
Clovis, on the other hand, carefully contemplated their next course of action.
"Where is the mutated human settlement?" Clovis asked.
Tianna sent a map. There was already a red marking that showed the territory. These mutated humans are here. Originally, we wanted to move a bit further so that we wouldn’t have to get into conflict with them."
"We don’t have any grudges against these mutated humans. So, we will avoid it as well. It looks like we have drifted a bit further than I originally expected." Clovis squinted his eyes. "Melody. Set up a new route."
"Got it. Are we finally going for the Tier 7 mutated beast?"
"Yes. Everyone has gotten used to their fighting style, so it is a good time. Besides, if there are a lot of beasts around it, we have to lower their number first, not counting the need to retreat. We will start approaching the target from this point on."
Melody smirked. "Okay. Leave it to me."
Clovis nodded. The target seemed to be located past the mutated human territory. The original plan was to loop around them and deal with their target before retreating.
But due to the constant clashes with the mutated beasts, they had deviated from their course.
When they were about to correct them, a loud cry echoed from the sky.
It was Rea’s cry.
"!!!" Clovis raised his head. "Rea is attacked?!"
"!!!" Melody and the others couldn’t help but furrow their eyebrows. Rea was staying in the sky, so why would she be attacked?
When they raised their vision, they saw a spear flying toward her. Rea skillfully slapped it with her wing, but they couldn’t help but find the perpetrator.
The culprits were human. The first one had his right arm enlarged. The muscles were bigger, but more importantly, hair covered the upper arm fully.
The second person was another man who had one eye larger than the other. Both of its feet were bigger, making the rest of its body smaller.
The last person was a woman. Her torso was not proportional. The length of her shoulder, the size of her chest, and even the position of her belly.
Just when Tianna had warned them about it, they never thought they would find these mutated humans.
Their position shouldn’t have been found, but Rea was much more visible than the rest of them, so it couldn’t be helped if they attacked it.
"Is this a jinx?" Ragna innocently asked.
