CHAPTER 672: A PLATOON OF BODYGUARD (II)

Lei Qian could see through such a despicable trick with a single glance. On the surface, Dacheng had left an escape route for himself and the rest of the ability users who were under him, but in truth, he was actually leaving a way out for Yu Miaomiao to escape. With Yu Miaomiao heading in their direction, Lei Qian and Bai Meiyue would have no other choice but to make a move.

Dacheng had thought these things quite carefully, and even when he was forcing one’s hand, he didn’t make it look like he was doing it.

Yu Miaomiao was a prideful woman; she would never be able to accept the defeat that she had suffered at the hands of her own former subordinates. "I have no idea where this man gets his confidence from, but I have to admit that he is really good. He thinks that he can force not only Yu Miaomiao out of the safe base, but he can also make us do the dirty work for him." He pursed his lips and tapped the edges of the map. "Not like he is not wrong; if Yu Miaomiao heads over to our safe base, then we will have to kill her no matter what."

"Then I will go with you."

Bai Meiyue spoke up at once; she didn’t want Lei Qian to take the risks alone, but the man shook his head. "There is no point; even if you come with us, then Yu Miaomiao would only target you. We will have to focus on keeping you safe rather than killing her. If you stay at home, at least we will be able to put our minds on the task without worrying."

"He is right," Bai Zhan agreed with Lei Qian. He believed that what Lei Qian was saying was indeed making sense. If Bai Meiyue came with them, then that woman would definitely target her. It was better to leave Bai Meiyue in the mansion such that she and the child would be safe.

Everyone made the unanimous decision for Bai Meiyue and didn’t even let her say a word before turning around on their feet and heading out of the mansion. Bai Meiyue could only watch them leave with a frown on her face. It seemed like they were really not going to take her away with them. She pursed her lips, looking a bit upset but —

A kick to her stomach woke her out of her daze. She looked down at her belly and smiled softly. "What’s the matter? Are you telling Momma that you don’t want to fight? Then mommy won’t fight." She softly cooed at her son before raising her head and looking in the direction in which Lei Qian and the rest had left. She knew that they were strong, but at the same time, she was worried about Lei Qian and everyone else. She hoped that they wouldn’t run into trouble that they might not be able to clear up.

Sighing, she turned on her feet and then headed back inside the mansion.

The next morning, no one questioned the sudden disappearance of Lei Qian and the special guards who followed him. Everyone knew that something was happening. What? They had no idea about it, but something was indeed happening. The disappearance of the special team placed a kind of worry in the hearts of everyone in the safe base as they looked at the entrance many times, as if they were worried that someone would come bursting past those gates and kill them all one by one.

At noon, however, people could no longer hold on and returned to their mansion in the cooling air of the air conditioner.

Even those who were working hard to build the walls were asked to return. If even a single person ended up getting heat stroke, then they all would be in grave trouble. Someone might even die.

"You want the meal to be delivered now?" Bai Meiyue picked up the phone and questioned the woman with a frown. She looked at the time and was stunned when she saw that it was barely eleven in the morning.

"Yes," Xu Yiyi replied in the same haughty tone. Bai Meiyue could almost imagine the woman studying her nails and speaking on the phone. "The afternoon sun is too hot and we cannot eat anything with the temperature rising so high. So you ask someone to drive—" She paused and added, "In fact, it will be better if you come here on your own. There is something that I want to talk to you about."

Bai Meiyue knew that there must be something important, or else the woman wouldn’t have bothered to call her. She sighed and slowly got to her feet before agreeing with Xu Yiyi. However, as soon as she stepped out of the house, Xiao Wu materialised next to her. He appeared so fast that she didn’t even see him. Turning her head around, she looked at the man with some shock in her eyes. "What do you think you are doing?"

"Are you going somewhere, Boss? If so, then you need to take me too." Xiao Wu smiled at Bai Meiyue with an apologetic look in his eyes. "Master Lei told me that you cannot leave without protection, Miss Bai. So I will follow along with you." Xiao Wu spoke to her flatteringly, and Bai Meiyue arched a brow. "Let me ask you something—are you the only one?"

The last thing she wanted was a platoon of bodyguards going along with her.
