CHAPTER 211: CHAPTER 211: REVEALING HIS ABILITY

"Zee!" Others yelled worriedly as they tried to part through the crowd. However, there were too many people, and it would be hard to arrive on her side in time.

These people were like a thick wall, separating her from them.

The moment the low-level ability users and ordinary people rushed toward her, Zerra had already shoved Jake away. So, she was the only one who took the brunt of the attacks. Various ability users bombarded her with their powers.

She hurriedly yelled at the people nearest her. Some snapped to their senses, but the rest needed a while to recover.

It stopped some attacks. Still, the method wasn’t effective because of the overwhelming number of people coming toward her.

From the distance, she saw Cassias. Her pupils constricted, realizing what he was about to do. He was the only one here capable of reaching her...

"Don’t!" She yelled at him, hoping the voice could reach him amidst the commotion.

He glanced at her. However, he merely pursed his lips. In the next moment, a shocking sight unfolded.

"What the hell is that?" People from the Brown family side stared at the sight in the sky with wide eyes.

They swallowed. "Is that some kind of monster? Is the noise here too loud, which attracted monsters?"

They exchanged looks. The figure in the sky was quick. Like an eagle spotting its prey, Cassias surveyed Zerra’s position before swooping down toward her.

Zerra could only watch helplessly as Cassias revealed his abilities in front of everyone. Her heart thumped furiously.

She really wanted to ask him. Why? Was it worth it to sacrifice so much for her? Once the lunatics at the Research Institute found out about his strange wings, they would go after him just like they did to Daniel.

"That’s a person! Don’t you think the figure resembles a human?"

"A human with wings?"

People from the Valez family were also surprised. Nyra had an odd look on her face, but soon she no longer paid attention to Cassias’ strange transformation, as if it wasn’t an important matter.

Even if Laziel, Sean and others were surprised by Cassias’ wings, it only lasted for a moment. They knew they had more important matters to deal with.

Everyone watched as Cassias arrived on Zerra’s side, alleviating her burden instantly. Her voice had become hoarse from the constant shouting; her figure trembled slightly in exhaustion from her attempt to evade people’s craziness.

Henry stared at Cassias’ figure. His eyes glinted as he thought of something. He rubbed his hands together, and his mind churned with calculation.

"Boss, what should we do?" They stared at the mass of people who now had their full attention on one person. While it had taken a toll on Zerra’s power, the ability users from the Valez family were also freed from the siege.

They didn’t miss the rage in some people’s eyes. Darren ordered his men to continue dealing with the mass of people. Meanwhile, after seeing Cassias taking care of Zerra, Nyra shifted her focus.

She went after Henry and his men. Each of her attacks was ruthless, targeting their vital parts.

As Nyra, Sean and others took care of Henry’s men, Laziel was busy trying to reach Zerra. He was full of worry and in a hurry, so he used harsher means to take care of the people standing in his way.

He kicked them and then used his water power to find a particular area on their necks and knocked them unconscious.

"Do you know what you have done?!" Zerra couldn’t help but scold him a little, her nose soured as myriad emotions rushed to her heart.

At this time, Cassias had created a barrier using his mental ability, alleviating the burden and giving her some time to catch a break.

"I know." His hand reached for her hair, messing it up further. He pulled a bottle of spring water and handed it to her. "Drink."

Despite their interaction, Cassias wasn’t idle. He used his mental powers to snap some people back to their senses.

His other hand circled around Zerra’s waist as he guided her out of the crowd. Because of his mental barrier, the people seemed to have lost their targets, wandering a little aimlessly.

They had lost their target. Hence, they no longer had any goal. Somehow, it was also effective in helping them break out of Henry’s influence.

"Where am I?" They muttered to themselves.

After they examined their surroundings and the wounds that looked as if they had appeared out of nowhere, they were horrified. Memories of what had happened flashed in their minds.

Some people managed to piece the memory fragments quickly, while others needed a while to process them.

Henry wanted to use his ability to influence them again, but he was held back by Nyra’s relentless attacks. She had specifically targeted his wind ability users, killing most of them.

If he hadn’t been forced to take such a drastic measure, Henry wouldn’t have done it. After all, his prestige at the base was decent. After today’s episode, people most likely would regard him with hostility for treating them like cannon fodder. Some might even leave.

But... he had no choice. He hadn’t expected Zerra’s group to be such a huge variable in his plan, which previously was proceeding smoothly. Thus, they had forced his hand.

He had to use the powder from the mutated mushrooms he had grown so carefully using his own blood.

As he witnessed the tides of the battle turning unfavorable for him again, he gritted his teeth. He jumped away from his fight against Nyra and cursed, "Crazy bitch!"

"Take her down!" He ordered. His remaining men instantly went after Nyra.

Henry wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. An idea formed in his mind. His eyes searched the crowd.

As his eyes locked onto two particular figures; one was dealing with the thin, malnourished ordinary people while the other took care of the low-level ability users.

A crooked smile painted his lips. He sneered at the couple in the distance who had made the sea of people part to make a path for them. They were making their way to a safer place.

Henry jumped away, heading toward Zerra’s parents, the important but easy hostages to handle.

As he arrived near them like lightning, he took hold of Nerith in one swift motion. A knife was placed against her neck.

"If you all don’t stop, I won’t be able to guarantee her safety!" Henry’s voice was full of sneer as he announced. The moment he swept his eyes across their twisted expressions, a sense of satisfaction filled his heart.
