Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 250: Innocent Dragon
CHAPTER 250: CHAPTER 250: INNOCENT DRAGON
She nearly threw Cassias out of her embrace. The golden irises stared at her unblinkingly, slowly making her uncomfortable from its intensity.
"Cassias?" She called out again, waving her hand in front of her. Her lips curled up in a relieved smile. He woke up at last.
However, her smile soon stiffened. Oh... did she jinx it? The owner of a pair of innocent eyes tilted his head, brimming with curiosity. It looked cute, but why did the look make her heart palpitate with worry?
The mesmerizing golden irises only hold her figure in their reflection, a woman with a slightly unkempt appearance–her long hair sticking out all over the place.
There was no sign of recognition in these eyes. As if... he didn’t know who she was.
Her heart sank, and a weight settled in her chest.
She tried again to call his name, hoping for a change. Her sound faint, almost like a whisper. "Cassias?"
He reached out, tapping her with his small claw. The look of confusion in his eyes didn’t dissipate. She didn’t even realize she was holding her breath.
Cassias’ eyes were full of innocence and curiosity, like an infant. She didn’t doubt that if someone offered him candy to kidnap him, he wouldn’t know what was happening.
"Little fox, what’s wrong?" The whale was wondering why she had become quiet all of a sudden.
She took a few deep breaths, forcing herself to calm down. In a stiff tone, she forced out an explanation. "My friend... doesn’t seem to remember who I am."
Inside her heart, she scolded Cassias deeply. What a scumbag. Why bother asking her whether she remembered their entanglement in the past lives while he wouldn’t remember it himself the moment he woke up?
Her mind would occasionally flash with foreign memories. Something that belonged to her, and yet at the same time, not. She rubbed her temples, sighing.
"Maybe it’s his species’ method of recovering his body?" The whale offered an explanation.
She pursed her lips. "It can be..."
Her eyes met his golden irises again. He looked so well-behaved, unlike her who would climb around and bite people. The comparison made her a little ashamed.
"But nevermind. I will take care of him," she muttered with determination.
Now, she was faced with yet another problem. What did a baby dragon usually eat? Human flesh? Glittering gold and diamonds?
She grimaced and immediately shook her head, flipping him around and opening his mouth. There was a pair of small fangs there. If he ate such hard objects, she didn’t doubt they might be gone.
"His intelligence seems to have been reduced. Like a human baby," Zerra muttered, unknown whether it was for herself or the whale.
She thought about it for a moment before she pulled out a few fruits, vegetables, canned meat, and other food. She would let him pick.
The baby dragon jumped out of her embrace, staring at the rows of food in front of him with curiosity. She witnessed him touching a water bottle... the spring water.
It kept shoving the water bottle around. For a moment, she was bewildered seeing the dragon cub playing with the bottle instead of trying the food in front of him.
The baby dragon stared at her with his pure eyes, tilting his head, then he looked at the bottle of spring water again. He repeated the actions a few times. Her stupid brain only understood what he was trying to convey a few minutes later.
The dragon cub only has his paw, so of course he couldn’t open the bottle. How silly of her for not realizing it.
She smacked her own forehead, giggling. "You want the spring water?"
He tilted his head again, then nodded slowly. She blinked, a little surprised. It meant that Cassias could still understand human speech. She had tried to talk with him using brain wave communication with no avail.
It was like he didn’t understand the code transmitted to his brain.
But since he could understand human speech at least, it was good. Let’s take baby steps.
She took the spring water and put it on a small glass. "Here, drink it and get better."
The dragon cub took a sip, then sat beside her, pointing to a vegetable porridge. She shoved the bowl to him, asking, "Do you want this?"
The baby dragon was a little slow. It wobbled toward the glass of spring water and slowly shoved it toward her. Then, it stared at her with her pair of innocent eyes.
She was surprised yet again. Why did she instantly understand what it meant this time? Humming, she took a few spoonfuls of the spring water and put them on the porridge. The dragon cub was already back to her side.
"You want it like this, right?" She asked.
The baby dragon nodded, then shook his head, shoving the bowl toward her again.
She stared into his eyes again and inexplicably understood what he was trying to say. "Okay, what a spoiled baby dragon." She flicked his head softly.
The baby dragon let out a small, cute roar. As if he was complaining and trying to intimidate her. Amusement flickered in her eyes.
She took a small spoonful of the porridge and began feeding him. Now, the role was really reversed.
After he was done eating, she checked him again and found out he was recovering faster. During another meal, he even shoved some of her favorite snacks toward her.
It made her thoughtful. Maybe, his recovery would be faster than she expected?

During the night, as the scarlet light shone from the moon above, she was awakened by something stomping on her. Groaning, she caught the disobedient little thing.
She took her words back. The baby dragon wasn’t well-behaved at all! He often woke her up at night. It has happened a few days in a row now.
"What’s wrong now?" She sighed tiredly, rubbing her eyes. "Are you hungry?"
Unfortunately, only a bottle of spring water remained now. The good thing was, this baby dragon wasn’t that picky about food. As long as it has the spring water, it could eat anything.
He shook his head. Zerra narrowed her eyes. He stared back with his pure and innocent eyes.
She closed her eyes, sighing. "Fine."
If he just wanted someone to accompany him, then she would indulge him. Over the past few days, she also had been trying to put the baby dragon inside her inner space.
Based on her power improvement ever since she woke up from his sea of consciousness, she should be able to put him there. However, she still couldn’t figure out what was wrong until now.
She had experimented on some fishes since she couldn’t risk Cassias’ safety. The fish managed to stay in her inner space for a few days before they were thrown out.
But Cassias... he was a different matter altogether.
"Huh?" She gasped. "What are you doing?"
She hurriedly caught the disobedient little thing. Her heart almost jumped out of her chest when she saw him running toward the upper part of the whale’s mouth.
If he slid down, the consequence would be...
She caught the dragon cub, hugging him tight on her chest, heaving a sigh of relief. A few seconds later, she was caught off guard when the whale suddenly opened its eyes. She was thrown nearly to the sea.
"Oh, sorry, little fox. I was too excited and didn’t realize you were there." The whale apologized.
"It’s fine." Zerra let out a breath after she steadied herself.
"Your little dragon gave me something: colorful stones. They are beneficial for me. I thank your little dragon." The whale cheerfully told her.
Zerra was a little stunned. Colorful stones? Did the whale refer to crystal cores?
She sat down in a safer spot and was about to lecture the dragon cub when it suddenly shook its little body. A few bottles of spring water and crystal cores fell to her lap.
Then, he stared at her as if looking for praise. She was speechless, but her heart softened.
"Is it for me?" She had no more crystal cores since she had spent all of them a day ago–for the sake of improving her power and inner space because she needed to bring the baby dragon inside.
The crystal cores were of high-quality. She suspected they were taken from the zombie spiritual beasts of the celestial realm.
When he heard her question, the little dragon nodded. He even shook his little figure again, trying to take out more when he saw Zerra’s astonished expression.
"It’s enough." She hurriedly stopped him. "Thank you!"
Days passed and she began to miss the land. When she saw Cassias’ state, she bit her lip and made a decision. They had to go to the land soon.
So, she began to absorb the spiritual energy from the crystal cores crazily.
Until one day, she found out something that made her utterly speechless.
"You are going to the land, little fox?" The whale asked. "Your friend’s form is unusual. Are you not afraid someone might try to take him away?"
Upon hearing that, Cassias swung his tail like a puppy. He jumped toward Zerra and did something unexpected.
