CHAPTER 220: CHAPTER 220: CASSIAS’ CONSCIOUSNESS

She had thought it would take her a few attempts before Cassias would let her in, so when she entered on her first try, she wasn’t prepared at all!

After all, the most delicate and private place for celestial beings was their consciousness. With Cassias’ mental power ability, his consciousness should have been a strong one and wasn’t easily broken!

Her heart stirred, and indelible warmth coursed through her. Just how much did he trust her? Even when he wasn’t conscious, he still allowed her to be inside his consciousness.

Currently, she has fallen into an unknown area. She easily concluded Cassias was reliving some kind of memories. Because of the backlash from forcefully saving her parents into his inner space, his consciousness must have suffered.

"What is your identity in the celestial realm?" She couldn’t help but mutter.

The place she had fallen into... it was all too familiar to her. The fresh air, sunny weather, and lush vegetation. Even the thick spiritual energy felt almost tangible and real to her.

It was too different from the modern world, which was filled with pollution everywhere. The spiritual energy was also too pitifully thin.

She was really curious about Cassias. Maybe she could find out more about him through his memories? That man’s actions were too strange after all. Even if they came from the same place, he didn’t need to be always so kind and helpful toward her.

If he was reliving some kind of memories, it should be a memorable one for him; the kind of memories that filled him with regret, unpleasant experiences, or even fond moments.

She just didn’t know which memory she would experience.

Currently, she was walking through the forest. She wondered. "What did you do in the forest?"

Still in her fox form, she ran through the forest, enjoying the long-lost pleasant atmosphere she hadn’t experienced since centuries ago.

It almost felt like she had truly returned to the celestial realm.

"What a stinky cub. His temper is the worst!"

"Yeah, just look at his face as soon as we appear. He looks like we owe him money. That perpetual frown on his forehead is so annoying!"

She heard voices not too far away. Some spiritual animals were talking with each other as they climbed the trees. A koala with a monkey.

Her eyebrows raised. Who were they talking about?

So, she followed after the two, listening to them talking.

"That stinky cub just moved here a month ago, right? Yet he acted as if he owned the place. Seeing him act all high and mighty is so annoying!" The monkey let out a high-pitched screech in dissatisfaction.

It was hanging on a tree branch, swinging its body back and forth with its two hands.

"Hmm, but that cub is too strong!" The koala seemed troubled. "We can’t beat him."

"The two of us can’t beat him, but what if we gather more spiritual animals to join us? I don’t believe we can’t beat him. Let’s show him who is the boss!" The monkey proposed. It sounded excited about the idea.

Zerra tilted her head; her ears twitched. She instinctively licked her paw, listening as the two spiritual animals discussed things animatedly.

Who was the cub they were talking about? She noticed that the spiritual animals were cubs themselves.

She couldn’t help but follow them as they moved from tree to tree, curious. When she heard they were going to gather spiritual animals, her heart stirred. Will there be Cassias among them?

She suspected that the closeness between them was because he was also a spiritual animal in the celestial realm. His wings were the sign! He might come from some sort of bird family.

So, she decided she had to follow and not lose sight of the two cubs. They might lead her to Cassias.

However, something unexpected suddenly happened.

Like a horror movie when the ghost they found disappeared and reappeared again behind them, the lapse of focus caused her to lose sight of the two cubs. When she turned around to look for them, she nearly suffered a heart attack.

The monkey and koala cubs had been standing behind her, giving her a shock.

"Cunning fox cub, what are you doing by following us?" The monkey threw her a suspicious look. The koala also had a face full of disapproval.

Her heart nearly dropped, and she widened her eyes in surprise. Wasn’t she inside someone else’s memory? Why could they see her?

She fell into a daze, and uncertainty crept into her heart.

"Answer us, cunning fox!" The monkey started getting impatient. It was about to jump at Zerra and force her to answer, but the koala stopped it.

"Wait, don’t get angry at the fox. Maybe it heard our plan to ambush the stinky cub and wanted to join us? If that’s the case, the fox is in the same boat as us." The koala muttered. "The stinky cub must have hurt the fox’s feelings too!"

The monkey stopped. "That’s possible. That stinky cub has such a scary expression. It might have scared the little fox." It turned to Zerra and told her. "Don’t worry, little fox. We will protect you."

The series of quick changes made Zerra feel dumbfounded. It took the two cubs a few minutes, starting from making assumptions about her motive and giving it a conclusion.

"You are going to join us, right?" The koala asked, staring at her with its beady eyes.

Zerra wasn’t clear what sort of mischief they were hatching, but she decided to join. "Yes, I will join you two!"

That was how it started; the little snow-white fox joined the party as they marched in one direction, heading to the place of the stinky cub they were talking about.

It started with two cubs until other cubs also joined the fun.

Zerra was so surprised. What had the stinky cub done that had made it become so unpopular in this forest? Most cubs here felt so dissatisfied with it.

Not long after, they arrived at a shack. It was such a rough-looking dwelling. As if the owner had created it haphazardly as long as they had a place to stay.

"Let’s knock on the door!" The monkey led them. Without waiting for a response, it had jumped and become the first one to knock on the shack’s door.

They were yelling, knocking on the door, and making tons of noise. Zerra began to feel bad for whoever lived in that place.

"Get the hell away from here!" Suddenly, a boy’s voice yelled from inside, still filled with a hint of childishness.

"Come out if you dare, stinky cub! You know we bring more animals with us, and you are afraid!"

"Get out and face us, show us that–"

The words were cut off when the door slammed open. Zerra’s eyes widened when she saw the little figure on the door.
