Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 134: Surrounded by Zombies
CHAPTER 134: CHAPTER 134: SURROUNDED BY ZOMBIES
Meira was a little panicked in her heart, and she began to regret it a little. She turned in Zerra’s direction, but the girl was already nowhere to be seen.
Nyra didn’t like Meira, and that was an obvious fact.
Since Meira herself insisted on staying with Nyra, Zerra wouldn’t waste her energy persuading her. Judging from the way Nyra usually did things, she might suffer a little for it.
"Miss Zerra, this house seems to be locked. Do you want to smash it open like the other previous houses?" One man asked, his face a little serious, as if he had encountered a massive problem.
Zerra’s eyes twitched. "Call them first if there’s anyone inside?"
He slapped his forehead. "Oh, that’s right. Silly me!"
His friend patted his shoulder. They began yelling at the people inside. "Anyone here? We are from the Capital base."
"If anyone is inside, open the door!"
They exchanged looks and nodded at each other, already determining they were going to smash the door open.
Until beast-like growls and snarls resonate from inside. Zerra motioned for them to stop with her hand. "Wait!"
The men stopped. They heard the sound of the zombies too. It didn’t seem to be just one or two zombies too. This house was quite big.
She used her senses to take a look at the scene inside and instantly was a little stunned. There were at least dozens of zombies in the house.
Luckily, she stopped them in time. Otherwise, if the men charged ahead directly, they might get surrounded and bitten.
"Miss Zerra, shouldn’t we open the door?" They frowned, a little dissatisfied.
Zerra thought about it and took out her pitchfork. "Open the door... but get ready to face the zombies inside. Prepare your weapons first."
Even with Zerra’s warning, they didn’t seem to take it seriously. This girl was Laziel’s sister, and they didn’t have a good impression of anyone with blood relationship with him. They regarded him as a love-brained fool after seeing how much he took care of his girlfriend.
"It should be okay. We have our power ready." The man ignored Zerra’s words and used his wind ability to cut through the door, exercising his wind blades.
Zerra clicked her tongue, not stopping him. She watched as the door crumbled, and even the window. The other man was breaking the window.
Immediately, a group of zombies charged out of the door. The men looked a bit stunned at the staggering number. They used their powers, trying to inflict damage on the zombies.
Wind blades fell, and ice as thin as needles penetrated the zombies’ hearts and brains. Still, they were overwhelmed.
"Miss Zerra!" They shouted in disapproval when they saw her merely standing there.
She raised her eyebrows and slowly moved to stab the zombies coming toward her. Zerra didn’t like the men’s disregard of her earlier, so she acted pettily, only dealing with the zombies coming for her.
Since she could control the zombies, she also released a hint of suppression from a higher level of zombies to lower ones, allowing a few to come for her.
This small level of battlefield was still within her range of influence. Plus, she only needed to release her power once a while.
"Why are there so many of them?!" One man yelled in frustration. "Damn, I nearly got bitten."
"Take out your weapon!" The other yelled back after he saw Zerra killing the zombies using her pitchfork.
It was a strange sight, but the man didn’t have the leisure to ponder it too much. He slashed the zombie arm coming for him, retreated a few steps to his right only to meet another zombie charging toward him.
"It’s our bad luck!" They grumbled. "Were those people at a meeting or something that there were so many of them?!"
"We need to ask for help from Mr. Valez." They finally decided, nodding at each other amidst their actions of stabbing the zombies with their weapons.
"Miss Zerra, run away! Run!" They warned Zerra, who was pulling her pitchfork out of a zombie’s head with disgust.
Without waiting for Zerra’s response, they had already raced toward the house Darren was in, leaving Zerra speechless.
She wiped her sweat, took a deep breath and rolled her eyes at the sight of their backs slowly getting smaller. Taking one last look toward the zombies, she also pretended to run.
"Mr. Valez, those people must have gathered at that house before they turned into zombies, maybe having some sort of meal together."
"We almost became their next meal!" The other added in fear.
At this time, Mr. Wells’ countenance had turned numb from the previous grief. However, he still held some hope that some people were still alive.
"Let’s go get those zombies." Darren frowned. He called the other nearby ability users, and they quickly dealt with zombies, which were spreading around everywhere now.
After there were only a few zombies remaining, the men approached Zerra. They cleared their throats, nudging each other.
Zerra blinked, and then raised her eyebrows, waiting for them to speak.
"W-we are sorry for not listening to your warning, Miss Zerra." They begin. "We were too complacent, and it put us at a great disadvantage."
"S-sorry for leaving you like that too, we were too panicked, but we realized it was also too ungentlemanly of us." They took a deep breath. "We won’t do it again."
Zerra pursed her lips. Despite the arrogance that they sometimes show and their fierce appearance, the men weren’t bad people. They also saw she was in an opening before they ran.
She could easily run away without having the zombies besieging her.
Originally, she didn’t care about Meira’s drama. Now, after those people openly admitted their mistakes, which not many people could do, she wondered if the truth was like they had said.
Meira was slandering them.
One thing for sure was that she was using Laziel to get rid of those people because of her fear, but now..
The one she wanted to get rid of... maybe was Laziel?
She wanted to break up with him? If Laziel killed people in the base, they might ban him from entering for the rest of his life. Worse, he might get exiled from the Capital.
However, there was also one thing she couldn’t fathom. If Laziel were to be banned from the base or exiled, wouldn’t she lose the privilege of his room?
A ridiculous thought surfaced in her mind. It couldn’t be that Meira wanted to stay with Darren, would it?
"Where are Nyra and Meira?" Darren’s voice snapped her out of her thoughts. "Has anyone seen them?"
Everyone exchanged glances before shaking their heads, a little confused. There were others who were not present here because they were busy dealing with zombies in other houses.
Why did Mr. Valez only looking for the two girls?
"Zerra, have you seen your eldest sister?"
She shot him a bewildered glance. Pointing to a house, she muttered, "They should be there."
As soon as she pointed her finger at a certain house, someone emerged, running toward them. It was Meira, and she had a panicked look on her face.
"Mr. Valez, N-nyra hasn’t exited the house for a while! T-there are a lot of zombie noises in that house," she explained, panting heavily.
