Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train
Chapter 761 - 340: The Eerie Nest
CHAPTER 761: CHAPTER 340: THE EERIE NEST
Upon seeing the humanoid creature, Lin Xian’s first reaction was to strike immediately!
He raised his hand and pointed, and the Mechanical Energy Cannon, along with 25 Thunder Falcon Drones, simultaneously unleashed a barrage of pulse beams aimed straight at the monster’s distorted face.
Whoosh!
Who would have thought that the white shadow would retreat into the tunnel in the blink of an eye? It seemed that dozens of pulse beams hit something, causing an explosion and smoke to rise.
Soon after, a creepy laughter echoed continuously from the depths of the tunnel, as if inviting them to follow.
Ning Jing, seeing the monster disappear, immediately looked at Ah Bai.
Ah Bai shook his head peculiarly: "How strange, I feel like we’re being watched, but there’s no obvious mark on us..."
"Perhaps in a place like this, no mark is needed at all," Monica said sharply.
"What do you mean?"
Ning Jing looked at her: "Are you suggesting this is originally the world of the Dark Creatures?"
"How could that be!" Qian Deli immediately retorted: "If no mark is needed, wouldn’t our base have been gone long ago?"
"This is our world."
Lin Xian gazed at the tunnel with a heavy expression and said, "It’s just that it’s been polluted by the Star Abyss."
"Why didn’t the monster attack us and just ran away?" At this point, KIKI was puzzled. It was their first time encountering an Abnormal Body that retreated without leaving a mark on them.
"Let’s go!"
Without much thought, Lin Xian immediately set off toward the direction of the White City Rail Station. The eerie nature of White City was beginning to show, and what they could do was to solve the problem quickly and get back to the train, breaking out of the Star Abyss!
Buzz...
As soon as they moved, the signal frequency inside the Mecha began to fluctuate, even though KIKI and Brother Huo were right in front and behind, the communicators were filled with sharp static noise, and inside the holographic helmet, Lin Xian adjusted his breathing, keeping his nerves fully tense.
As they travelled through the darkness, the number of ’people’ on the streets increased, becoming more and more dense.
Lin Xian noticed that these ’people’ seemed to be mainly gathering towards a central area. Realizing this, he immediately stopped, unfolded the old map of White City, and found that the direction of the gathering was indeed the central area of the city.
White City is a mountain city, its layout was elongated, with mountains to the north and south and expansiveness to the east and west. Besides the city center, most of the buildings were low and old.
From the map, it looked like an eye amidst the mountains, with the White City Rail Station being positioned in the eastern suburbs.
But as Lin Xian kept running, he felt something was off. Before, when Grace came to scout, the journey had been relatively smooth. Now that they came specially trying to avoid the northern wastewater treatment plant by detouring, there was a vague feeling that something wasn’t right.
"Everyone." Monica, running behind Lin Xian, spoke up: "There are many sounds getting closer and closer to us, which is not good."
Hearing this, Lin Xian looked at the dense crowd of mummies looking up at them from the street below and said immediately, "Hide in the buildings, don’t let these things see us!"
Whoosh!
As he spoke, Lin Xian directly leaped onto the outer wall of a tall building, accelerating vertically with boosters, and then plunged into the top floor. All the glass in the building had shattered and disappeared, standing on the ground like decaying fish bones. The others followed suit, rushing into the corridor.
Bam!
In an instant, the sound of heavy footsteps broke the silence in the corridor. It was pitch black all around, and under the night vision and searchlights, there were broken bricks, wall skins, and debris everywhere. This seemed to be an apartment building, just over a dozen stories high. The apartment room numbers on the corridor doors were entirely rotten and illegible, with footsteps echoing throughout.
"Grace, you go scout!"
The situation outside was bizarre, with more and more people appearing. Considering the safety of Ah Bai and Monica’s reconnaissance, Lin Xian decided to send Grace first. The group planned to hide in the apartment building to observe the situation.
[Understood, you can imagine Grace]
Click, click, click.
Grace quickly assumed a sprinting posture, and the sound of crisp footsteps swiftly disappeared into the dark corridor, heading towards the street outside.
Meanwhile, Lin Xian and the others directly found an apartment to hide in.
The original security door of the apartment had rusted, and with a light push, the door hinges broke off and fell with a thud inside.
Lin Xian casually fashioned a metallic door to seal it, then said, "Let’s wait a few minutes and see what the situation is before we act."
Ning Jing nodded and signaled to Xiao Qing, who immediately entered the rooms to check with a knife.
Only after Lin Xian made a few completely sealed iron shutters to cover all the windows did he turn on a light in the living room.
Instantly, the light drove back the darkness, revealing a fully gray living room. The sofa, coffee table, TV, TV cabinet, and wooden floor, aside from retaining discernible shapes, were all a gray haze. All the wall skins and floors were layered together.
"That was scary just now, how did so many people suddenly appear on the street, without even time to react."
KIKI said, reaching out to pat a nearby bookshelf, which unexpectedly crumbled into a heap of rotten fragments, stirring up a cloud of dust.
Qian Deli also looked at the state of the apartment, then turned to Lin Xian and said
