CHAPTER 109: CHAPTER 109: ZERRA IS A ZOMBIE!

"Z-zombie?" Alaric stuttered in shock. Meanwhile, Nerith nearly stopped breathing. Her Zee had become a zombie?

Zerra subconsciously inched to Cassias, who picked her up from the pillow. He brushed her fur, and it somehow had a calming effect.

A distant memory surfaced in her mind. Before her parents picked her up, she was merely an ordinary fox.

However, she possessed intelligence higher than normal animals, and thus, she knew she was different. After she came into contact with other stronger beings on that mountain, she found enlightenment and also began to cultivate. Otherwise, she couldn’t have lived for so long.

From a cub until she became an adult, she relied on herself, avoiding predators in the mountains.

That was the reason that, even though they were only her mortal parents in this paper world, she still held attachment toward them.

They took care of her ever since she was a child, spoiled her, and fulfilled a lot of her wishes. At some point, she couldn’t even separate the memories of Zerra the spoiled villainess and Zerra the nine-tailed fox from the celestial realm.

She even wondered whether they were the same person...

"What do you mean, zombie, Cassias? Don’t speak carelessly." Nerith’s lips pulled up in an angry scowl. She was almost breathless in disbelief.

Zerra bit her lip. They really wouldn’t accept her...?

Alaric held his wife’s hand. "Let’s listen to the explanation first. Don’t jump to conclusions. Please talk, Cassias."

When he turned to Zerra, he smiled softly. Nerith realized that her reaction might have scared Zerra again. She stiffly turned to her daughter, who was curling up in Cassias’ arms.

"She is only a zombie when she is in her fox form." Cassias began. "When she is in human form, she will be no different from other humans."

"Why?" Alaric pressed in a concerned tone.

"She might have gotten bitten by a zombie before." Cassias could only answer it like this. He actually wasn’t clear about this too, because Zerra hadn’t told him anything.

Now that they had some time to talk about it, this case was also a little bizarre. It was as if Zerra’s fox form had taken the brunt of the entire zombie virus.

Her parents fell silent.

"Zerra, come here." Alaric got up and took Zerra from Cassias’ arms, much to the latter’s dismay.

He flipped her to face him. "It doesn’t matter whether you are a zombie or not, you are still our daughter."

She stared at them, sighing. Why had she become so emotional all of a sudden, anyway? She couldn’t have gotten so homesick, right?

She had to admit that she was greedy. Even with her current parents, she still missed her parents in the celestial realm. Although they only met when she was already an adult, her parents had been looking for her since she was taken away from them.

The time she spent with her parents in the celestial realm was still longer, more than two thousand years.

She spoke through her watery eyes, as if asking her dad: what if I hurt you and Mom?

Alaric was still at an early stage of his earth ability power, and her mom was totally an ordinary human...

"It will be fine." Cassias suddenly spoke. "As long as you don’t bite people randomly."

Zerra’s mouth twitched. What did he mean by biting people randomly? She was a fox, not a dog. Anyway, she only bit him and Laziel! She hadn’t bitten anyone else.

All the sorrow dissipated, replaced by indignation. She glared at Cassias, who was smiling with a smug face.

However, she couldn’t deny that she was filled with joy now. It had finally passed. Her parents still loved her and didn’t mind her identity as a zombie! She puffed out her cheeks with happiness.

Then, her eyes trained on the food on the bedside table. She pointed her paw to the tray of food, telling her parents to eat.

They let out a breath and followed her wishes. Until her face became a little troubled. The food must have gone cold, right?

"It’s fine. We can eat this. The food smells so good." Alaric couldn’t help but poke her cute ears.

The atmosphere became harmonious. Zerra ate her crystal cores to restore her energy while Cassias took the snack she handed over to him.

After they finished their meals, Zerra hid in Cassias’ jacket as he sent her to her room. Before he could go, Zerra didn’t forget to ask him.

She let out soft yips, which translated to: what do you mean earlier when you said that I already paid for the house with supplies?

Even though it was useless, her paw clutched the part of his pants’ lower hem line, not letting him go before he answered. Her eyes were full of seriousness.

"You already put those grains in my space when you got the chance to be inside. Do you think I wouldn’t notice?" He raised his eyebrows.

Zerra hurriedly let go of him, nearly stumbling in the process.

She asked him again in her fox language, "That one doesn’t count... I will pay you with another one."

"Why?" Cassias had a hint of teasing look on his face.

Zerra was having a headache. She insisted, "It doesn’t count. I will pay again. Don’t worry, I am rich."

She wondered whether based on his smart brain, he would find out that she knew the apocalypse would happen beforehand or not. If she answered truthfully, she would need to explain the subsequent matter, and it gave her pain.

Most likely he had, though. He also must have known about Nyra’s experience on the apocalypse based on her behavior too.

"If you don’t answer, I won’t accept it. You know, someone wouldn’t give so many supplies for no reason at all," Cassias declared.

She glared at him. Why was he so stubborn? Should she answer it or not? Oh, fine, she would. Let’s see how he would answer his entanglement with Nyra then.

"When you ordered the grains from the supplier, it wasn’t Nyra, but me. I took the grains, so you should accept it. I want to return the grains to you." She pursed her lips, staring at him with her clear eyes.

"You should give it to Nyra yourself." She added.
