Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 103: Cassias vs Octopus Monster
CHAPTER 103: CHAPTER 103: CASSIAS VS OCTOPUS MONSTER
The ability users watched with bated breath as Cassias cut each of the octopus’ tentacles. Almost effortlessly.
Colonel James’ pupils dilated, and he subconsciously took a few steps back in horror. Captain Dalton appeared beside him at some point in time.
"Colonel, that man seems to be Lieutenant General’s relative," he muttered. He hadn’t recognized Cassias directly, but the more he observed, the more he found his face familiar.
The current Admiral, the third son of the Virethorn family’s patriarch, was also from the Virethorn family. However, since the apocalypse started, his whereabouts were unknown. So, the lieutenant general swiftly took control of the capital’s main base for his third uncle.
Colonel James fell silent when he heard Captain Dalton’s words. He had allowed Cassias to join their team because he admitted to having the rare lightning power, and at level four at that.
Even until now, ability users at level four were rare. Mostly were only level two.
He just didn’t expect that the young man was from the Virethorn family.
"If any of you are injured, go get treatment." Colonel James finally sighed before he made an announcement to his subordinates. There were about fifty people this time. A lot were already badly injured.
"For those who are still well and can fight, stay here." He added, just in case Cassias needed any help.
He turned his attention back to the young man. His slender figure unexpectedly hid such explosive power. Cassias’ longsword was cutting the tentacles as if he were cutting cabbage.
Octopuses were relatively silent animals. It seemed like it was in pain, but it couldn’t let out any sounds. The only visible sign of pain was its wriggling body.
The moment Cassias cut its tentacles, which were holding people in them, the octopus retreated slightly.
They wondered whether they had seen wrong. Although Cassias had an expressionless face, they felt like they had detected a hint of anger from him. A silent anger.
"Go save them." Cassias told the nearby people. He quickly faced the octopus again, aiming at the vital parts where it hurt the most.
Captain Dalton was much quicker to react. "Anyone with water power should push the three people to the shore!"
He quickly divided their assignment. While Cassias was dealing with the remaining tentacles, the wind ability users swiftly took the people to a safe place.
Colonel James merely watched with pursed lips. His attention was soon diverted by Cassias’ action again.
Watching this young man fighting against the octopus was really thrilling. It didn’t take long for Cassias to cut the remaining tentacles, but not without some injuries.
After he dealt with its head, stabbing the octopus until it was on death throes, he walked back to the shore with a fatigued look on his face.
"Mr. Virethorn, I will get a doctor to attend to you." Colonel James approached him, saying those words and quickly went to do as he said.
There were red marks on his exposed skin as if someone had just slapped him. He got them from the tentacles he failed to avoid. The force from the tentacles was powerful, but not enough to push him away, yet they still left some marks.
"Take care of those," He said before going to the medical team.
The remaining ability users nodded, staring at the few wriggling tentacles. They still had to cut them into pieces so that they wouldn’t harm people.
This octopus was truly strange. Its tentacles were like a living organism on their own even after they were cut from the main body.
The medical team was quick, applying medicine to Cassias’ skin.
"Mr. Virethorn, how about the girl?" Colonel James asked. He hadn’t seen the girl anywhere yet. The people he sent also didn’t see her in their military vehicle. It was unknown where she had gone.
He was about to get some doctors for her too.
"She is fine. She must have gone to check on the people she saved," Cassias muttered impassively.
He left the medical tent after they were done. He went to ask Captain Dalton where he had put Zerra’s parents.
"Do you see that house with white paint?" Captain Dalton pointed to a two-story house. Then, he changed his mind and quickly offered, "How about I escort you there, Mr. Virethorn?"
Cassias wasn’t surprised they knew about his identity. Upon hearing Captain Dalton’s question, he nodded.
Captain Dalton led him to the house. The owner of the house, a middle-aged man, invited them in upon seeing them.
"The medical team had treated them earlier." The middle-aged man informed them; his face was filled with nervousness.
Cassias checked Zerra’s parents and found that they were alright, merely unconscious with some wounds on them.
Captain Dalton was wearing a camouflage uniform, showing his identity that he was from the military. The middle-aged man instantly approached him after Cassias entered the bedroom. "May I have a moment to speak with you...?"
The middle-aged man’s motive in helping the Zerra’s parents wasn’t completely pure. He wanted to have a chance to talk to them. Captain Dalton didn’t mind, and they soon left Cassias alone in the room with the two unconscious people.
Cassias took the spring water from his space. He first let Zerra out, who was still unconscious, and helped her to drink the spring water to replenish her energy. Then, he helped Alaric and Nerith to drink them.
The spring water would help with their recovery.
He sat down on a chair, a little tired from all the fighting earlier. The snow-white fox was on his lap, on top of a soft pillow. His eyes never left its tiny, furry figure.
Occasionally, he would divert his attention to listen to the conversation between the owner of the house and Captain Dalton. Unexpectedly, the middle-aged man was reporting the case of the people who had taken Zerra’s parents away.
Those people had run away the moment the octopus monster appeared.
Just as he was about to listen more, Cassias sensed movement from the bed. Alaric had woken up.
He was clutching his head with his bandaged hands. After he felt better, his attention shifted to his surroundings. His eyes landed on Cassias.
"Cassias?" He asked hesitantly.
"Mr. Sylvaris, it’s me," Cassias affirmed.
After just a brief exchange, Cassias sensed Zerra’s tiny figure twitching. She had also woken up too, staring in shock at her dad.
Before Cassias could stop her, she had already jumped from his lap and barrelled toward her dad, not realizing she was still in her fox form.
