CHAPTER 556: CHAPTER 556: CHILDREN

And sure enough, there she was.

Su Jiyai was standing on a quiet road outside the base. The moonlight shone softly on her figure as she stood with a glowing system interface floating in front of her.

Qin Feng walked up to her, footsteps light. "You didn’t put a barrier."

Su Jiyai didn’t even look surprised. She answered calmly, "I knew you’d wake up. You’re too sharp to miss something like this."

She glanced sideways at him. "And besides, I figured you’d be curious."

Qin Feng smirked. "Not really... but I’m here now."

He stood beside her and looked at the floating system interface, full of blueprints and numbers.

"What are you working on?" he asked.

Su Jiyai pointed at a few details on the screen. "I’m building a factory. A place where we can process all the beast meat we hunted. Clean it, pack it, preserve it."

"Smart," Qin Feng nodded. "And then what?"

"Then I’ll open a shop to sell it," she said. "A physical store."

Qin Feng raised his eyebrows, impressed. "You’ve thought it through."

Su Jiyai nodded. "I don’t just want to make money. I want to help too."

Qin Feng tilted his head. "Help?"

Su Jiyai’s voice became softer.

"There are a lot of disabled people in our base. People who can’t fight anymore, or never could. Some were hurt in the past. Some lost limbs or sight... But they still want to live, to work, to feel useful."

She looked up at him. "I want to hire them. Give them steady jobs in the factory or the shop. Things they can manage. Let them feel needed again."

Qin Feng looked at her quietly for a second. Then he nodded with a small smile.

"That’s a noble idea," he said. "Really. You always think about others, even when no one’s watching."

Su Jiyai chuckled softly.

"It was actually my little brother who came up with the idea. He always talked about helping people who were left behind or couldn’t fight. I didn’t think much of it before, but it stayed in my mind."

Qin Feng raised an eyebrow.

"Still, you’re the one making it happen. That means you’ve thought about those people too. You wouldn’t put in all this effort just because of a small request."

Hearing that, Su Jiyai felt something warm in her chest.

She looked at him, her eyes a little shiny from emotion, and smiled.

"You really know how to make me feel like I’m doing the right thing."

Qin Feng chuckled and stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind. He rested his chin on her shoulder as he watched her place buildings and decorate the layout of the new factory.

Su Jiyai let out a soft laugh, feeling his warmth around her. "What are you doing?" she asked, amused.

"I’m supporting you," Qin Feng replied, his voice playful.

She raised an eyebrow, glancing at his hands, which were clearly not staying still on her waist. "Supporting? You’re distracting me more than helping."

Qin Feng just laughed quietly.

Su Jiyai shook her head and leaned back slightly into him. Then she turned her head and gave him a light kiss on the cheek. "Now that’s support," she whispered with a grin.

Qin Feng’s smile widened, and he pulled her closer, letting her lean on him more comfortably.

After a while, Su Jiyai finished everything. She added a few more small buildings around the factory, like a cafeteria and resting quarters, then shut down the glowing system interface with a satisfied sigh.

She turned to face Qin Feng and raised one eyebrow. "So? Do you like what you saw?"

Qin Feng looked at her and started to say something clever, but then his eyes drifted down for a second. He paused.

Su Jiyai followed his gaze and saw that the collar of her shirt had slipped a bit, showing some of her cleavage. Her face turned red instantly.

Qin Feng smirked and teased, "Now I’m definitely liking the view."

Su Jiyai’s cheeks burned. She glared at him, her voice sharp and embarrassed.

"You seriously know how to make me feel ashamed!" She quickly pulled her collar up and fixed her shirt.

Qin Feng shrugged and said softly,

"We’re dating now. And one day, we’re going to get married too. Sooner or later, there won’t be anything you’ll need to hide from me."

Su Jiyai huffed, half-annoyed, half-flustered. "You’re pushing your love too hard sometimes."

But Qin Feng just smiled. "I’m talking about our future. It’s going to happen."

Su Jiyai looked at him, then laughed a little. Her heart softened. She imagined their future, one full of peace and happiness.

"I wonder..." she said quietly. "One day, maybe we’ll have a little version of you. And one of me. A little Qin Feng and a little Su Jiyai running around."

Qin Feng’s eyes lit up with joy. Just the thought seemed to fill him with excitement.

"We’ll have a son first," he said immediately. "Then a daughter."

Su Jiyai frowned. "Why a son first? Are you being old-fashioned or something?"

Qin Feng shook his head quickly.

"No, it’s not that. I just... If our daughter comes first, who’s going to protect her after we’re gone? I want her to have someone strong beside her. If we have a son first, I’ll raise him to protect his sister no matter what. I’ll turn that boy into a real monster if I have to."

He smiled, half-joking. "And if our daughter looks like you, that would be perfect. I’ll get to see your childhood all over again."

Su Jiyai’s face turned even redder, and she glared at him, trying to hide her smile. "You really know how to say things that mess with my heart."

Then she got a little serious. "Even if our daughter is born first, I’ll raise her to be strong. Capable. She won’t need anyone to protect her."

Qin Feng frowned slightly. "I don’t know... Ever since the zombies came, I’ve hated training. Not because it’s hard, but because it always leads to fighting. To danger. And I don’t want our daughter to face that. I want to keep her safe."

Su Jiyai looked at him for a moment. She could see where his fear came from.

But then she spoke firmly. "That’s not fair to our son. He’s our child too. We can’t pour everything into protecting one and forget the other."

Qin Feng blinked and paused. He hadn’t thought of it like that. Deep down, he realized that his desire to protect their daughter came from his love for Su Jiyai. Just thinking about a little girl that looked like her made him want to shield her from the world.

He let out a small chuckle. "You’re right. I got too caught up in my own thoughts. I was being selfish."

Su Jiyai smiled gently. "You’re not selfish. You’re just... human."

Then she added, teasing, "And besides, I learned from the best. You’ve taught me so much. Maybe I’ve just gotten a bit more mature than you."

Qin Feng laughed and wrapped his arms around her again. "Then I guess I’ll have to catch up."

They stood there under the moonlight, holding each other close, already dreaming of the peaceful future they were going to build together, one where laughter would replace screams, and children would replace the sound of gunfire.

For now, that future was still far away.

But it didn’t feel impossible anymore.

In Luna Moon Base.

Leader Zhang sat calmly behind a large desk, sipping his tea as if everything in the world was peaceful. In front of him stood his nephew, face red with anger and fists clenched at his sides.

"Uncle!" the nephew shouted. "Boss Su is going too far this time! They ignored our message and even said we shouldn’t play with things we can’t handle. Do they really think they can just insult us like that and we won’t do anything?"

Leader Zhang raised an eyebrow but didn’t look surprised. He placed his teacup down and gave a small chuckle.

"Boss Su has gotten too arrogant," he said slowly.

"She probably thinks she can do whatever she wants just because she’s got some power now. But she’s forgotten that there are others watching. It’s time we remind her that we are not weak either."

The nephew’s eyes were still filled with fury, but now they also held a trace of worry. He hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"But... what if she knows everything already? What if she’s acting like this because she’s confident?"

Leader Zhang shook his head right away. "Impossible," he said, voice steady.

"We found personal items from some of our missing people lying on the ground almost three kilometers away from her base. That place was clearly a trap. There’s no way they survived. And even if they did, how long could they last in such a dangerous zone?"

He leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing slightly.
