CHAPTER 521: ANOTHER CONFESSION

"Go and bother her if you have thought things through," said Lei Qian as he lifted his foot and kicked Lu Yu in the shin. Lu Yu jumped to one side before running out of the kitchen. While he ran to look for Shen Zhen, Bai Meiyue climbed down the stairs. She walked to the kitchen and crossed her arms before leaning against the doorframe.

"I never thought that you were this good at giving love advice," she said to the man with an arched brow.

Lei Qian turned to look at her. His lips curled in a smile, and he said to her, "I just told him what I learnt from my experience. It might be a bit crude, but it’s honest advice. Sincere hearts can move mountains if they are true to their ambition."

Upon hearing his words, Bai Meiyue simply smiled.

On the other side, Lu Yu rushed to the small medicine hall where Shen Zhen was working at the moment. This small medicine hall was just around the street and had been cleaned up by the teams that Bai Meiyue and Lei Qian brought with them. This building had three floors. On the ground floor, the workers of this shop used to sell traditional medicines, while on the second floor, they sold Western medicines.

And on the topmost floor, there was a bit of equipment and hospital beds, which proved that one of the zombies who were killed off by the ability users was once a doctor and used to treat people on the topmost floor.

Though this was not good enough when compared to the facilities that Fox told her about, Shen Zhen was satisfied. She would rather have a hospital that was completely under her control rather than work under someone else.

"I will take this floor," she said to the other nurses and doctors. "We are seriously understaffed, and the equipment is also less. We cannot move pregnant women upstairs. So, just break this wall and connect it with the shop next to this building. The same could be done for the other two floors."

Zhou Hongbei nodded and agreed. "We can move the cardiology and physiotherapy departments to the second and third floors, respectively. It will be a bit tough for the patients to walk upstairs with no lift, but this is still better than having no healthcare."

Doctor Cui yawned as he pulled his arms up over his head and arched his back. He said, "You are right. It’s the end of the world; they should be glad that they are getting even these facilities anyway, even if they have a problem... There is nothing we can do. Because there is no way I will work for Yu Miaomiao."

Zhou Hongbei agreed at once. When he had heard the offer, he wanted to check out the hospital that Fox spoke so highly of, but the second he heard the new rules set by Yu Miaomiao, he backpedalled right away. How could he work under a woman like that? Who knows if he made her angry, she might command him to work and perform surgeries until he dropped dead? He couldn’t allow that to happen.

Thus, it was better to work in compromised conditions rather than work for a woman like that.

"We should start cleaning then," said Shen Zhen as she looked at the rotten blood that was sticking on the floor, wall and tables as well as the chairs.

"Alright."

The medical team separated and then went to work.

Shen Zhen started wiping the blood off the table. She scrunched up her nose when she realised how bad the scent of the rotten blood was. Jiang Haidai walked over with her son and said to Shen Zhen, "Doctor Shen, can I take these vials with me? They were splashed with blood as well and need to be doused in hot water. Only then can I clean them."

Shen Zhen looked at the vials of pills that were coloured black and red due to the blood that was splashed on them and nodded.

As she went back to scrubbing the surface of the table, Lu Yu arrived at the clinic. He peered inside the building and saw Shen Zhen right away. He said to her, "Miss Shen, can you please come out? There is something that I want to talk to you about."

When Shen Zhen heard his tone, she thought that something had happened and she hurriedly threw the dirty piece of cloth and turned to run outside. She was afraid that it was Bai Meiyue who had injured herself by running around. A few of the nurses also went to follow her but were stopped by Lu Yu, who raised his hand and said to them, "Why are you following her? This is a personal matter."

The nurses paused and looked at Lu Yu. It was only then that they noticed that the man looked really handsome and was dressed in his finest piece of clothing without a speck of dirt, while they, on the other hand, were covered in dirt from head to toe.

All of a sudden, something clicked in their heads, and they stepped back.

Seeing this, Lu Yu smiled and then said to the two women. "I will return your Doctor Shen in a while."

"No. You can take your time."

"Yes, Yes. Take your time; we are not in a hurry."

Lu Yu nodded and then hurried after Shen Zhen. Once he disappeared, the two nurses turned to look at one another and burst into a fit of giggles. They never thought that they would see a day when their Doctor Shen would be confessed to by a man.

"I never thought that there would be a man bold enough to confess to Doctor Shen."

"Sure enough, the wise ones were right. If you stay alive for long, then you can see absolutely anything."

Once they finished speaking, they burst into giggles once again.
