Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train
Chapter 645 - 314: Akse!
CHAPTER 645: CHAPTER 314: AKSE!
Two vehicles advanced along the Gobi Desert by the railway towards Akse, the wheels crushing gravel and sand, and the engine vibrations made the sand and dry grass on the ground shake as they traveled.
At this moment, the moving vehicles took a turn up a hill and stopped below a huge wind-eroded rock. Then, everyone got out of the cars together and walked to the edge of a wind-swept hill. In their view, there was a town appearing in the expansive wilderness in the distance, solitary in the center of the vast Gobi. This Akse Town had a national highway and northern railway line passing through, making it slightly larger than the previous Rob Town, with the whole town covered in wind and sand, blending with the Gobi.
There were no tall buildings, mostly old and low Western houses. Some more modern roads and streets were now incredibly desolate, occupied by yellow sand.
A few people took out electronic binoculars and looked in the direction of Akse City. The town appeared deserted, but quite a few caravans were stationed in the city at the time. Lin Xian adjusted the direction of the binoculars, observing outside Akse City, and saw along the national highway a number of survivor caravans fleeing, gathering near an abandoned gas station. This observation did not match what Lin Xian had previously anticipated from radio broadcasts.
"Wasn’t it said that other caravans and armed personnel were prohibited from entering the city?" Ning Jing held the electronic binoculars, speaking seriously: "It seems like nobody cares."
"Ah Bai?"
Ah Bai shook his head, indicating no discovery.
Qian Deli said: "These caravans should be regular ones, but gathering here might also have some connection to the sand bandit alliance."
"Are you talking about apprehension?" Monica asked.
Qian Deli replied indifferently: "It may not necessarily be apprehension, some might just find it troublesome. There are zombies everywhere here, the spirit vibration value isn’t low, there will definitely be Abnormal Bodies appearing after nightfall. Beyond Akse lies thousands of kilometers of uninhabited areas, it’s best to hurry during daylight. So for us, the less trouble, the better. Those sand bandits are exploiting this mindset of survivors."
Monica lowered the binoculars, saying lightly: "With so many large caravans gathered here, they don’t seem to take sand bandits as a big deal."
Lin Xian looked at KIKI, who was operating on the mobile terminal, and asked: "How is it?"
"Hehe, you guessed it right, this Iron Alliance Order can really receive information packets from nearby areas, just like the Phoenix Order. There are many similar signal characteristics appearing near Akse." KIKI tapped lightly and continued: "Inside Akse, however, there aren’t any, it seems they dare not directly attack Akse."
Lin Xian nodded: "Sand bandits could manage some harassment against smaller caravans, but there are at least one to two thousand people stationed here with dozens of caravans, they would have to be out of their minds to attack here."
Ning Jing frowned at this moment: "Then why does the Fu Lu Shou Team dare to charge tolls here?"
"Seeing is believing, hearing is deceitful." Lin Xian’s gaze fixed on the distant town, he turned to create a signal antenna several meters high behind him: "But since they dare to say such things in front of so many caravans, there must be some reason behind it."
Having said that, Lin Xian pressed the communicator, tuning it with the Joint Train signal communications.
"Testing, Teacher Chen, can you hear me?"
"Buzz buzz... Lin Xian, I can hear you now."
"Brother Shi."
"Hey, Brother Lin, go ahead."
Through the signal poles he created along the way connecting with the Joint Train’s signal, Lin Xian directly arranged: "Brother Shi, Teacher Chen, the Joint Train can advance another 100 miles, then as discussed, organize 10 assault teams. I’ll provide the coordinates later for dispersed action."
"Alright!"
Then Lin Xian stood up and said to everyone: "Our people have arrived, let’s go and visit that old friend in the town."
"I heard there’s a bar even in this desolate place, quite intriguing." Qian Deli was enthused: "It’s indeed more freeing than the days spent in Extreme Night."
Monica reached the vehicle, about to get on when she suddenly said to Lin Xian: "Wait for me a moment."
After speaking, she directly activated her Power Armor and stepped out, removing the inner lining clothes, changing into a desert sunscreen windbreaker, draped a sandy scarf and wore sunglasses, leaving Lin Xian dumbfounded—the woman actually had casual clothes stored in her Power Armor...
The two off-road vehicles started once more, speeding through the wind and sand towards Akse City, with waves of heat surging across the wilderness, scattered zombies continuously darting towards the vehicles.
Swish swish!
At this moment, two gleaming cold aluminum blades shot out, spinning like a storm, skimming the horizon, instantly slicing all the attacking zombies on the sides of the convoy cleanly.
Sitting in the passenger seat, KIKI’s eyes glowed with telekinetic waves, the corner of her mouth slightly lifted: "Very handy."
Lin Xian frowned looking at her: "Where did you keep them, I hadn’t noticed?"
"On the roof." KIKI pointed upward: "Just brought these two to test them."
Lin Xian chuckled: "This technique is good, a definitive method for clearing Monster Tides of zombie hordes."
"Just not sure if those Abnormal Bodies can be cut down, we’ll have to try then." KIKI responded.
Monica, sitting in the back seat, listening to their conversation, smiled: "Captain Lin, how come everyone following you is so capable? How did you recruit your team members?"
"Recruit?" Upon hearing the term recruit, Lin Xian recalled when he was in Jiang City posting to recruit members for the Infinite Train plan, yet didn’t find anyone. Chen Sixuan and KIKI, to a certain extent, were outside of the plan.
