However, upon arriving at the bedroom, Bai Meiyue realised that she didn’t feel sleepy at all. As she lay on the princess’s bed, with her hands placed on her abdomen, Bai Meiyue stared at the ceiling. Even though she was tired, sleep wouldn’t come. Her head throbbed because of the lack of sleep.

Sighing, she got up and sat upright after rolling around on the bed. Even though she exchanged for a good mattress to lie down on, Bai Meiyue couldn’t get even a wink of sleep. This made her wonder if she couldn’t sleep because her space had changed. She pursed her lips, and after waiting for a while, she headed downstairs.

As Bai Meiyue stepped down, she heard Lei Qian say to Lu Yu, "How long are you going to mope around for? You were rejected, alright. It’s not a big deal."

"You will not understand," said Lu Yu as he sighed and took a big swig of the beer that he found in one of the mansions. "This was my first time proposing to someone, and I was rejected."

’He was rejected? Who is this charming lady who rejected Lu Yu?’ thought Bai Meiyue as she paused in her steps and listened to the fresh gossip that was going downstairs.

Lei Qian seemed annoyed, but at the same time, he seemed to understand how Lu Yu felt. If Bai Meiyue had rejected him and kicked him out of her and their child’s life, then maybe he, too, would be lying on the floor and drinking liquor.

He comforted Lu Yu. "Alright. I understand that you are upset, but there are plenty of fish in the sea. Why bother yourself with just Shen Zhen alone? Maybe there is someone else much better waiting out there for you. Don’t you think?"

Persuading Lu Yu, Lei Qian offered him another plate of chicken wings with spicy sauce. These chicken wings were something that he prepared for Bai Meiyue, but after taking a look at his heartbroken friend, Lei Qian realised that he needed them more than Bai Meiyue. He would make these wings for Bai Meiyue sometime later on.

Lu Yu grabbed a wing and took a bite of it. After taking a bite, he drank the beer in his hand and exhaled through his mouth. "I just feel like a big fat loser."

Hearing his response, Lei Qian simply sighed. He whipped the eggs in the bowls and let them fall into the water in the pot. He said to Lu Yu, "If you are so hurt by her rejection, why don’t you try to change her mind then? If you are hung up on her, then maybe try to win her heart rather than getting yourself drunk."

"Not everyone is as shameless as you, Master Lei," snapped Lu Yu as he raised his head and looked at Lei Qian with a scowl on his face. Lei Qian was an anomaly; even though Bai Meiyue pushed him aside, he never let it get to him. He would be upset for an hour at most if Bai Meiyue scolded him, and then the next second, he would turn around and chase after her again.

He couldn’t even think of doing something so shameless.

Lei Qian only smiled when he heard Lu Yu’s words. Taking no offence at his words, he said to Lu Yu, "Do you think loving someone is all about marrying and proposing to them? There will be a time when you have to lower your head and apologise. Comfort the woman you love when she feels terrified or insecure. There are a lot of things that you will have to do when you get together with someone."

"And like Shen Zhen said. She is scared of getting married or attached to a man, as she believes that he will use her or abandon her, so shouldn’t you try to change her mind? Prove to her that she is wrong. That you will never change, nor will you leave her alone."

"If she cannot trust men, then make her trust you. Whether she trusts another man or not, it has nothing to do with you."

Suddenly, Lu Yu froze. His expression cleared up. That was right; why did he not think of it? Why was he lying here like a loser and drinking away his sorrows? He should think of a way to make Shen Zhen trust him. Whether she could learn how to trust another man or not had nothing to do with him.

He just needed to make sure that she trusted him.

"This is the end of the world. You don’t need to care so much about what others will say, and even if the world were not ending... the mockery of the people around you, is it worth losing the woman that you desire?" Lei Qian asked. He then turned to look at Lu Yu and asked fiercely, "Or do you really have thoughts of letting go of her and then making another woman yours?"

Lu Yu scrambled to his feet and shouted, "Of course not; I am not that kind of person."

It might have become a norm for people to exchange, change and abandon their lovers after the apocalypse, but he was not the same! He would never do something like this.

"Then what are you scared of? Just charge ahead and prove it to Shen Zhen that you are the man for her."

When Lu Yu heard Lei Qian’s words, his drunken haze cleared up slightly. He raised his hand and slapped it heavily on his forehead. "I was just so lost after getting rejected that I never thought that this was also an option. Maybe... Maybe I can try to pursue her." Why was he worried about Shen Zhen not trusting men? He just needed to prove that she could trust him, Lu Yu!

So what if he was a man? He was different from her father.

Then he turned to look at Lei Qian and bowed his head. "Thank you for helping me, Master Lei."
