Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields
Chapter 302 Nuclear Power Plant
CHAPTER 302: CHAPTER 302 NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
In front of the nuclear power plant.
Lin Yi saw that both sides had about six hundred defenders and a thousand attackers.
Interestingly, the defenders’ weapons were far superior to those of the attackers.
The attackers, of course, had military vehicles, but the defenders had ways to counter them.
Once he was in position, the show began!
Soldiers, civilian volunteers, beastmen, and the Children of the Sun were all summoned to the battlefield.
Lin Yi even deployed two thousand knights ahead of them and commanded them to generate powerful aura barriers.
Louis drove the steam steel beast to take the lead.
This metal monster’s length and width were equivalent to the size of four heavy tanks placed side by side.
It had six flamethrower turrets and two massive long-barreled cannons that fired bombs filled with burning agents instead of traditional shells.
These bombs were essentially upgraded versions of the ones Louis used on that Moving Island.
Since Louis had learned a lot from studying howitzers, this vehicle’s accuracy had also greatly improved.
The veteran had promised that as soon as he completed the modification of this tank, he would immediately build an improved howitzer of his own.
But no one knew when this could be achieved, or even if it was genuinely possible.
For he was always busy modifying this or rebuilding that...
Helicopters and heavy vehicles were also deployed.
In about ninety seconds, an army of fifteen thousand suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
The people from the three warring factions in front of the nuclear plant were all left in shock.
Lin Yi was not worried at all that some fool would decide to open fire on his people.
What harm could bullets do to them anyway? They had barriers, barriers strong enough to withstand basic magic.
If someone attempted to use advanced magic like Fireball Technique or Fire Wall against them, the shelter’s mages could always use their own crafted barriers to protect everyone.
Tanks could certainly inflict some damage on them too.
However, those three frightened factions quickly sent delegations.
Lin Yi and Solomon rode out on hovering "Dagger" motorbikes to meet them.
They stopped in the middle location between the shelter army and the three factions.
The first delegation arrived in a military jeep with a Russian flag on it.
Following closely were a battle-scarred armored personnel carrier and a reinforced civilian jeep.
Two men wearing third-level armor descended from the military jeep.
Both were around forty years old, looking like veterans who had gone through numerous hardships.
They didn’t relax their vigilance for a moment.
It was obvious that they anticipated an attack.
But they assumed the attack would come from the other two delegations, not these overwhelmingly powerful strangers.
Because had the latter desired, they would have long turned into cannon fodder, and surviving would have been impossible.
The door of the civilian jeep opened, revealing a blonde beauty in third-level magic armor.
She was accompanied by two assistants, one a middle-aged man, the other a young woman almost still a child.
The last negotiation representative was a tall man about 1.96 meters high.
It was evident he had been a bodybuilder, but the mixed third and fourth-level armor he wore barely covered his belly.
He had four bodyguards, all beautiful women.
"Who do I have the honor of speaking with?" the blonde beauty asked sweetly, but her eyes stayed fixed on Lin Yi.
She had long, graceful legs, an alluring figure, and a cute face.
Lin Yi retracted his helmet into his armor.
"Your English is pretty good."
"Of course I speak it, but I’m not sure if Reina does; he probably doesn’t have the ability to learn a foreign language," the woman giggled, looking at the tall man.
"Who are you calling stupid?! You’re just a tramp with forty men serving you!" the tall man retorted in fluent English.
"My men certainly can’t compare to yours," the woman said, blowing a kiss to Reina.
"You damned slut!"
The man erupted.
His face turned red, fists clenched, and he even sucked in his stomach.
"A bunch of fools..." one of the ex-military men muttered. He was from the third faction.
He and his companion approached Lin Yi.
"I’m Peter, head of security for this nuclear plant facility. And you are?"
"Lin Yi."
Lin Yi spoke, then watched as the expressions on the others’ faces changed.
"Can you tell me why you’re fighting for this particular... facility?"
"Greed," Peter answered, looking left and then right.
"We provide them electricity, and they provide us food, but now they all want free electricity."
"Understood."
"We shed blood for that food, but you’re constantly demanding more!" the bodybuilder shouted.
"I agree," the woman pouted.
"More and more survivors are coming to this nuclear plant... The situation in Cologne and Düsseldorf is the same; there’s simply not enough food for everyone to eat.
We’ve implemented rationing as much as possible, but we’re still starving," the nuclear plant’s security head stated frankly.
Lin Yi stroked his chin, smiling.
"Can’t you hold on for just another day or two..."
His words left the members of each delegation in shock.
But he didn’t explain, just waved his hand, and piles of food appeared around them.
There were sacks filled with potatoes, cabbages, carrots, fruits, and even meat sealed in plastic containers.
Once the initial shock subsided among the delegates,
Lin Yi continued,
"They all call me ’Supplier,’ and I’m here because...
I heard I could find people here who want to buy what I have. You can check out the goods and prices I offer."
Solomon conjured up some exquisitely made brochures from a warehouse, distributing them to all the delegation members, even those warriors who were still visibly shaken.
"This is unbelievable, but...we hardly have any Coins..."
Peter, after doing some quick calculations, said.
Seeing the question in Lin Yi’s eyes, he decided to explain further.
"We don’t have enough food, so we keep buying what we need from them.
A pound of food costs ten Coins, but you have to kill fifty zombies to earn those ten Coins."
"I understand, but there’s always a solution. Right, I’m purchasing Power Cores, even those that are used up, and Vaccine Bracelets.
Similarly, those used-up ones, and I can also recharge the cores and bracelets.
I can transform outdated equipment into newer ones, repair equipment, exchange them for equipment of the same Level, and provide many other services."
Lin Yi glanced at Solomon.
Solomon took out another batch of brochures, detailing the various services offered by the Shelter, the items they were willing to purchase, and their values.
"I also want to buy some nuclear fuel and all the waste produced by this nuclear power plant."
"I’m sorry, but...this is an ultra-modern nuclear power plant constructed using the latest innovative technology from Rosatom.
It doesn’t produce waste...I mean, what it produces are not waste, but chemicals used in the pharmaceutical industry," Peter responded frankly.
"Then I’d like to buy those chemicals. I’ll come again, and we can discuss price and quantity."
"Sounds good," Peter replied immediately and promptly shook hands with Lin Yi.
At this moment, that blond beauty asked.
"It says here you’re buying rare materials, computers, and smartphones. Do these have to be in working condition?"
"No, I’m only interested in the metals inside them, whether they work or not."
"Thank you," she replied sweetly and then began discussing with her entourage.
The big burly man asked, "It says here you pay with food instead of Coins, but prices are marked in Coins."
"You’re really dense! Obviously, if you sell something worth a million Coins, you’ll get food worth a million Coins in return."
The woman said, not lifting her head from the service list.
The man muttered something in response, but the woman ignored him.
The meeting continued for about ten more minutes.
All parties raised questions with each other, and by the end, everyone felt more or less satisfied.
Throughout the negotiation, the soldiers from the three camps held their positions tensely.
They had completely forgotten their past grudges, knowing that if these camps couldn’t reach an agreement, all three armies would be wiped off the face of the Earth!
The Shelter Army’s numbers were ten times theirs.
Furthermore, helicopters loaded with missiles hovered above the battlefield, scouting the area, making everyone involved in the conflict increasingly anxious.
It felt like an eternity until their Commander finally returned, but he did not order an attack or retreat.
Instead, he instructed the soldiers to approach those strangers and take some sacks.
Nobody knew what was in the sacks, but when they saw the contents, they couldn’t believe their eyes!
It was food inside, not bland military rations, but real food!
As a gesture of goodwill, Lin Yi gave them some samples of the goods he brought for them to taste.
The quantity wasn’t much, but it was enough to trigger all sorts of rumors.
Back among their own, Lin Yi sent everyone back to the Shelter.
Then he, together with Peter, headed to the nuclear power plant.
On the other side of the makeshift wall, a surprise awaited him.
This surprise was prepared for those attackers.
There were ten modern tanks and six armored personnel carriers. Some vehicles were a bit worn, but this did nothing to lessen their intimidating power.
The soldiers were also well-equipped.
Many of them wore bulletproof vests, and some wore System Armor.
They had Archers, Mages, machine guns, and many infantry bearing assault rifles.
Defeating such a force would not be easy, which left Lin Yi puzzled.
If the other two camps united to attack this nuclear power plant, they might be able to seize it, though at a terrible cost.
Yet they each launched an attack individually!
On the other side of the concrete wall was a city in every sense of the word.
This was a typical post-apocalyptic settlement, built from dismantled vehicles, building debris, and anything else people could find.
Some houses were basically stuck together with sticks, with their inhabitants looking famished, and they were filthy all over.
The stench was so overwhelming that tears welled up in Lin Yi’s eyes.
Peter felt it necessary to explain why the nuclear power plant was in such dire straits.
"There are more and more refugees fleeing from central Germany every day. The situation there is really bad.
A Zombie Lord has been destroying one camp after another, only Berlin continues to hold out..."
Berlin?
Lin Yi was momentarily stunned.
That’s where he was supposed to go...
