CHAPTER 198: CHAPTER 198: ARE YOU LIN YI?

Inside Lille Camp City.

In the "World of Weapon Smiths" shop.

A shop assistant in formal attire approached Lin Yi.

"Is there anything I can assist you with?"

"I want to talk to Craftsman Dante, to hire him to make a unique item for me. Will he take the job?"

"I’ll have to ask him. You see, if you come back tomorrow, I should have an answer for you."

"Understood. I have another question: do you buy equipment crafted by Weapon Smiths?"

The shop assistant’s eyes widened slightly.

"We do!"

After thinking for a moment, he added, "As long as the quality is acceptable and not much worse than the system equipment."

"Okay. Take a look at this."

As Lin Yi spoke, a long spear appeared in his hand.

[Sylvie’s Spear, Second Level]

He wasn’t worried about showcasing his teleportation skills, even if it might cause some trouble; he wasn’t afraid.

After all, times have changed.

The shop assistant took the spear and widened his eyes.

"Wow! This is amazing! The attributes are not bad, and the spear itself is well-made!"

"Let’s discuss the price."

"I think we could probably sell this spear, I’ll offer you 100 Coins."

"200 Coins!" Lin Yi snorted.

The shop assistant countered, "125 Coins."

"150 Coins, not a Coin less."

"Alright, but I can only take 10 spears now. If my customers give good feedback, I’ll buy as many as you have."

"Deal."

Lin Yi nodded and teleported over nine more spears one by one.

The shop assistant took the spears and walked behind the counter, returning a minute later.

He handed Lin Yi three Coins worth 500 Coins each, smiling, "You can come back the next day, and I’ll tell you Dante’s answer."

Lin Yi nodded and then left.

As soon as he left, the shop assistant immediately used the landline to call his boss, reporting what had just happened.

Including this mysterious customer’s interest in Dante and those spears. Needless to say, the ability to teleport items was also mentioned to the boss...

Lin Yi started searching around the market again.

To his surprise, he couldn’t find any system armor, not even at the First Level!

Apparently, all the armor had been purchased by the city’s rulers.

However, he did find an ammunition store!

This store belonged to the public and was quite popular since most people bought ammunition by the crate.

There were many teams in Lille that hunted zombies and beasts, often using firearms.

In this post-apocalyptic world, people might have skills and magic, but old-fashioned bullets were still very effective.

"Twenty thousand rounds of 5.56 caliber bullets."

Lin Yi instructed a store assistant.

The store assistant looked up, stunned.

"Uh... did you say twenty thousand rounds? Would you mind waiting here for a moment?"

After speaking, the store assistant went to the manager.

He quickly returned, but not with the manager; instead, he brought a battle-hardened middle-aged soldier.

This man, although in civilian clothes, was clearly a soldier by appearance.

Lin Yi noticed his right leg had a limp, which might explain why he was a manager now instead of serving in the military.

"You want to buy a large batch of bullets?"

The manager inquired, studying this Oriental customer dressed in Second Level system armor.

Typically, those who ordered large amounts of ammunition wore Third Level equipment or military uniforms.

"That’s right."

"Okay, but I need to see your identification first."

Upon hearing this, Lin Yi handed over his ID card.

This damn thing!

The manager scanned it with a tablet and began reviewing this unusual customer’s profile.

"Lin Yi, huh? Oriental? Your ID is fine, but you don’t have a place to store that much ammunition."

"Where can I find a place to store it?"

"Anywhere, you can find a place yourself, or hire a storage company, or hire us to store it, although our fees are higher than other companies, our facilities are safer."

"Then I’ll store the ammunition with you."

"Thank you for your trust!" The manager said and personally attended to this major customer.

Everything went very smoothly afterwards.

Lin Yi chose a nice warehouse, a twenty-minute walk from his hotel.

Rent was 30 Coins a day, and as long as he showed his ID, he could get the key from the on-duty guard.

The store delivered the ammunition to the warehouse for free.

He ended up spending 40,000 Coins to buy twenty thousand rounds, five Coins per round, which was cheaper than Lin Yi expected.

After paying for the ammunition, he received a receipt, and a record was made in the database.

He made the purchase casually, yet it drew a lot of attention, with many people inquiring about who this generous customer was.

In this city, there aren’t many people who can spend 40,000 Coins on ammunition without blinking an eye...

Lin Yi then went to a gun store.

The store had a rich variety of guns, mostly assault rifles and shotguns.

Unfortunately, there were no sniper rifles or heavy weapons, but they did have Second Level system pistols.

Each pistol costs 1,500 Coins, which isn’t cheap.

They also sell skills that can enhance the user’s vision or reaction speed.

The market had many interesting things, including equipment and skill books.

There were even materials collected from monster creatures.

For instance, the shell of a car-sized crustacean caught Lin Yi’s interest.

The shopkeeper said this shell came from a Third Level mutant beast, so tough bullets couldn’t penetrate it, requiring hunters to use Electric Arrows and magic to subdue it.

Even so, it was a fierce battle.

That’s why this shell was priced as high as 15,000 Coins.

Lin Yi was quite interested in this shell.

It could be used to reinforce Power Armor or vehicles, and his people might even come up with other uses, assuming the shell truly is Third Level.

Prices at the market were obviously lower than at the store,

and you could even bargain here.

However, generally speaking, wealthier people wouldn’t frequent the market, and there wasn’t anything particularly valuable here.

After wandering the market for three hours.

Lin Yi felt a bit hungry, but he had thoroughly grasped this city’s price situation.

He left the market and quickly hailed a taxi back to the hotel.

In the hotel lobby, a middle-aged man in a white business suit was waiting for him.

This stranger stood at the front desk, talking with the staff.

But as soon as he noticed Lin Yi entering the hotel, he immediately put on an official smile and approached him.

"Sir, are you Lin Yi?"

"Maybe." Lin Yi replied coldly.

Melanie had already reported that someone accompanied by bodyguards was asking the hotel staff about him.

A big man was sitting on a nearby armchair, reading a newspaper.

His arms were about as thick as a normal person’s legs, and his shoulders broader than the chair he was seated in.

He was clearly a Professional with "Extreme Power" skills, at least Second Level.

A young Mage wearing Third Level mage armor and a camo fishing hat, holding a magic staff, stood in another corner of the lobby.

These people were all brought by the suit-smiling man.

You could hear him say: "I have a business proposition I’d like to discuss with you. Would you like to have dinner together?"

"If you’re treating, I find it appealing."

Lin Yi gave a strange smile which made the man in the suit a bit uneasy.

There was a luxury car waiting outside for them, an armored car no less.

The two got into the car while the bodyguards followed in a modified Jeep.

All the way, the two remained silent, but the man in the suit kept sneaking glances at Lin Yi.

Lin Yi didn’t pay him any heed, just stared out the window while Melanie occasionally updated him on what the bodyguards were saying and what she observed outside.

The streets were almost deserted, allowing the car to drive quickly, though they still had to wait at traffic lights.

After ten minutes, the car arrived at a luxury office building, the Lille Building, home to the city’s most opulent restaurant at its top floor.

"This skyscraper is a gem of our city. It opened just two months before the apocalypse hit. Since then, it’s become a shelter for many. You’ll even find..."

The suit-clad man decided to play the role of a guide, sharing all sorts of interesting but useless information.

Lin Yi wasn’t buying it, more intrigued by Melanie’s updates.

He had already left a camera in his hotel suite beforehand.

Now a group dressed in housekeeping attire was meticulously searching his room.

The elevator stopped at the thirtieth floor.

As soon as they stepped out, they were warmly welcomed by staff and led to a massive glass double door.

The staff politely opened the door.

The restaurant here was both luxurious and somewhat peculiar.

The walls were adorned with paintings depicting wild, untamed landscapes, Persian carpets, and the trophies of Professionals’ hunts.

The man in the suit smiled and said: "You can order anything you like."

"Uh-huh..."

Lin Yi picked up the menu and glanced at it: "What does this little symbol next to the fish mean?"

"This dish is currently unavailable. The Americans have occupied the entire coastal area, making it impossible to get fish."

"Got it, you’re fighting for food?"

"That’s right, I believe you understand, hunting and fishing, along with various unorthodox methods, are nearly the only food sources left."

"Then I’ll have the mutated crab meat, mutated snake meat pasta, and..."

The menu had a bunch of intriguing dishes, and Lin Yi didn’t hesitate to order five of them.

Every dish cost several hundred Coins!

Despite the restaurant actually being quite lively, dinner was relatively calm and pleasant.

There were about thirty guests in the restaurant, while a hundred bodyguards waited in another area.

The man rambled about various topics, like how the city survived and various anecdotes.

But Lin Yi was only interested in one thing—

Their war with the Americans!

The suit man was quite perceptive, more than willing to share everything about this war...
