Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 105: Reunited
CHAPTER 105: CHAPTER 105: REUNITED
Nerith and Alaric exchanged glances.
Nerith’s complexion was still a bit pale, and she seemed to be in pain, making Zerra a little anxious.
Alaric cleared his throat. "I will tell you about it."
"I am Captain Dalton." Captain Dalton introduced himself first. "Please go on, Mr. Sylvaris."
"It started when we found a crying child in the middle of a narrow road. There is no other way to pass this road other than to pick up the child first, so I exited the car, trying to find his parents nearby, but..."
"When I turned around, someone had already entered the car that my wife was in. So, I hurriedly went to confront them. I just didn’t expect that one criminal was an ability user, and he subdued me quickly, shoving me inside the car."
"They tied us with a rope and brought us to this neighbourhood." Alaric’s eyes had flashed with a little recognition upon seeing Mr. Whitmore. He nodded at him. "They imprisoned us."
"Then, this morning, the monster attack happened when they had just brought us out of that house. They shoved us to be shields for themselves."
Captain Dalton nodded upon hearing Alaric’s recounting his experience. He couldn’t help but ask, "Is there a particular motive why they had caught the two of you?"
Alaric’s eyes glinted, and after a brief contemplation, he shook his head. "I can not find a particular motive. I can only guess that they wanted the car."
Captain Dalton nodded. It made sense since people would need a car to move around. He turned to Mr. Whitmore. "The child they used as bait is your son, right?"
Mr. Whitmore’s eyes held a trace of hatred for the criminals who had taken his son. "Yes, please uphold justice for us, Sir."
When his eyes swept over the Sylvaris couple, his face was filled with gratitude. It was them who had helped his son to escape. When they were just rescued from the octopus monster, his son had identified them as his savior.
Thus, Mr. Whitmore decided to take them in while the medical team was still busy building their tent. He also got the chance to attract military personnel to report those criminals then.
"Can you give a detailed description of their appearance?" Captain Dalton took the case seriously, intending to report this to his higher-ups.
Some people had blatantly made trouble near the main base. Alaric and Mr. Whitmore described those people, each adding details to the other.
"One had a scar on his forehead, and dark circles under his eyes. He is really tall. There is also one with wind ability. He is a thin man with sallow cheeks."
Captain Dalton noted the information he had just received, nodding at them.
Mr. Whitmore added the kidnapper’s motive for taking his son with gritted teeth. "They were threatening us to hand over all the supplies we have or they would hurt our son."
Unfortunately, before Mr. Whitmore could exchange for his son; they had brought him away, setting their sights on the Sylvaris couple who possessed a car and were ordinary people.
After they were done, Alaric expressed his intention to go home, so Cassias took one of the military vehicles. Colonel James didn’t mind. He even helped the Sylvaris couple to settle down.
Zerra, who came out of the bathroom, had changed into a human again, thankfully. She instantly clung to her dad while expressing her worry to her mom.
"Mom, Dad..." Her watery eyes stared at them with unspeakable emotions. When she saw them getting caught by the octopus monster, she was terribly scared.
"Your face is pale..." Nerith commented despite herself. "Don’t move too much."
Zerra nodded. She could see the relief in her parents’ eyes after she appeared, like an enormous stone had been lifted from their shoulders. It made her nose feel sore.
There were too many things they wanted to say, but it wasn’t the right time. They had just gone through a rough battle and no longer had any energy left.
A doctor came to examine Nerith, as per Alaric’s request. They decided to have the doctor check on Zerra, even if she refused. Because the doctor was really wicked, giving her an injection with that terrifying needle.
They arrived at home around evening. Laziel was busy looking for them all day. He had just returned with an exhausted face when he spotted the military vehicle at the gate.
He thought that it was Darren, who had come to pick Nyra up, but it wasn’t. Nyra didn’t want to join his search, staying alone in the tent even after he begged her to help.
Facing her stubborn eyes, he could only go out and search for others by himself.
"Dad..." Laziel was startled when he saw his dad’s worn-out appearance. One of his arms was bandaged, but he was still carrying Nerith, who had fallen asleep during the journey.
When Alaric saw his son, he tossed the key to him. "Go open the door."
Laziel swallowed all the questions in his heart and obediently followed his dad’s order. He raced toward the house and hurriedly opened the door wide. He held them open so that his dad could bring Nerith’s entire height inside.
Just as he was about to check on two figures whom he had glimpsed, seemingly to be Cassias and Zerra, he saw Nyra come out of the tent, yawning and stretching.
He pursed his lips.
"How is the search?" Nyra suddenly asked.
Laziel turned to her with slight relief. "I didn’t find them, but they just returned."
She nodded before going back to the tent. Laziel shook his head, staring at Nyra’s disappearing figure in a daze.
Meanwhile, at the military vehicle, Zerra was staring at Cassias indignantly, with the look of someone who had been deceived.
They had spent fifteen minutes flying in the sky just to reach the main base. But... it took only ten minutes with the military vehicle. She had calculated the time based on the two trips; first to the Pure Heart Lake, then to the house.
The male lead’s heart was truly black, taking revenge on her for biting his finger. He definitely knew she didn’t like flying!
"What’s wrong?" Cassias raised his eyebrows.
She snorted and exited the car, followed by him, who easily caught up to her. She rolled her eyes. "It takes only ten minutes from the main base and this place."
He widened his eyes, then put his hand around his mouth and coughed. "I had to search for the correct direction first. It’s hard to see things from up above. When we use the car, we just need to follow the street."
Her eyes were still full of doubt, but no longer tried to find fault with him. She sauntered toward the house, ignoring Cassias, who was trying to help her walk. She could walk by herself.
Alaric had refused Cassias offer to carry Nerith to the house. He was adamant about carrying his wife himself, mentioning it was his responsibility as a husband.
So, they didn’t force him.
The moment Zerra entered the door, her steps faltered. Because... her dad had brought up the topic of Grandma to Laziel.
"Only the three of you came to the Capital?" Alaric momentarily fell silent. He exhaled. "How about your grandma?"
