CHAPTER 213: CHAPTER 213: SOMETHING WAS WRONG

Zerra was really helpless. Negative thoughts kept invading her mind. Even until now, she still had wariness in her, worrying that the plot would go haywire and end up screwing her again.

Was her mom’s fate really impossible to change?

No, she refused to believe it!

The moment Henry uttered these words, she instantly shot out of Cassias’s grasp and ran toward them like her life depended on it.

The wind stung her eyes, making them feel sore. Each second felt like an eternity as she ran as if she were flying. Her sole attention was on her mom, and she didn’t know what kind of choice her elder siblings would make.

Nerith was her biological mother, so it was natural for her to go save her. The responsibility should fall on her and not them...

Henry had his lips curled up at the spectacle. "You know what, I was just joking about the last rule."

Zerra’s face paled. She had been using her teleportation skills, but each jump was limited in distance.

"Since I lost my brother, I will also let you feel the taste of losing someone dear to you." With a deranged smile, Henry continued. "I have lost everything, anyway."

He shifted his attention to Nerith, who was struggling in his grasp. However, her struggle didn’t last long as she thought better of it. If she were gone, Henry wouldn’t need to use her to threaten her family again...

"Yo, farewell, Auntie." He smirked.

The blade on her neck sank deeper, but...

Soon, Henry’s smile was wiped off his face. He could feel he had lost his footing on the ground.

It was because he was flying. As such, his knife fell, and his grasp on Nerith loosened until he lost his hold on her. And the culprits were...

A loud roar of a tiger reverberated. It had bitten Henry’s waist and thrown him away. However, it wasn’t the tiger’s force alone. Alaric was using his earth power to smash him away.

The moment that knife sank slightly into his wife’s neck, all his rationality snapped. His power burst out, as if it understood his desperation, and the earth beneath Henry’s feet formed a small hill that only affected him alone.

Zerra’s heart lurched, and she hurriedly went to her mom, who was coughing and had collapsed to the ground.

However, someone else was faster–Nyra. Out of the three of them, she was the nearest, so her reaction was also quick. The moment Nerith’s body also lifted from the ground, she threw a cushion below her, thus lessening her injury.

With their teamwork, they finally saved Nerith.

"Mom!" Zerra hugged her mom and sobbed. Since Nyra was also checking Nerith injuries, she awkwardly also got pulled into the hug. Each of Zerra’s hands circled around them.

Meanwhile, the tiger had chased after Henry, who had fallen a hundred meters away. The surrounding ground formed a small crater.

Alaric also went after Henry, using his earth ability to envelop him. Henry cursed as he struggled to breathe. The moment he was pulled out of the ground by the tiger and slammed down again, he forced himself to get up.

The tiger still didn’t let him go, toying with him. It slammed him against the ground, the trees, and the walls repeatedly. His bones were breaking.

As he struggled to sit up tremblingly, something strange suddenly happened. A space tear opened right beside him, a mass blackness wide enough to swallow a person.

Once they blinked, he was gone. The tendril that Cassias and others were so familiar with had appeared again. It grabbed Henry and brought him toward the sinkhole.

Everyone who happened to witness it fell silent. However, it happened so fast that only a few high-level ability users managed to catch what had happened.

On Zerra’s side, Laziel had crouched down, staring at Nerith with a face full of emotions. Zerra still hadn’t stopped sobbing like a kid.

"I am fine, I am fine..." Nerith rubbed Zerra’s hair to console her. Zerra had been using her power repeatedly to heal the minor wound on her neck. It was a shallow cut, and the first time she channelled her power, it had been healed instantly.

"Zee, Mom is already fine." Nyra pursed her lips. Thankfully, because of Zerra’s little crazed action, her embarrassment wasn’t that noticeable.

She couldn’t even understand her own actions. Her body had moved on its own before her brain could register what was happening.

All three siblings had run in the same direction.

"Zee, stop it." Laziel grabbed Zerra’s hand, who was about to use her power again for the umpteenth time. He gestured to his eldest sister to help Nerith up while he consoled Zerra.

He frowned, not expecting her reaction to be this big, even after Nerith was saved. "There, there, it’s alright. Mom is okay now. You healed her wounds."

Nyra carried Nerith toward the hospital room. In just a few meters, Alaric arrived and took his wife from his daughter’s arm.

He didn’t understand why he suddenly had another sudden burst of power, but figuring it out wasn’t the priority now. He could feel Nerith’s small frame shaking.

The incident this time was bound to leave a scar on them.

Laziel patted Zerra’s shoulder. She was still crying with her puffy eyes terrifyingly red. As he was about to hug her to offer her comfort, someone else beat it to him first.

Cassias had taken Zerra into his embrace, much to Laziel’s dismay.

While the Sylvaris family took care of each other, Darren assigned his subordinates to take care of the aftermath. He also dismissed the people crowding around their place.

With Henry gone... there was only the Valez family as the sole power at the base right now.

"You should go get the doctor." Cassias told Laziel. The latter had no choice but to agree.

Cassias took Zerra to the tent. After they were inside, he looked at the girl worriedly.

She had turned into a fox again, and... her eyes were different. As if sensing Cassias’ aura, she tried to reach for him.

Cassias held her paw, and after he examined her condition, his heart sank. Zerra let out a whimper, and a small bark that expressed her confusion. "Cassias, I can’t see. Everything is blurry."
