Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 51: Revealing Her Ability
CHAPTER 51: CHAPTER 51: REVEALING HER ABILITY
Nyra glanced at her and offered no help, busy munching on her food. Meanwhile, Zerra, who had just recovered and built her resolve to grow stronger, experienced her first hurdle.
Just wait. If she ever found out who the author who wrote this story was, she would definitely torture them.
The plot was designed to torture her, the cannon fodder that all readers would hate from the perspective of the female lead.
"It’s just luck." She smiled stiffly.
Darren raised his eyebrow and cleared his throat. "Then, hopefully, we are as lucky as you."
Zerra glanced at him. She had a faint feeling that Darren had somewhat disliked her... but that was in accordance with the plot. Nothing unusual.
Nyra or Laziel would spare at nothing when it came to despising her anyway. Nyra was more subtle in her words or actions while Laziel wouldn’t bother hiding them.
"Yes, are you like Miss Nyra, who had received professional combat training before? Is it mandatory in your family?" They didn’t seem to want to let go of the topic yet.
"She just awakened her ability." Cassias suddenly said out of nowhere. He clicked his tongue. "Have you all forgotten that I was there too?"
Zerra, upon receiving a signal from Cassias, immediately nodded enthusiastically. "Cassias is right. I just awakened my power, and it’s a space ability. That’s why I can arrive so fast and bring him with me."
She was spouting nonsense. She was amazed and a little embarrassed when she saw the look of wonder on their faces. They really believed in her story. She was a bit guilty, but in the face of survival, she had to do anything to keep her secrets.
They chatted briefly about Zerra’s power, agreeing to have her store some supplies in her space. She noticed that most of those who had been talking were Darren’s people.
Across the room, Henry and his people didn’t really have a pleasant expression.
They nearly lost three ability users, but now two of their members were truly gone. The man whose feet were bitten by the zombie William? He couldn’t be saved anymore.
Not only did he lose his feet, his zombie transformation was too quick, lasting around for hours before it was declared irreversible.
"Oh, right?" The man, who was talking with Zerra, widened his eyes as if he just came to a realization. He scratched his head. "Yeah, how can I forget? You two make a great team."
"Miss Nyra told us you were only an ordinary person before. That’s why we were so surprised." The other chimed sheepishly.
Zerra nodded generously. If it was Nyra who told them, she wouldn’t question why they instantly believed it. In their eyes, they were siblings. Those people would assume that they had a good relationship. Well, except for Darren, who had begun showing his doubt.
Other than that, there was the concept of the protagonist halo and their insane luck that always defied logic.
When the night came, they all were either sleeping at the supermarket, warehouse, or in the vehicles.
There were only five women that joined the mission and they would stay together in a small motel nearby.
As for the men, they would exchange shifts to keep guard. Now that they had arrived there, the supplies were the most important thing and should be protected at all costs.
"Zerra, you sleep in that room." Nyra pointed at the farthest room to their right, located on the first floor. There were only eight rooms and two floors in the small motel.
Zerra just nodded. She wouldn’t argue over such a minor arrangement.
However, she found that for the first time, she was lucky.
"Ugh, there’s a dead person inside." A woman, who was a fellow ability user, came out while holding her nose. "The flesh already rotted, worse than those zombies."
"Really?"
Not long after, they found out that it wasn’t only one room that had rotting dead bodies inside. From the marks on the wall outside their rooms, they might have been too scared to come out because of the zombies.
That was understandable. Those zombies have been clawing at their doors and windows. Anyone experiencing that must have been so scared to death.
Then, because they had nothing to eat anymore in the motel room, they died out of starvation. It was truly tragic and pitiful at the same time.
Earlier, in some parts of the supermarket, they also encountered a few zombies. Most food supplies on the display shelves were long gone, ransacked by some desperate survivors.
Survival in the apocalypse was only for those who were lucky and the brave ones.
Yet, strangely, they hadn’t found a single living survivor nearby so far.
"We only have four rooms available." Olivia, a water ability user, stated. "Two people need to stay in one room."
Zerra’s room was clean, but they didn’t seem to want to be in the same room as her. Why? The window looked like it would break in case a zombie pulled it. They wouldn’t be able to sleep peacefully in such a horrible room.
"Does anyone want to stay with me?" Still, Zerra offered her room just as a formality.
Just as she guessed. None wanted to stay there. She didn’t mind; that was exactly what she wanted.
"Wait, your window isn’t that good." Nyra finally got a good look at the room’s condition. A look of worry crossed her face. She turned to the other three women. "I will stay with my younger sister. You can take the room."
Zerra’s mouth twitched. Hurriedly, she stopped her. "Elder sister, it’s alright. You always prefer sleeping alone. I can manage to stay by myself here."
The more time they spent outside, the more anxious she became. She fidgeted, acting like she was bitten by mosquitoes, and hurriedly went inside.
"I will go inside first. After I just awakened my power, I feel tired. You all can continue the discussion."
She let out a sigh of relief when Nyra didn’t insist on staying with her anymore.
If her premonition was right, she would soon turn into a fox again. She didn’t want to do that in front of them. Besides, she wouldn’t be sleeping. She would spend her time cultivating to consolidate her new level of power.
Or maybe not.
She suddenly missed Cassias... or, to be exact, his crystal cores.
After the night became quiet, she snuck out. She passed by the manager’s room, where they had found the keys, then headed to the supermarket.
Cassias was engaged in a heated conflict when she arrived, which involved the crystal core inside William’s brain.
The people from the Brown family regarded it as unethical, demanding Cassias to return it to them.
She blinked her fox eyes with a troubled expression. The crystal core was on her. He had insisted on her keeping it. One glance and she could tell that an ability user’s crystal core had much purer spiritual energy compared to random zombies.
"Cassias, you better return it. William is our comrade-in-arms, and we deserve to keep his crystal core." The man watched Cassias with sinister eyes.
Cassias was the one of the six people who had the duty to keep guard at the first shift. The other five were from the Brown family’s side.
What to do? She paced back and forth before she jumped near them.
She suddenly had a brilliant idea!
