Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister
Chapter 94: Heading to the Main Base
CHAPTER 94: CHAPTER 94: HEADING TO THE MAIN BASE
After Zerra and Isryn went back to their room, Isryn went to sleep, but Zerra didn’t.
She took a peek at Isryn’s even breathing, who should already have fallen asleep deeply. In her hand, there was the powder of the mutated mushroom.
She sprinkled a small amount, guiding it with spiritual energy toward Isryn’s figure. She also whispered some sort of words to guide Isryn’s subconscious to fall deeper into sleep. The amount she had taken wasn’t harmful, but enough to make people sleep like a log.
Isryn would wake up as usual tomorrow, considering that she had wood ability. Zerra did this because she had a feeling she would turn into a fox again tonight.
She paced back and forth soundlessly by the window. The faint red in the sky looked somewhat ominous. All of a sudden, just as the cloud above covered the moon, she found herself becoming small again.
With a sigh, she trotted to the pillow she had put on the floor. She lay there like a lazy fox.
"What if I just eat the crystal core...?" She suddenly thought. Coincidentally, she was in fox form now. Eating crystal cores was as easy as breathing for her.
In a flash, the translucent crystal core appeared in her paws. She clutched it tightly, a little reluctant.
Then, discarding her hesitation, she chomped down on the crystal core. She didn’t forget to put up walls around herself with spiritual energy, so that none could hear the crunching sounds in the silent night.
After she took a few bites, she sensed a change. Her tiny figure shuddered, and the crystal core, half-eaten, nearly fell from her paws.

They set off early in the morning. The cars heading toward the human base attracted some attention. Some people peeked through their houses’ windows, then they quickly closed them again.
Those people who didn’t go to the base still received some meager supplies every week. They were thin and malnourished, only daring to eat so little for fear of having nothing to eat tomorrow.
The human base was too crowded, and they didn’t know whether they would get a place there. They were scared they would be sleeping on the streets if they went there and there was no place left...
For those families with ability users among the members, the ability users would occasionally go out and bring supplies back, joining missions from the base for supplies.
Along the way, Zerra noticed the situation was relatively more peaceful. There were no zombies following them, or fallen trees blocking the way.
"Zee, are you alright? You look pale." Isryn’s words caught the attention of everyone in the car.
Cassias turned to her and frowned in disapproval. "We can stop and you switch with Eryx." He asked Isryn, "Can you treat her with your power?"
Zerra was dumbfounded. "I am just really sleepy..."
"Let her sit here beside me." Isryn nodded.
Cassias stopped the car, ignoring her weak reasoning. Having no choice, she could only switch her seat with Eryx and let Isryn treat her.
The flowing vitality repaired the backlash from last night. After Zerra took a few bites of the crystal core, she knew she had screwed herself.
She had leveled up to the fourth stage, but at the same time, she suffered a backlash from excessive energy. Her tiny figure was unable to bear too much force.
The pain made her suffer all night; she couldn’t get a wink of sleep. Upon receiving Isryn’s treatment, the paleness on her face slowly receded, and her figure relaxed.
At least she had upgraded to level four now; although she hadn’t been able to check her space again yet. Last night, she was blocked from accessing it. She drank the spring water provided by Cassias before drifting off to sleep out of exhaustion.
When she regained consciousness again, it was the start of evening, startling her.
"Are you hungry?" Cassias asked her, putting the bowl of porridge on her lap. "Eat it first. You are sick. If you are still hungry, tell me what you want to eat later."
She subconsciously wanted to explain that she wasn’t sick, but then she remembered the painful backlash. Indeed, if she ate heavy food, she was afraid she would vomit, so she obediently ate the porridge on her lap.
The orange hue already covered the sky.
"I have been sleeping for too long," Zerra mumbled. "Are we heading to the main base now?"
That guy Sean must have handed over his supplies.
The location of the Virethorn family’s mansion was at the center of the Capital city, and she guessed that the main base shouldn’t be too far from there.
"Yes. If there is not much obstruction along the way, we will arrive at least in two days," Cassias explained. After she was done eating, he gave her a piece of candy.
"The others already had their meals, so we are not going to stop for dinner." He added.
Zerra felt it was strange. Then, it dawned on her that there were no cars in front of them. Cassias was the one leading the way. She subconsciously asked, "Didn’t Sean say that it’s dangerous to travel during the night?"
"There’s me." He flashed her a smile.
She was stunned. Tilting her head, she stared at him in puzzlement. He had told others about his mental power just like that?
"We have many people on our side," Isryn chimed from the middle seat. They had moved Zerra back to the passenger seat. "So, handling a few zombies wouldn’t be a problem."
Oh, Zerra didn’t want to think about it anymore. It made her head hurt. Anyway, it was the male lead’s doing anyway; he wasn’t a stupid person who would easily reveal his power to others or trust easily.
During the two-day journey, indeed there weren’t many zombies appearing, but there was still occasionally a flock of mutated animals.
The journey felt long, but they finally arrived at the Capital. Each of them had their own plan. Darren will go his own way with his people to do his mission. Meanwhile, the Sylvaris siblings would go to their parents.
At noon, they visited the Virethorn mansion briefly and found out that the parents were living in a separate house, still within the Virethorn family’s property.
So they went to visit them. But the front gate was locked, and there were no signs of Alaric and Nerith after a while.
Even until the sky turned dark.
"They went out this morning and I haven’t seen them return," the passing neighbor told them.
The more Zerra listened, the more anxious she became. Has something happened to her parents?
