Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 113: The Kidnappers’ Fate
CHAPTER 113: CHAPTER 113: THE KIDNAPPERS’ FATE
Without waiting for Laziel’s further explanation, Zerra rushed out of the car. The closer she got, she noticed that Mr. Whitmore and Captain Dalton were there too.
"Those two had been running rampant around the neighborhood, threatening people for their supplies. Thank you, Miss Nyra and Mr. Valez, for your assistance," Captain Dalton said.
It wasn’t just two and three criminals who were caught. They numbered around eight, and just freshly dragged out of a house. They had just wounded someone near fatal-death in an attempt to seize their house.
This part of the city wasn’t as crowded as the area around the main base, so it was perfect for a crime. The criminals must have received news that the base was hunting for them, so they went to find a place to hide.
"Oh, I am not that helpful," Darren muttered, glancing at Nyra. "It’s my comrade who deserves the credit for tracking them down and making a plan to catch them all in one fell swoop."
"Thank you, Miss Nyra," Captain Dalton repeated.
The moment Zerra appeared, Nyra crossed her arms on her chest and looked away, a little stunned. She acted as if she got caught red-handed doing something she shouldn’t have.
Zerra pursed her lips. She quickly shifted her attention to the bound people on the ground.
"Captain Dalton, let me help you too!" She enthusiastically volunteered herself. Those people had been severely beaten; there were burn marks on their skin.
"Oh, Miss Zerra, you are here." He hesitated for a bit before handing Zerra the rope. She took it, accidentally stepping on one criminal’s feet who had wind ability.
The man groaned in pain, glaring at Zerra murderously. Zerra blinked at him. "Don’t worry, I am a gentle person."
With her senses, she identified the few of them who were involved in her parents’ kidnapping. With her heightened senses as a fox, she spotted them through the smell. Of course, she had to use her spiritual energy and clues like her dad’s favorite jacket.
For a split second, Cassias’ words about her biting people flashed. She had a brief sense of being a dog...
Discarding the thoughts in her mind, she started to tie those people. Then, every time she touched their skin, they would always tense up or flinch, followed by groans of extreme pain.
"Elder brother, come help." When Laziel got closer, she handed over the role to him.
Laziel was stunned. Seeing her encouraging look, he couldn’t bear to refuse. Especially when she already held the criminal’s feet together for him to tie up.
As he circled the rope on his feet, he keenly noticed something coarse on his hands. Like small sands. But it wasn’t. The moment he tied the rope, the person flinched and gasped. If not for the gag in his mouth, he might have been screaming.
The person’s reaction made him realize. He shuddered slightly. Wasn’t his sister too wicked? Look at that soft appearance; it was too deceitful. The white sand-like particles were salt.
She was applying salt to those people’s wounds to take revenge.
"Are you done, elder brother?" She asked, and Laziel flinched slightly.
He looked at the ropes in his hand and the tied-up feet, nodding furiously. "Yes, yes, I am done."
"Captain Dalton, we are done." She immediately reported.
Captain Dalton thanked Zerra and Laziel before ordering the people to bring the people away.
Zerra was more than happy to keep watch over them like others, but when the criminals saw her, they flinched, struggling to get away as if they had just seen a monster.
"Am I that ugly?" She wondered.
Laziel twitched his mouth. His sister was spoiled, but she wasn’t this black-hearted before. Where did she learn all of this from? His eyes inexplicably fell on Cassias, who noticed him staring and raised his eyebrows at him.
"You are not ugly," he quickly answered Zerra’s question.
Laziel snorted at Cassias words. He glanced at Nyra, who was discussing something with Darren, and told them. "Eldest sister volunteered to go when Captain Dalton was forming a team to catch the criminals."
He added, "Sean too."
After he said that, only then that Zerra noticed a few figures coming out of the house. Sean was among them.
The house had a family living in it, but when the criminals broke in, there was an elderly woman who was now sent to receive treatment and two kids. Her son and daughter-in-law, who had just returned from work, had hurried over.
Zerra sighed. Her feelings were a little complicated. It was unknown whether Nyra offered herself to go knowing that they were their parents’ kidnappers or not.
"She and the team had been tracking them since this morning," Laziel narrated. "I happened to hear it and decided to come over when they went to find wood ability users for treatment. Isryn decided to come too."
The elderly had lost too much blood. Blood donors were rare, but the elderly’s son and daughter-in-law were ability users. They had saved up quite a bit of supplies and crystal cores, so they could pay people to donor their blood.
Ordinary people were more desperate and willing to take the offer.
Captain Dalton promised to give decent punishment to the criminals, who were more likely to die soon because of infection if they weren’t treated in time.
When it was nearly dark, they went back. Nyra returned with them. Nerith had already prepared dinner with Alaric.
"I heard you caught the kidnappers?" Alaric asked his elder daughter a little awkwardly, but he tried to make his tone as warm as possible.
Nyra nodded and gave a succinct reply. "Yes."
"Thank you," Alaric said sincerely.
She was silent for a moment before humming in acknowledgement.
The atmosphere eased slightly, and they ate in comfortable silence. This time, there was no Cassias because he had gone back to his family’s house.
For the next week, Zerra focused on her improvement. After seeing Laziel so diligent, it ignited her competitiveness.
She joined the team at the main base for exterminating zombies, collecting the zombies’ and mutated animals’ crystal cores.
Whenever she turned into a fox, her parents would hurriedly hide her if there was any of her siblings home. Otherwise, she could run freely around the house.
Lately, Nyra went out a lot, so she was mostly safe. Darren sent his people back, and he would stay at the Capital for a while. Laziel also often ran to the base to visit Meira.
In order to improve his power, even her dad joined some missions issued by the base. Originally, Nerith was worried, a little traumatized after the last incident.
It took Alaric some time before she finally agreed to let him go. Of course, she previously also reacted the same with Zerra, but she cleverly pulled Cassias’s name as the bargaining card. Only then did her mom reluctantly agree.
Zerra sometimes went to Isryn’s place too. She had been bringing the siblings some supplies and made sure that they wouldn’t lack anything.
"Eh, where is Sister Isryn?" Zerra asked Eryx, who was training his power with Laziel.
Eryx turned to Zerra before answering in a hesitant voice, "The Research Institute invited my sister."
