CHAPTER 210: CHAPTER 210: HENRY’S SURPRISING POWER

Zerra abruptly stood up, sucking in a deep breath. She shoved the plate to Laziel, who received it dazedly as he stared at the low-level ability users and ordinary people with disbelief.

Earlier, when Henry was busy speaking, not all of his high-level ability users were with him. He was quite busy distracting the Valez family’s men from noticing all the moves from his side.

It looked like he was trying to sway public opinion. Even with some loopholes in his words, like how could the Valez family, with fewer members, murder their own?

"The air..." Jake scrunched his face and coughed. An uncomfortable expression painted his face.

Zerra sniffed. If only she were in her fox form, she could have done better with her senses. Alas, she had to use her current form.

Jake was still coughing with a red face. Whatever it was, he was feeling unwell by the smell.

"Jake, what is it?" She asked, her voice urgent. "Do you recognize it?"

"It’s similar to the mushroom I sometimes smell at Scott’s place... but also different." He took a deep breath, shaking his head. "More potent."

She was a little stunned. Mutated mushroom powder? It was the first thing that crossed her mind. All the words Henry had uttered until now flashed in her brain, and everything seemed to make sense a little.

He wasn’t just trying to provoke Darren pointlessly, but trying to incite reactions from the crowd, influencing them.

Currently, the ability users from the Valez family were fighting against these low-level ability users and ordinary people. They were well aware they couldn’t kill them, so the only choice was to knock them unconscious.

Still, they were worried that the unconscious people might get trampled on by the crowd, who looked like they had gone crazy.

"Elder brother, take care. Don’t get injured," she yelled before she jumped into the crowd.

Every time people unleashed their ability on her, she would try to evade or knock them unconscious. She needed to figure out how to make them break out of Henry’s control.

Unfortunately, the number of people was too overwhelming.

She could only try to influence the people nearest to her, experimenting on how much effect she could have on them if she used her fox ability—hypnotizing.

"What Henry said isn’t true." She exhaled, concentrating with her spiritual power. "He is the real culprit who has been killing the ability users of the Valez family!"

Some people stopped mid-attack, falling into a daze. A moment later, a confused look appeared on their faces, as if they had been awakened from a long dream.

Zerra dealt with the attacks they had launched, observing their reactions. Their gazes were no longer a little empty like before. Instead, an ever-changing expression took over their face.

From being dazed, then full of confusion, and lastly, shock. They were a bit flustered when they realized they were in the middle of a fight. As memories rushed back into their minds, they were a little horrified.

"Go back." Zerra quickly said. She didn’t forget to ask an important question. "Do you remember things falsely, or are you aware of what is currently happening in front of you but you can’t control your body?"

"It’s the former..." The person told her. "But the memories are a little fragmented and..."

The person explained everything she saw, how they suddenly witnessed the people from the Valez family committing atrocities on their beloved family members.

So, whenever they landed their eyes on the Valez family’s men, they were suddenly overflowing with hatred and attacked them.

Zerra understood and dismissed them, telling them to get out of the place as soon as possible. She didn’t want them to be affected by the powder a second time and wasted her effort.

The people realized the gravity of the situation. Their feelings regarding Henry became even more complex. They hadn’t expected he would commit such a thing.

Zerra’s eyes searched for a certain figure. She found Cassias was busy protecting her parents, occasionally knocking people unconscious and using his mental power to shake them awake.

However, she wasn’t looking for him. With Cassias around, she believed her parents would be safe.

"Jake!" She yelled when she saw Jake forming dull wind sticks with his power, aiming for the particular area on people’s necks. His method was surprisingly very efficient.

Zerra sent another group of people out of the battlefield. Still, the number was too small compared to the total number of people in that place. It couldn’t go on like this.

They had to find a method to help the people break out of Henry’s influence soon.

"Miss Zerra!" Jake seemed to be taken aback. "Was it you who were shouting my name?"

She remembered Henry’s previous method. He had used the wind ability users around him to transmit his voice to most people present. With a solemn face, she told Jake, "I need your help."

After she explained her intention, Jake widened his eyes. He immediately agreed. "If you have such power, it might be feasible."

"Let’s try it first." She clenched her fists.

With Jake’s help, the area where he could transmit her voice wasn’t as wide compared to Henry’s, but surprisingly it was quite effective. She repeated the words she had said to the people earlier, condemning the Brown family.

Some people instantly woke up, while others took longer.

Their presence helped to alleviate the burden on the Valez family’s men. Whenever they passed, people would wake up and no longer attack them.

The low-level ability users and the ordinary people’s complexions became incredibly pale when they realized what had happened. As per Zerra’s request, they instantly left the area, thankful that they didn’t die.

Soon, Henry noticed what Zerra was doing.

He gestured to his subordinates possessing wind ability. In a ruthless tone, he thundered, "Attack the girl wearing a dark blue T-shirt. She is the enemy who has caused you all to lose your friends and family!"

In an instant, the low-level ability users and ordinary people abandoned their current fight. They rushed toward her like crazy.

Others who saw this felt as if their hearts lurched as the crowd bombarded Zerra with their abilities. Even if she was a powerful ability user, after all, she was only one person.
