CHAPTER 125: CHAPTER 125: SUITABLE LAND FOR FARMING

Lieutenant General Byron was handling another base in the Capital, and now he had returned.

The main base wouldn’t be peaceful for the days to come for sure. At least until Lieutenant General Byron returned to the base that he managed, Zerra thought.

"Is what they are saying true?" Lieutenant General Byron narrowed his eyes at Laziel and Meira. Nyra, who stood beside them, got under his radar too.

"Of course not! It was them who were harassing my girlfriend!" Laziel stood in front of Meira with a determined gaze, unfaltering.

Meira grabbed his hand, shaking her head as if afraid he would get into trouble. Laziel felt even more guilty. She was willing to suffer silently...

Zerra watched the ongoing drama with a sigh. Laziel doing all the sacrifices only for him to get betrayed by his girlfriend, whose heart wasn’t on him.

If it were before, she would have taken her popcorn like last time. But the more she got along with this annoying brother of hers, the more she found he wasn’t so bad.

She suddenly wanted to interfere.

The wheels in her head turned, and she glanced at Cassias, tilting her head. He shifted his gaze toward her too, raising his eyebrows. She blinked at him.

Without saying another word, she walked toward Laziel and stood beside him.

Cassias followed.

The arguments stopped all of a sudden. Lieutenant General Byron’s hand gesture made everyone around them turn quiet.

"Cassias Virethorn?" He raised his eyebrows. "Are you going to interfere?"

The discussion in whispered tones exploded around them. They glanced at Cassias, wondering about his relationship with Lieutenant General Virethorn.

"How about you?" He threw the question back to Byron.

Byron shrugged. "I just came here and have no idea what’s happening." He paused. "Is your cousin in his office?"

"Maybe."

"Let the discipline committee handle it." He cleared his throat. "I still have something important to discuss with Lieutenant General Virethorn."

He commanded his subordinates, who had followed him when he entered the scene earlier, to notify the discipline committee. With that, he turned away toward Evan’s office.

As the main characters of the drama were called over to the discipline committee building, the crowd dispersed. However, some of them were still summoned to be witnesses.

Unexpectedly, it was Colonel James who would handle their case.

Under the confession of many witnesses, Laziel couldn’t escape his responsibility for starting a fight. He was banned from coming to the main base for two weeks.

Meanwhile, the men got confinement punishment, where their movement was restricted to certain areas. It was the same for Meira, but hers was very short. Only a day.

As they headed out of the room, Laziel walked away wearing a grim look on his face.

Zerra pursed her lips, sighing. She still racked her brains on how to tell Laziel about Meira’s true nature.

Some people might guess that the girl was actually scheming against him just now, using his affection for her to provoke his rage.

In every word she said, she acted very pitiful, but it was actually to trigger his anger more. His pity for her would increase, and at the same time, his fury too.

"I am going to Evan’s office," Zerra muttered, watching Laziel’s back getting smaller in the distance.

She would think about it later. It was better to give a rock some advice than someone who was in love. The latter could be so scarily blind. The rock wouldn’t be angry at her.

Shaking her head, she thought about Evan. She was going to give him the fruit she had picked. In a brief span of time, they had gotten familiar with each other.

Cassias was openly revealing his abilities in front of him. Evan also already knew she had the wood ability. So far, everything was safe. Evan was trustworthy; it was inexplicable how she subconsciously trusted him.

"We can arrange for that later." They heard Evan’s voice as soon as they got closer to his office.

There was Byron sitting on a sofa. A frown marred his forehead. He insisted, "Then, let’s discuss the arrangement."

"I have some guests now," Evan nonchalantly said. His voice was a little strict, devoid of his usual playfulness when he was in front of Zerra and Cassias.

"Them?" Byron gestured to the two people who had just opened the door. "You are kicking me out because of them?"

"What kind of things are more important than the problem at the base in the North?" He grumbled, yet he still got up from his chair.

He was worried that if he didn’t leave, Evan wouldn’t bother to help him. It was annoying, but he had no choice. He was well aware that it wasn’t the time to be stubborn.

Even if he had to lower his head a little in front of his rival, it didn’t matter. Once the deal was done, they could go back to competing again. As long as the main base could deliver some supplies to the branch human base and people wouldn’t starve.

On the way out, Byron passed by Zerra and Cassias. His footsteps slowed down for a moment before he snorted and walked away.

Zerra closed the door, feeling a little inexplicable.

"Zee, I have found a decent land for you." Evan smiled at her. His posture became relaxed.

"Really?" She was a little excited. Most land basically became ownerless during the apocalypse. However, in order to avoid trouble, they needed to find suitable land, like an area without mutated animals.

They planned to build some kind of wall around it to avoid prying eyes. Zerra loved growing plants, and the base needed them to fill people’s stomachs.

It was a win-win deal. She didn’t need to dirty her house anymore. Besides, she would also receive crystal cores as payment.

The latest project of farmland at the base was the perfect cover for her ability. They could just say that the fruits were from the base’s farmland.

Evan rolled his eyes when he saw Cassias contented expression. That lazy man had handed him a list of lands from the Virethorn family’s properties.

He knew Evan needed Zerra’s power, so he made use of Evan’s subordinates to investigate the most suitable land for farming.

"Evan, you will not sell me out, will you?" Zerra suddenly asked with a serious face.
