CHAPTER 209: CHAPTER 209: HENRY’S REACTION AND PLAN

Zerra, who had just emerged from the kitchen after stealing snacks made by her mom, heard Henry’s words and couldn’t help but find it funny.

The first thing that man did upon calming down and regaining a little of his rationality must have been checking the crystal cores inside his subordinates’ brains.

When he saw they were missing, he thought of the worst–the Valez family, whom he treated like a toy, was going to surpass him by using his subordinates’ crystal cores.

"Come out and face me if you dare, Darren Valez!" Henry roared, his eyes bloodshot red, as if he was on the verge of losing control at any moment.

Now that Zerra thought about it, the whole thing was strange. Henry looked so paranoid, hurrying over to the Valez family’s place as soon as he spotted his dead subordinates.

Instead of being concerned about their deaths, the first thing he talked about was the crystal cores. He was afraid the Valez family was going to use the crystal cores to improve their power.

If he was so worried, why had he let his subordinates know the advantage of using human crystal cores? He didn’t seem to be worried too much about the Valez family because of their stubbornness, but now...

At the prospect of the Valez family changing their minds, he panicked.

Was there something wrong with his subordinates’ state? It might have been different compared with his power. Some slaving techniques from the celestial realm flashed in her mind. Could it be...?

Darren has gotten his arm bandaged. He trudged from his room the moment he heard Henry’s words, standing tall and taking the role of a leader.

"Henry?" He lifted his brows. He mocked, "What brings Your Highness to come to our shabby place?"

Henry’s nose flared at Darren’s mockery, but when he saw Darren’s injured state, his feelings eased a little. He sneered back, "You are just a hypocrite acting all high and mighty."

When Henry thought about how the Valez family had taken out his men’s crystal cores and killed them all when he wasn’t at the base, it filled him with infinite rage. Even more so when he heard about his brother’s death.

His brother was his best aide, the person he could trust the most despite his trust issues. He was his right-hand man, the one who would calm him down and give rational advice.

Now, such a man was gone. There was no one who would tell him to calm down and think about things thoroughly anymore.

Zerra analyzed Henry’s expression. Despite his somewhat reckless action of charging to the enemy’s base like that, she found his actions nothing but simple.

The people he brought were dozens of his strongest men, and there were also the ones who had just returned after their group razed the assembly room last night.

"Acting all high and mighty, we definitely don’t need to act," Nyra retorted sarcastically. She was standing beside Darren, acting as a support.

"Why are you still pretending?" Henry narrowed his eyes. His gaze swept after all the Valez family’s people who had come out of their rooms.

"Just look at your beloved leader," he sneered. "He is pretending to be a good person, but don’t you know what he has done behind all of your backs?"

Zerra frowned, wondering what Henry was up to. She sat on a chair, watching the drama in front of her with a face full of curiosity.

In her hand, there were muffins she had taken from the kitchen. Laziel sat beside her, joining in her feast. He looked at his younger sister with approval. She could find such a suitable spot for watching this drama and even prepared a snack.

"All of you are still living now, but don’t you notice our people occasionally go missing?" Henry gave a crooked smile. "Have you wondered why?"

"Lately, after you, Darren Valez," he pointed at his finger Darren and swept his gaze over to Cassias, Sean, and all the teammates from Capital. " After you received help from the Capital, you can’t even hide your ambition anymore."

Henry seethed. "You murdered all of my people. Don’t you realize they are your fellow humans too? The protector of the base?!"

Zerra had learned from Darren how the Valez family was driven out of the military dorm and had to live in shacks at the hospital.

The Brown family’s side had plotted against their powerful ability users, making a lot of them injured. So, most of them had to stay at the hospital.

While the Valez family ability users were recovering, the Brown family took this chance to snatch these ability users’ rooms and gave them to their own people. The Valez family had no power to resist, considering most of their forces were gone.

More and more people gathered. Zerra frowned, noticing them to be low-level ability users who usually stayed neutral and weren’t involved in the base’s politics much.

"Miss Zerra," Jake suddenly came over to her.

Laziel offered him a muffin, which he declined. His face was filled with seriousness and gravity.

"Do you have something on your mind?" Zerra stopped eating and looked at him.

"Mr. Brown’s power is actually much greater than he shows." He hesitated. "He must have hidden trump cards, especially when he came to us head-on like this."

She straightened her sitting posture, gesturing to him to continue. Laziel also stopped eating.

"When Daisy was trying to get me to be on their side, she told me that the scientist gave him some means of protection." Jake exhaled. His expression was still complex whenever he mentioned Daisy. "She just never mentioned what his trump cards are."

Zerra nodded. She turned to look at Henry with a strange gaze. He was currently swaying the public opinion about how the Valez family had been committing inhuman deeds, like a pot calling the kettle black.

He was probably unleashing his trump card now.

"We should always uphold justice and humanity in our base!" Henry yelled, followed by his people.

Her pupils constricted when she heard the yellings among the crowd of low-level ability users too. There were even some ordinary people mixing among them.

If it were just Henry’s men, they had no qualms about hurting or killing them since they had human blood on their hands too. But if the low-level ability users and even the thin, malnourished ordinary people joined in...

"What are you all waiting for? Let’s punish the evildoer and purge them from our base!" Henry yelled again. His voice reverberated, amplified by all the wind ability users on his side.

His voice transmitted to all the people present.

At his cue, all the low-level ability users and ordinary people charged toward the hospital buildings.
