CHAPTER 219: CHAPTEE 219: REMAINING DANGER IN THE SEA
"No, they are not my friends!" Zerra gritted her teeth, but it was too late. They already went in their direction. Most likely because they had spotted Cassias.
After a few days, they should have died by the sea creatures even if their bodies weren’t shredded into pieces in the sinkhole. However, the surviving ability users had water abilities, so their survival chances were greater compared to others.
Zerra thought that with the sinkhole’s space tears, most of them would have died because they didn’t have the protection she and Cassias possessed. Unexpectedly, a few of them still lived.
Even so, the probability of getting out alive must have been small.
There were only three water ability users on their side who survived. Still, Zerra and Cassias were no match for them in their current condition. One unconscious and the other a weak chicken.
"That’s Darren’s person!"
"Kill him!"
They all shouted with anger in their voices, climbing on top of the whale’s body.
"They are not your friends." The whale sounded taken aback. Soon, it sensed what was happening above its body.
Zerra could only helplessly bite the ability user’s feet as he examined Cassias. Water blades formed around Cassias, ready to puncture his body at any moment.
"I will search for any usable items." They split their assignment. One responsible for killing, looting, and digging his crystal core.
Zerra barked angrily, letting out high-pitched sounds.
"Hiss, what is this creature? A fox? Must have been his pet."
As the man tried to snatch her, she quickly evaded him. Running all over his body, biting here and there, making him lose focus and the water blades dissipate.
"Let’s skin this damn fox. The fur must be comfy!" The man snarled angrily.
"Whale! Can’t you help us?" Zerra could only ask for its help as a last resort. She was utterly helpless right now.
"My body is too massive, so I refrain from moving too much and putting the top part of it on the surface for the two of you, but I will move now," the whale told her.
She was at a loss. Even if the whale moved underwater, it was useless. These people had water ability; submerging underwater was nothing for them.
"Can you put them in your mouth?" She hesitated a bit before asking.
"Oh? I don’t eat humans, but I will try." The whale hummed in agreement.
As the man who received the task of killing Cassias struggled to catch her, the other two became impatient.
"You can’t even take care of a damn fox?! Just let me do it then!" The one responsible for digging Cassias’ crystal core snorted.
Once again, water blades formed in the air. Zerra’s heart sank. She didn’t hesitate to jump onto the other man, biting his neck. The man’s focus disappeared along with his water blades.
He cursed Zerra. The other man sent him a smug smile. Now, he felt how hard it was to catch a slippery fox.
"The damn fox might jump on me if I create water blades again. Let’s just attack at the same time."
When Zerra heard that, her heart palpitated. She sucked in a deep breath, not knowing what to do besides urging the whale to act quickly.
The time slowed down, and she watched it with bated breath as the two water ability users conjured water blades at the same time, aiming for Cassias.
Just in time for the whale to pull its massive body underwater.
The men were so nonchalant around the whale, so they must have been confident they could escape. As water slowly rose, Zerra’s heart slowly sank further.
She changed her target, dashing toward Cassias and pulling his collar. At the same time, the water blades reached both of them.
They all were completely submerged underwater.
"What...?"
All the water ability users’ shock was palpable, although she did not put too much attention on them. Her sole focus was Cassias, who had now magically awakened!
As the whale made a sucking action toward the surrounding water, Cassias opened his eyes. Slightly bloodshot red and extremely tired.
"Zizi," he mumbled softly and took Zerra into his arms.
"Cassias!" She was really excited. Cassias had woken up. However, a moment later her excitement dimmed, turning into horror. "You..."
He had flipped his body around, shielding her from the incoming water blades. Even after the men were sucked into the whale’s mouth, the water blades were still marching toward them at an unstoppable speed.
Around them, there was also some kind of barrier, protecting them from the whale’s deadly suction. Undoubtedly, it was him who had created the barrier.
Without it, they would have been sucked along with the water ability users. In the face of the whale’s power, the sovereign of the water, they had miscalculated if they thought it was similar to other sea creatures.
The whale’s mastery of the water element was greater than theirs.
Cassias held his pained groan as the water blades pierced the skin of his back. Zerra almost stopped breathing. Deep, long lacerations cut everywhere, coloring the water around them red.
"Zee..." he mumbled again before he fell unconscious again.
The barrier broke into pieces. Zerra hurriedly called for the whale’s help again. The gigantic sea creature positioned itself below them before lifting them up toward the surface again.
Zerra coughed severely before she dragged herself toward Cassias, still coughing. The pain of water entering her lungs almost made her chest explode.
She held on and approached Cassias. Even when using her own life force to nurse Cassias back to health, she didn’t have any hesitation. She poured her healing power toward him, fainting when she was too exhausted.
"I won’t return to the land before he recovers," Zerra told the whale as her paw traced Cassias’ flawless countenance.
His long eyelashes fluttered slightly because of the wind. The whale was moving at a slow pace, letting the human and fox on top of it feel comfortable.
"He didn’t look injured before." The whale asked curiously. "Why didn’t he wake up sooner?"
Zerra pursed her lips. "The damage isn’t to his physique–"
She stopped herself, widening her eyes. Why didn’t she think of it!
"I will try to heal him!" She held up her paws as if making an oath. With confusion filling its mind, the whale sensed as Zerra put her front paws on Cassias’ forehead.
She was going to enter his consciousness.
For the next countless days and nights, the whale swam in the ocean with a human and fox on its back.
Meanwhile, Zerra was in utter shock at this moment after she entered Cassias’ consciousness!
