Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 102: Saving Her Parents
CHAPTER 102: CHAPTER 102: SAVING HER PARENTS
Her heart almost stopped beating.
She subconsciously ran toward the octopus’ tentacle.
"Zerra!" Cassias caught her in time. "Calm down."
She frowned until he whispered something in her ear. In desperation, she hurriedly nodded. She knew the reason she was so determined to save her parents this time.
The look on her dad’s face was familiar, reminding her of a figure who currently should have been staying in the celestial realm.
She approached the octopus again, bringing her pitchfork. The spiritual energy in her body flowed out, channeling every ounce of its power to the weapon.
Then, she saw something that made her eyes widen in shock. She was pleasantly surprised to see the soil wrapping around the tentacle, rendering it immobile.
"Zee, now!"
She watched the monstrous figure in front of her, which was getting closer and closer. Slimy and disgusting. Then, she took a giant leap upwards, her body as light as a feather with the help of the spiritual energy.
The massive tentacle was presented in front of her, about to enter its gaping mouth. She swung her pitchfork with all power she had.
Luckily, Cassias had helped in masking her presence using his mental power, so the octopus hadn’t noticed her presence until the second tentacle was gone.
Cassias’ lightning stunned the octopus, and the sudden emergence of earth wrapping itself on the tentacle was a timely help in stopping its movement.
Zerra’s pitchfork managed to cut the tentacle. It fell into the water, wriggling and releasing her parents. She took a deep breath as she fell, using the last drop of her spiritual power on the gaping mouth of the octopus.
She stabbed it with her pitchfork, reaching deep into the walls of its mouth. Without bothering to pull it out, she retreated and turned to her parents.
With such energy overdrawn, she should have collapsed, but she didn’t. Relying on sheer willpower, she dragged her parents from the water.
From the angle she couldn’t see, a giant tentacle swung in Zerra’s direction in retaliation. The octopus was incredibly angry right now, having lost two tentacles in a row.
However, before the tentacle could reach Zerra, it was scorched black. Lightning of terrifying power had struck it down, rendering it useless. The octopus felt its connection to the tentacle was severed.
"Give them to me." It was unknown when Cassias had reached her. He took her parents from her, quickly bringing them to a safe place before returning to Zerra. Everything was done in seconds.
He carried her princess-style, sensing her exhaustion when her eyes suddenly closed. Zerra, as if instinctively knew that she was in safe hands, she relaxed.
"Sir..." Captain Dalton was extremely shocked by the series of operations conducted by this pair.
Especially the girl. She looked small and soft in appearance, but she dared to face the gigantic octopus head-on like that.
"Can you bring them to a safer place?" Cassias asked. He glanced at the octopus, which was gradually retreating back to the water. Just in case, he didn’t want this thing to retaliate in anger and take it out on Zerra’s parents again.
Her effort would have been in vain.
He knew this girl’s stubbornness too well. Even nine bulls couldn’t drag her back once she had decided on something. Even more so when the situation was extremely perilous and involved the people close to her.
So, he just let her be, assisting from the side to make sure that nothing would go wrong.
"Of course, Sir." Captain Dalton hurriedly told his people to bring Zerra’s parents away.
Then, Cassias brought Zerra to the military vehicle, in a place far away from prying eyes.
The moment he entered the military vehicle, the girl in his arms twitched. Her thin figure turned almost weightless in an instant. The snow-white fox lay in his arms, as if sleeping soundly.
He put Zerra in his space. Luckily, she had turned into a fox, so it was easy to handle. Currently, there was no place safer than his space.
He went out again after a while, bringing his longsword. The business here hadn’t been finished yet.
"I have carried them to the resident’s house. One of them offered to take them in." Captain Dalton reported to him. "We have the doctor tending to them too."
The two people had hints of blood coating their hands, and the middle part of their bodies. It can be seen that the octopus’ tentacle had been clutching them too tightly.
Cassias nodded and turned his attention to the octopus, who had gone back in rampaging just as he guessed. This time, its attack was even more devastating. One swing of its tentacle shattered a tall tree, sending people sprawling and shattering some of their bones.
"Don’t retreat! Attack with your full power!" Colonel James commanded.
The people tried hard to avoid the rampaging octopus’ tentacles. There were only three tentacles, while the remaining two were still holding people in them.
Under the onslaught of so many people, the octopus finally showed signs of being at a disadvantage. It was about to direct its two tentacles on its mouth to free them from holding people when Cassias struck it with his lightning.
He controlled his power, making sure that the lightning wouldn’t reach the people it was holding.
Captain Dalton widened his eyes when he saw this. He finally had hope of the three people getting saved after witnessing Cassias’ power. The two people there were his subordinates!
They had fought against this monster too, sacrificing themselves to save the nearby people who were oblivious to danger. Those people had been using some sort of pole to take water because they had been too scared to approach the lake.
Nevertheless, it still didn’t end well. They were still dragged toward the lake.
It was basically the first thing they saw when he led his team there, before the octopus rose from the water and revealed its gigantic form.
"Move aside!" Cassias warned them.
His voice seemed to hold magic. The moment he finished speaking, the people, who were busy attacking the octopus, instantly scrambled away.
Colonel James was startled to the point of speechlessness. He frowned in disapproval. "You! what are you doing?!"
He thought that this man was overestimating his own ability after he took down one tentacle. But... didn’t he do that with the help of that girl, who was distracting the octopus?
Otherwise, the tentacle might have avoided his lightning strike.
"Everyone, get back in position!" Colonel James commanded angrily.
Others were also confused. Why had they followed that young man’s command? They were about to follow Colonel James’ command again until the sight before them made them stop dead in tracks.
Cassias single-handedly approached the octopus. His size was not worth a mention in front of the giant octopus, but the latter was slowly retreating instead.
It seemed afraid of this small human.
Cassias curled his lips. "Your form is such a contrast to your courage. It’s as small as a grain, just like your brain."
The octopus wasn’t a mutated animal with intelligence, but it vaguely understood that Cassias had just insulted it. It was also bewildered. Why should it be afraid of such a tiny human?
With rage and humiliation, the octopus charged back at him.
At this moment, the people were thankful that they hadn’t joined this battlefield yet. The waves alone could send them back sprawling. Now they understood why Cassias wanted them to stay away from the area.
