Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 60: Cassias’ Space
CHAPTER 60: CHAPTER 60: CASSIAS’ SPACE
She blinked in astonishment.
This place...
She spun her tiny body a few times, her eyes widening. Before she knew it, she jumped around the grassy land and headed toward the spring nearby.
Her astonishment hadn’t faded yet. Every time her eyes landed on a particular scene, would take a deep breath in amazement.
It was unknown whether Cassias’ space power came from his innate awakened superpower or some kind of space artifact. But this space was like a small world of its own, similar to her inner space.
The difference? Her space couldn’t hold living beings! Not even her body could get in there yet. She could look at the stored items but not go inside.
As she arrived at the edge of the spring water, she accidentally tripped over a rock and fell in.
"Woah, Foxy looked like a drenched dog. What happened to her?" Who else was it if not Laziel’s loud mouth speaking?
Zerra was back in the living room of Scott’s house, her fur dripping with water. She was in Cassias’ arms, getting his shirt wet.
The moment she heard Laziel’s words, she turned to him and bared her teeth aggressively.
"Why is she angry?" Laziel blinked in surprise. "I wasn’t the one who threw her in the water..."
Just as she tried to jump on Laziel to teach him a lesson with her teeth, Cassias pressed her head down softly. "Don’t get angry."
Her attention was back on him and the space. She let out a small yip, her paw tapped his hand anxiously, hoping that he would understand. She wanted to go into his space again!
His spring was incredibly refreshing!
"There is a cooldown," he whispered in a low voice that only the two of them could hear.
Zerra froze, then she let out a sigh. That was right; it was impossible such a good thing to not have some sort of limitation for a living being.
Or else, it would have been too convenient for him to live inside the space instead of fighting to survive in the apocalypse.
Cassias brought out a towel and began to dry her fur with it.
She secretly grumbled in her heart. The spring was so refreshing; she felt like she was floating in the clouds. Alas, she could only experience that for a few seconds before Cassias’ space ejected her out.
Seeing that look of contemplation on his face, she was sure that he had treated her as a guinea pig. He wanted to see whether a living being could be stuffed there.
When he put her down on the table, she held out her hand. The meaning was practically written all over her face: compensate for scaring her!
Cassias was generous as usual. A small hill appeared in front of Zerra, and her attention was soon occupied by the crystal cores.
"Tsk, isn’t raising this fox going to make you go bankrupt?" Laziel clicked his tongue.
He actually jumped from his chair and approached Zerra’s tiny figure, inspecting her like an animal in a zoo. As he walked in a circle around her, he commented, "Foxy’s eyes are lively hazel. Unlike those zombies, empty and full of whiteness."
"She is quite different, don’t you think? Other zombie animals are so ugly. Rotten and smelly. But she looks even cuter than any fox I have ever seen." He held his chin, stroking it thoughtfully.
Zerra’s movement paused. She lifted her eyes to Laziel and raised her chin proudly. If only she had a recorder; she would definitely record what this stinky brother of hers had said.
When he found out that the fox he just praised was her...
Hehe.
"The only rotten thing about her is her personality."
Zerra turned to him sharply. Unfortunately, Laziel was prepared. He jumped away the moment she shifted her gaze to him. Thus, she bit into empty air.
"Hiss, just look at her. So ferocious. Cassias, tell me. If she bites me again, will I become a zombie?" He blabbered on.
However, Zerra was stunned when she heard that. She had bitten Laziel before? When? Her head snapped to Cassias questioningly, anxious to find an answer.
"Well, if you don’t improve your power, you might turn into one." Cassias raised his eyebrows. "But isn’t it because of her that you awakened your power?"
Zerra’s hanging heart eased slightly. Still, she couldn’t rest assured. For the first time, she abandoned her favorite crystal cores and launched herself toward the unsuspecting Laziel.
"Huh, Foxy...!" Laziel nearly screamed in fright and shock.
She used her senses to inspect Laziel, even as far as using zombie control to see whether he would react to it. He didn’t. It made her feel immensely relieved.
After letting go of Laziel’s pants ankle area, she jumped down, going back to her snack. She was no longer interested in him. He was as healthy as a parrot who could not shut up.
"Wait, Cassias... this fox seems to be able to understand our words, doesn’t she?" Realization finally dawned on Laziel’s face.
"You just found out about it...?" Cassias trailed off. His tone was light, and he was smiling, but Laziel could feel something wasn’t right with his words. He wasn’t making fun of him, was he?
Zerra let out a disdainful snort. She continued to dig into her food and not let anyone else interrupt her.
During the time she was eating, Cassias and Laziel’s conversation had shifted to their awakened superpowers. Laziel was consulting Cassias about it, admitting that the fog had been making him uncomfortable.
"But I think my control has improved lately. I should be able to reach level two soon..."
Her mind also wandered. She found out that when she was in fox form, the fog didn’t obstruct her heightened senses as much as she was in her human form.
The crystal cores were already finished, so she slipped away when Cassias was helping Laziel draw power from crystal cores with water attributes.
She wanted to check Scott’s barn. It made her curious. What kind of farm animals were there?
Her four legs trotted to the barn. Everything was incredibly quiet. She thought that it was the fog that made all the animals unsettled.
Maybe she could check which animal would mutate soon so that they could handle it swiftly? With that thought in mind, she tried to open the door to the barn.
She climbed onto the hay bales beside the door. Her paw reached to lift the crossbar lock. Just as she touched it, a voice rang from behind her.
"Huh? What is it?" A slight pause. "An animal escaped from the barn?"
The hand snatched her tiny figure.
