CHAPTER 299: CHAPTER 299 SINGING AND DANCING

Shelter.

Lin Yi stood on the newly built stage, addressing nearly ten thousand Argonia people, and picked up the microphone to speak.

"I will keep it brief."

Many in the audience below were anxious and uneasy, some even frightened, but a few were genuinely elated.

"The Argonan Kingdom attacked me, and I defeated them soundly. I don’t know if I will encounter another Argonia Ark in the future, but if I do, I will attack on sight.

Regardless, I will give you a choice.

You can stay here and serve me, or I will leave you in the nearest Fragment World. Maybe someone will find you there, maybe not, you might die."

As soon as Lin Yi finished speaking, the Argonia people immediately started discussing among themselves.

Some kept shouting, "Argonia is invincible!" or "You will be punished!"

However...

They were quickly killed by their fellow kin standing nearby.

"Anyone who doesn’t want to follow my orders, move over there." Lin Yi pointed to an area enclosed by a wooden fence, saying, "I will leave you safely in the nearest Fragment World.

I have to warn you beforehand, there are people in my team with Mind Reading abilities. All of you will be screened to see if you are loyal to the vampires and their kingdom.

If any of you take pleasure in seeing your family devoured by bloodthirsty creatures, then my city does not welcome you.

If, during the interrogation, such people are found, I will feed them alive to zombies.

So, if you are such a person, it’s best you head to that fenced area.

I promised not to harm them, and I always keep my word."

The crowd erupted in deafening noise, with no one believing such despicable people truly existed.

However... People started leaving the crowd one after another, running towards the fence.

"Husband... what are you doing?!" a young woman screamed.

Because her husband ran out of the crowd.

Then she realized... she fell to her knees, beginning to weep uncontrollably.

She just understood why their illegally born daughter was taken away, despite their desperate attempts to hide her from the vampires.

The girl grew up in their home’s basement, never seeing sunlight.

Yet, one day, a group led by a vampire knight broke into their home and took her away.

Nobody knew of the daughter’s existence, except for her and her husband.

A knight roared, "Harold? You too?! How could you?!"

He watched as his comrade, with his family, headed for the fence. They had three children, unheard of in the kingdom.

Now he finally understood why they were allowed to have an extra child...

Such scenes were commonplace, and it wasn’t long before about a hundred and fifty people gathered behind the fence.

Some Argonians, in blind fury, tried to kill these "traitors," but were stopped by soldiers.

"I promised not to harm these people. Trust me, their future days won’t be good. Now, the rest of you must agree to sign a contract with me, formally becoming my subjects."

After Lin Yi finished speaking, all Argonians received a message.

Many of them, never having dealt with the Ark before, were stunned to see the message appear.

[You have been invited to become a resident of the Space-Time Shelter. Please familiarize yourself with the Shelter’s rules.]

If you agree to these rules, say "I agree," and you will be taken to the Shelter.

But note, the Shelter’s owner is the king and ruler of the Space-Time Shelter.

[As a Shelter resident, you have the rights to]:

-Have a place to live

-Receive food

-Gain protection

[You are prohibited from]:

[You are required to]:

-Obey all orders given by the boss

[Other matters]:

-This contract may be modified at any time.

[Appendix]:

No one, including the boss, may force you against your will to engage in any relations with any man/woman/unknown creature.

[This clause must not be changed or removed from this contract]

The knights and their families were the first to respond, and everyone who agreed was transported to one side, away from the main crowd.

A few minutes later, only about twenty people remained from the original crowd.

They thought that once they agreed, they wouldn’t actually be sent to another place.

With a wave of his hand, Lin Yi teleported them to the other side of the fence, placing them with the traitors.

"Alright, it’s time to expel everyone who disagrees."

Lin Yi said, and then teleported all the Argonians to the vicinity of the steel wall at the border.

The area had been cleared in advance, but everyone clearly saw new zombies emerging from the mist.

With another wave of his hand, the expelled people appeared on the other side of the wall, in front of the mist.

About thirty seconds later, the Shelter connected with a Fragment World.

The mist dissipated, and the expelled people began to run toward the Fragment World.

The main crowd hurled insults at them, but their cursing was soon drowned out by blood-curdling screams.

The expelled people started running back to the Shelter, discovering zombies and mutants everywhere in that Fragment World!

Over a hundred people were torn to pieces by ravenous monsters within seconds.

After devouring their prey, the zombies started running towards the steel wall, but were quickly exterminated by Shelter soldiers wielding assault rifles.

After the border was cleared, the Shelter disconnected from the Fragment World.

"Those bastards who helped bloodthirsty monsters eat your children have now become bloodthirsty monsters themselves, doomed to roam that Fragment World forever..."

Lin Yi explained the rules of the Shelter to the Argonians and answered some of their questions.

Afterward, he prepared a real feast for them.

In the Argonia Kingdom, the food humans received was barely enough to survive. This was the case no matter which Fragment World they happened to live on.

Argonian humans primarily subsisted on flatbread made with water and flour, with meat being a rare luxury, so the abundance of food and variety of dishes before them amazed them.

And the taste... Even the knights, who had relatively good rations, were shocked by the sumptuous meal.

To feed so many people, the cooks were working overtime.

Regina had to recruit women with cooking experience or at least those good at preparing simple meals for their families.

The knights with less severe injuries were allowed to join the feast, as the Shelter’s food could help them recover faster.

Members from various races in the Shelter came to help the Argonians integrate more quickly.

They were all equipped with translators, but the newcomers were still afraid of them, except for the Faru people, who were the most welcomed.

Just like humans on Earth, Argonians had fairies in their myths and legends.

Elves were considered kind, innocent beings, and having them stand by Lin Yi’s side greatly improved the Argonians’ perception of him.

As for the others... like the beastmen, the Argonians felt fear toward them.

Aside from food and aliens, Lin Yi also provided entertainment, including dance performances by some women.

Katsya and her band played a deeply moving song, which enchanted almost everyone who heard it.

The dirty, ragged peasants were stunned by the beauty and grace of the elven maidens.

They were also amazed by the performance of the voluptuous, red-skinned alien women.

Many women felt it necessary to cover their husbands’ eyes before the performance ended.

As the feast began, movies began playing on the big screen, along with scenes of the siege on the Rusted Castle and battles with red zombies. Most

people only noticed the videos after they were full, then they were a bit... shocked.

Knights who had visited Tilian and witnessed it firsthand confirmed the authenticity of the videos.

If this Ark can truly defeat such armies... what is there to fear?

Moreover, the miserable defeat of the knights and vampires clearly indicated that their new master was extremely powerful.

There were many different opinions and considerable disagreement, but everyone kept drinking, as they had all been under immense pressure...

However, no fights broke out.

Should anyone attempt to cause trouble, a few beastmen would approach them, and they would quickly sober up.

While everyone else was enjoying the feast, Lin Yi was hard at work.

The Shelter suddenly faced another housing crisis.

The boss, Natasha, and Chen Youyou had no idea what kind of houses to build for the Shelter’s new residents.

Settling the Child of the Sun was relatively simple as they were not picky about their living spaces and were surprisingly eager to learn.

They quickly adapted to the benefits brought by Earth’s scientific advancements.

But merely getting the Argonians to wash their hands before meals was quite tricky. Is it realistic to expect them to live in Soviet-style apartment blocks?

They needed to figure all this out and decide where the Argonians would live.

Lin Yi had significant plans for the knights,

these warriors could withstand a horde of red zombies, and there were quite a few of them!

Unlike the Child of the Sun, Argonian knights had undergone years of training. They knew discipline, formations, melee weapons, teamwork...

If the Child of the Sun were a group of barbarians, the knights would be a Roman Legion.

Before dinner, Lin Yi went to Tilian to pick up his soldiers and collect the spoils of war.

Now there were far fewer enemies at the foot of the wall, and the people of Tilian expected that the last of the city’s besiegers would be wiped out by the zombie hordes in about three hours.

The defense of the Rusted Castle was highly successful, Jelat’s troops had been recalled, and with their newly acquired radio skills, they didn’t even need to send messengers.

Lin Yi picked up his soldiers and also took away huge cubic shapes of scrap metal from the Half-Mechanical People and Mutants.

This time his harvest was only half of what it was last time, about eighty thousand corpses, but it was better than nothing.

After returning to the Shelter, Lin Yi quickly had dinner and got back to work.

He had to thoroughly search the tower ruins of the new fragment for anything useful...
