CHAPTER 318: CHAPTER 318: THE STRANGE TREE

"What’s up with the tree?" Chu Hao walked up to Little White and picked it up.

"Cannibalism. It has not only drained all the nutrients from the plants around it, but it has also eaten many animals in this area.

If you are not careful, you will become its next meal." Little White eyed the tree as it explained.

"You mean it’s like a demon plant?" asked Chu Miao, who had some knowledge about cannibalistic plants.

Something about it feels off." Little White commented and at the same time jumped out of Chu Hao’s arms again and started walking around the tree to examine it closely.

After learning that this tiger seemed to have lived for thousands of years, Chu Miao didn’t question its judgment and let it look around.

After walking around the tree twice, the tiger finally stopped at a spot and looked closely.

It was examining a spot at the base of the tree, just a little above the roots.

No one knew what it had spotted, but it was so focused that it piqued their curiosity.

"Little White, what did you find?" Chu Hao was itching to run over to the tiger cub but thought better of it.

What if the tree went crazy and tried to eat him? What should he do then?

"Master, come and take a look." Being called over by her contract beasts, Chu Miao didn’t know what to find, but she still walked over cautiously.

Ye Xuan, having vowed a long time ago to protect his girlfriend didn’t stay behind but instead followed behind her.

He thought that if something happened, he could at least be her shield.

When Little White saw the imposing man walking behind its master like a follower, it did nothing, as if already used to this scene.

Without saying anything, it looked back at the tree.

Chu Miao examined the place Little White was looking at and finally spotted what had made the tiger so surprised. There was a pattern drawn on the trunk of the tree.

Even though Chu Miao had never seen the pattern before, she could feel the chill emanating from it.

Whatever that pattern was for, it was nothing good. Looking at how the plants surrounding the tree were dying while the rest of the forest was absorbing the spiritual energy from the ancient battlefield and becoming better and more lush, it was obvious that something was indeed wrong with the tree.

The more Chu Miao looked at the pattern, the more she felt uncomfortable and shuddered.

Ye Xuan felt the girl beside him shiver and immediately moved to hold her in his arms.

"Is something wrong, darling?" He asked with concern.

"The pattern drawn on this tree seems to be a type of a dark array. I say a dark array because I can feel that the energy produced from it resembles death energy." Chu Miao was happy that someone was worrying about her but she also hoped that at a time like this, Ye Xuan would be a bit selfish and stay away from that place.

Just as the others wanted to walk forward too and take a look, Chu Miao raised her hand and stopped them.

"Don’t come closer, the energy in this place isn’t right. It might invade your bodies and cause trouble." She warned before forming a few seals with her hands and throwing something she had formed like a small arrow at the pattern.

The whole tree seemed to flicker as if a layer of protection covered it and disturbing it would trigger something.

Before Chu Miao could understand what was happening she smelled the coppery smell of blood and before she could react, a long arm grabbed her waist and carried her while moving backwards fast.

Little White seemed to have sensed danger too and ran faster than a rabbit far from the tree.

As Ye Xuan set Chu Miao down next to the others who had been standing at a distance, they saw the branches of the tree that had been hanging low start moving towards them like tentacles.

This was a creepy sight no matter who saw it. Even Chu Miao, who was used to supernatural scenes from her previous life, still found it unsettling.

Everyone took out their weapons and began chopping the branches that extended to them before they could grab anyone.

Although they didn’t know how the tree ate people as Little White had claimed, they didn’t want to take a risk and find out.

As the people fought, Little White had run back to the base of the tree again. It continued to examine the pattern on the tree and finally determined what it was.

Knowing what that was made it so angry that it suddenly enlarged and clawed at the tree.

This time, it wasn’t joking around. It used the strength of a golden core cultivator to claw at the tree.

The small forbidden technique used to protect the tree couldn’t protect it from such strength and it was chopped down.

While clawing, Little White gave one angry roar that shook the entire mountain.

Chu Miao and the others had to cover their ears with spiritual energy to protect themselves.

The rest all fell to the ground vomiting blood and writhing in pain as they felt as if their internal organs and bones were being crushed into paste.
