Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 47: Hidden Warehouse
CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47: HIDDEN WAREHOUSE
The trip to the supermarket started as soon as they got in the car. A local businessman had shared with them the secret of the place.
Even if the supplies inside the supermarket had been seized by others, there was still an underground warehouse. Having no power to move the supplies himself, the businessman merely asked for one third of the supplies.
For sure, it could guarantee his life in the apocalypse as long as the base was still standing and no malicious people targeted him.
Zerra was in the car with Cassias, while Laziel was with Nyra. With her siblings gone, she had the whole seat for herself after she put the things to her space.
She flopped down like a fish. Cassias had modified the rear seat of his car with a folding bed. It was really convenient. In case they found no lodging, they could sleep there.
"You are so genius to have built something like this." Zerra gave him a thumbs up; her lazy bones stirred.
If it weren’t for the apocalypse, it would feel like they were going for a picnic instead of going out to find supplies for their survival. Freeloading the male lead was also a good thing.
"How long were you packing last night? Are you still sleepy?" Cassias noticed the faint darkness under her eyes.
Zerra yawned and stretched. "Nyra told me to pack my necessities into the bag instead of putting them into the space. She woke me up in the middle of the night and I had to do it until the sun rose."
It was so troublesome, but she had to do it.
Cassias nodded. "Just sleep if you are tired."
"I will sleep when I feel sleepy later." Zerra was curiously looking out the windows. Some zombies chased after them as soon as they spotted living humans.
Most of the time, they outrun the zombies. Still, some of the nearby and faster ones needed to be solved.
The group had made a plan. The last vehicle, which was a truck, would throw explosives if they spotted densely packed zombies running after them.
After a while, Zerra could no longer hold her sleepiness. She drifted off to dreamland.
Sensing that the rear seat was quiet, Cassias glanced at the back. He found Zerra already asleep. His eyes slowly fixated on a certain part of her limbs, then he withdrew his gaze with a thoughtful look on his face.
In half a day, they rested in an abandoned restaurant after they took care of the zombies inside.
"Ugh, it’s so dirty." They muttered. Nevertheless, they didn’t have a choice but to eat and rest in such a condition.
Other than the smears of blood and dirt on the tables or chairs, zombies outside also accompanied them. They were growling and snarling, their limbs flailing around trying on the window glass.
They wanted to go inside.
"Just eat quickly. After an hour, we need to continue," Henry warned his subordinates, clicking his tongue.
His eyes occasionally darted to Darren and others, who were seated at one table. Their table was clean because Laziel had used his water ability.
"In another half a day, it would be midnight. We will find a hotel and rest for a while before continuing the next day." Darren explained about the plan to them.
Zerra, who was forcing her eyes open to eat despite her laziness, asked, "Those people agree with you?"
Darren shrugged. "It was them who requested it."
"Although we have awakened superpowers and have better endurance compared to ordinary humans, we still need some rest." Nyra glanced at Zerra.
"That’s right." Laziel immediately went along with his sister. "Even after I awaken my power, I don’t feel much difference. Most likely, I need to increase my power."
Darren’s eyes flashed with a bit of awkwardness. He didn’t refute Nyra’s words.
Zerra bit her lips and inwardly sighed. Here it was. She just asked a question and the whole world would misunderstand. She didn’t mean to tell them that they should drive all night without rest.
Oh, forget it. It was useless arguing against the female protagonist when all her admirers and a loyal sidekick were here.
As she ate, her gaze occasionally drifted to the zombies outside. Her curiosity was piqued again.
If she commanded more than one, would they listen? What was the cause of her first minion rebelling? Was it time duration or something else?
She should find an opportunity to find out.
"Do you want spicy chips?" Cassias asked in a low voice beside her. She snapped her head to him in an instant, with eagerness in her eyes.
"Do you have it?" Her voice held surprise.
He brought out a small pack of spicy chips. From the backpack he carried. "Here, don’t eat too much. Lest your stomach feels uncomfortable."
Zerra’s mood lightened in an instant as she tasted each spiciness to her tastebud. She already completely forgot about the small misunderstanding earlier.
Nyra lowered her head, her pupils a few shades deeper.
After they finished resting, the group continued. They took around half an hour to solve all the zombies and tended to the injured people.
Zerra, already fallen in love with the folding bed, jumped in again impatiently. She took out a long pillow from her space and hugged it.
Cassias raised his eyebrows. "Are you going to sleep again? Are you a panda?"
Zerra answered in her muffled voice, "Yes, I am a panda. I just want to wake up to eat and then sleep all day." She let out a sigh.
"Don’t sleep." Cassias suddenly told her.
She lifted her head from the pillow and stared at him. "Why?"
"Accompany me. Don’t you know it’s lonely to drive for hours with none to talk to?" Cassias glanced at her.
Zerra thought about it and found that it made sense. Cassias’ lips curled up slightly.
"Uh, then, let’s talk about my parents." Zerra decided. "You have to answer all the questions from me. How about it?"
He readily nodded. Zerra took this chance to truly find out about her parents’ accommodation there. Like how long would the supplies last, or how was the defense of the place they were staying at.
"You prepared so much." Zerra’s eyes narrowed. She crossed her hands. "You have space too."
He openly took things out of his space in front of her lately.
"Aren’t you afraid I will reveal your secrets to others?"
