Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies
Chapter 668: Tong Huan: Way Too Naive (II)
CHAPTER 668: TONG HUAN: WAY TOO NAIVE (II)
Inside the mansion, when Bai Meiyue returned to the living room, she saw Jiang Haidai and Tong Huan waiting for her. The two of them had just finished with their own things, and when they heard that Bai Meiyue was talking with Xu Yiyi, they couldn’t help but turn curious. They wondered what the two women were talking about. Especially Tong Huan, who wanted to send those women out of the safe base before they could ruin the atmosphere of the safe base.
Who knows what kind of trouble those women might bring to the safe base if they were to stay here?
Jiang Haidai, who finished feeding her son, turned to look at Bai Meiyue and asked her with contempt dripping from her voice, "Miss Bai, what did that woman say to you? Is she willing to leave the safe base with the rest of the vixens?"
She had heard everything from Tong Huan and didn’t have a good impression of those women. She thought that they were nothing good. After all, even she, who was pregnant and had a son, was willing to kill zombies. But those women, instead of working hard, were selling their bodies. It was really too much.
Bai Meiyue smiled when she heard the words of Jiang Haidai. She softly asked, "Do you think that they are not good people?"
"Of course—"
"Then what kind of person do you think you two would have become if I hadn’t helped you two?"
Jiang Haidai and Tong Huan were taken aback by the question that Bai Meiyue asked them. The two of them looked at one another and frowned. Tong Huan didn’t seem to understand what Bai Meiyue was trying to say to her, but Jiang Haidai understood. She parted her lips, wanting to say something, but couldn’t; after all, she knew that if Bai Meiyue had not come to her aid, as well as her two children, then they would have suffered quite a lot. And maybe they would have fallen into the same pit as Xu Yiyi.
Back then, as soon as the world ended, she and her son were locked up by her husband. But they were not the only ones who were trapped on that floor; many other men came to stay on that floor after locking up the doors. Neither of them went down to hunt the zombies, nor did they try to look for supplies. The eyes of those men had glided down and up her body many times.
It was just that it was the beginning of the end of the world, and there was still a bottom line. Thus, no one dared to cause any trouble for her. But Jiang Haidai was really sensitive and could see that the intentions of those men were only getting even more dangerous with each passing day. She had mentioned this matter to Master Jiang, who had trapped her and made her his second wife. But that man was only worried about how to get his hands on the next bite of food.
Thus, he didn’t even care about what Jiang Haidai kept telling him.
At first, she didn’t notice anything, but after a few days, Jiang Haidai sensed that her husband was looking at her with a weird look in his eyes. Back then, she didn’t understand what the man was trying to do or what he was thinking, but once she broke free of his restraints, she realised that the man was actually thinking of selling her to the other men in the building. She was not his official wife, just someone who shared the responsibility of giving birth to his children.
The reason why she never thought about it too deeply was that she knew that if she started thinking about all these things, she would be so angry that she would die due to her anger.
Perhaps this was the reason why she was able to gather the courage to break free from that man and never look back. These last months, she had never, not even once, thought about Meng Guo’s father.
"See?" Bai Meiyue spoke up when she saw that neither of the two women was speaking. She leaned back on her chair and stated in a quiet and collected voice, "If I hadn’t saved you two, there is a very good chance that you might not even get a chance to escape the tragedy that was waiting for you two. One of you would have turned into a zombie, and if not, something worse. You might have faced the same fate," she glanced at Jiang Haidai. "You were lucky that I saved you. But the same couldn’t be said for Xu Yiyi. She didn’t get the chance to be saved."
Bai Meiyue looked at the two women who didn’t seem to understand what she was trying to tell them. She didn’t even blame them because Tong Huan and Jiang Haidai didn’t go through the same pain as Xu Yiyi, and those who hadn’t faced that kind of desperation would never be able to understand the pain of those who have suffered from it. The two of them were lucky enough to escape the tragedies before they struck, but Xu Yiyi was not as lucky; she had to go through the pain bit by bit before she turned completely numb.
Jiang Haidai could understand a little, as she went through something similar. But she, too, had a choice. Back then, Bai Meiyue gave her a choice and that choice helped Jiang Haidai.
However, Xu Yiyi was different, as she didn’t have any choice from the beginning. She only had one option, and that was to go through the pain.
"But why stay on the same path now that they had been given another choice?" Tong Huan asked with a frown. "Now that they have a good place to stay and many other options to choose from, why are they still lowering themselves and sleeping with other men?"
