CHAPTER 515: THIRD LEVEL ZOMBIES

Bai Meiyue and the rest went straight to the mansion after leaving the base.

The mansion was not only quite far from the base, but it was also near the centre of the city. Although the area was located at the harbour, it was only a fifteen-minute drive to the main city. They needed to take a few turns before they could arrive at the mansion.

As they came to a stop, she realised that the mansion had indeed been cleaned by Lei Qian and his team. The zombies had already been taken care of, which meant that they didn’t need to worry about the zombies for the time being. Of course, according to Lei Qian, this was not enough, and they needed to take care of the zombies around the mansion.

From what he told her, boys were naturally naughty by instinct, and there was a good chance that their son might run out of the mansion when they were not paying attention.

Bai Meiyue wanted to tell Lei Qian that her son was not some brat who wouldn’t understand the situation, but then again, she couldn’t be sure. Her son was not a brat, but he was a fool. What if someone cajoled him and took him out of the mansion?

She needed to make sure that the surroundings were clear of danger, just in case Little Cai Cai disappeared.

So when Lei Qian said that he was going to clean the area, she didn’t stop him. Nuh-uh, she asked him to be her guest.

"Break down the walls between the mansions after you are done cleaning up the zombies," barked Lei Qian as he ordered the team of humans and ability users whom they trust to come with them.

Bai Jixuan let out a muffled groan, which made it quite clear that he didn’t like the fact that Lei Qian was commanding them. However, he lowered his head when Bai Zhan turned and shot a look at him.

Once the orders were given away, the rest of the process was quite simple. They just needed to clean up the zombies outside of the mansion and the other mansions.

Of course, Bai Meiyue knew that it was not as simple as she thought it was. They had to pry open the doors of every mansion, and each time they kicked open the door, there was a very good chance that a bunch of zombies were waiting for them right on the other side of the door.

If they were not careful, they could be bitten by the zombies.

Ability users might not get affected by these bites, but they would indeed get sick for several days, which would only cause trouble for them. No one wanted to get a fever at these times, so they were really careful.

As for the common survivors, they were even more careful because if they got bitten, then they would end up turning into zombies, and they didn’t want that to happen.

Because of this, the cleanup took a long time.

As for Bai Meiyue, she stayed behind, but she was not lazing around. Once the mansion was cleaned up, she would rush inside and fill the clean vat with water and use the hot water to clean the plumbing. It had been months since anyone had lived in these mansions, and there was a good chance that the pipes were blocked.

After cleaning the plumbing system, she would rush to the basement and cover it with thick layers of ice. Once she was done, she stocked up the supplies that they had brought with them inside the basement.

She also filled a clean vat with water.

In the next few days, people from their team would come and go out of these mansions, as the cleanup wouldn’t happen overnight.

Though Bai Meiyue knew that she was wronging these people, there was no way around it. She was going to replace these vats with water purifiers once she moved here; before that, she could only leave these vats alone.

By the time she was done, night had fallen, and everyone went to their RV to sleep. The only problem was that no one dared to close their eyes and take a nap, not with the cries and howls of the zombies that sounded distant but kept everyone on their toes.

Even Bai Meiyue didn’t dare to close her eyes until fatigue caught up to her and she ended up falling asleep without knowing.

"AHHHH!!"

The next morning, Bai Meiyue woke up to a man’s guttural scream. She jumped to her feet and rushed out of the RV with the butcher knife in her hand. As she rushed out, she ran into Xiao Wu, who was standing over one of his men who was bitten by a zombie. His entire arm had been chopped off, and he was looking at Xiao Wu with a painful look on his face, "I am... I am sorry, boss. I wasn’t paying attention, and that thing...that thing just appeared out of nowhere. I swear it was di—ah–different from the zombies that we usually fight. It was really strong and fast."

Xiao Wu listened to the words of his underling. He nodded and then spoke with a grunt, "I will ask Little Rabbit to keep you under observation for the next twenty-four hours. If you make it through, then you can continue working for me. If not... I will give you an easy death."

The man smiled wryly before shaking his head. He said to Xiao Wu, "Boss, just shoot me to death. That thing... It was different from the other zombies. I am sure that I will turn into a zombie after getting bitten by that thing. There is no point in keeping me alive, boss."

Xiao Wu looked at his underling with a pained expression. He asked, "Are you sure?"

"I am sure. I would rather die a proper death than become a danger to my brothers."

"Yun Fu!" Someone in the crowd shouted.

However, the man shook his head and said to Xiao Wu, "Do it, Boss!"
