Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator
Chapter 43 Tragic! The City of No Night Battle
CHAPTER 43: CHAPTER 43 TRAGIC! THE CITY OF NO NIGHT BATTLE
"It seems I’ve stirred up a hornet’s nest. Is this ever going to end?"
Even through the simulator, Chen Pingchuan could feel the irritation. How could a normal person handle all these sudden shocks? But why was it a woman’s voice and not a man’s? Where did the poker-faced guy and Big Beard go?
Chen Pingchuan temporarily paused the simulation, wearily rubbing his temples. Although his attributes were fully replenished in the simulation, he was still in a weakened state in reality. This condition would persist until the current simulation ended. Intense waves of dizziness occasionally assaulted his brain.
Chen Pingchuan got up and brewed a cup of violet tea. After taking a couple of sips, he felt his Spirit slightly revive. Only then did he return to the simulation with undivided attention.
"Alright, let’s see which bastard showed up this time."
[Following the voice, you saw a young woman appear in your field of view. She had a straight, poised posture and flowing hair, and was clad in blood-red metal armor with a sharp red blade hanging at her right waist.]
[Based on her appearance alone, she looked very young. But keeping in mind the power of the family behind Xia Qingxue, you didn’t dare to underestimate the newcomer’s strength.]
[You gently set Xia Qingxue down, your hand stealthily reaching for your waist. You still had three doses of the dementia agent left. With no lab equipment, this had become your final trump card.]
[Xia Qingxue didn’t notice your movement. She called out, "Li Sanhua!" and then shot forward like the wind, rushing into the other woman’s arms. The two of them embraced right in front of you.]
[Seeing this, you lowered your guard slightly, guessing the newcomer was probably not an enemy.]
[Just as you were relaxing your guard, a deafening explosion erupted outside the room.]
[The tremendous sound startled the two from their embrace. The girl in red armor looked panicked. She hurriedly pushed Xia Qingxue away and anxiously told you both to follow her, insisting that if you didn’t run now, it would be too late.]
[Her words had barely faded when a new sound came from outside the building.]
["Hongkai’Er, are you planning to betray the Celestial Palace?"]
[As the man’s voice faded, the southern wall of the house collapsed with a roar, revealing the scene outside.]
[You were stunned by the scene before your eyes!]
[Above the City of No Night, the sky was blotted out by an iron-gray shadow. Massive mechanical battleships, like ancient beasts, hung in the air, surrounded by hundreds of flying craft armed with electromagnetic pulse weapons.]
[The battleships’ surfaces were studded with innumerable scale-like glowing crystals. Dense arrays of laser cannons fired relentlessly, striking down the Genetic Warriors who were trying to assault the ships.]
[On the ground below, screams echoed everywhere. Squads of gray Mechanical Men methodically slaughtered every life form picked up by their infrared sensors. Any Genetic Warriors who appeared were swiftly swarmed and neutralized by stronger, canine-like mechanical units.]
[The entire city had become a hell on earth, with corpses piled everywhere and rivers of blood flowing through the streets.]
Chen Pingchuan’s face turned grim. "Even the City of No Night can’t stop an invasion from the Celestial Palace? The most important thing is that they didn’t even consider negotiating. They went straight for the most direct method: destruction."
"These people... no, they aren’t people at all. Mechanical life forms truly are cold-blooded."
At this moment, Chen Pingchuan already had a feeling that the end of this simulation was fast approaching.
Moreover, they had chosen their timing so perfectly that he wouldn’t even have a chance for the Red Rain to fall, let alone time to cultivate the King of Black Magic.
The only unknown now was how his simulated self would react.
[As you were mesmerized by the terrible beauty of the destruction, the familiar male voice rang out again, clearly coming from the one who had just destroyed the wall.]
[You looked toward the voice and the opponent’s image leaped into your vision, a look of surprise crossing your face.]
[Before you stood a silver Mecha, brimming with technological and mechanical aesthetics. It was approximately fifteen meters tall and had an incredibly cool design.]
[Display simulated image?]
Chen Pingchuan was no longer surprised by new system functions. He only thought for three seconds before making his decision. After all, it’s free to look. It’d be a waste not to.
"Display."
[Miniature Mecha: A silver, matte-finish metallic exterior. Its left hand tightly grips a giant, cool-toned longsword, while its right arm is equipped with a small cannon. The joints are connected by thick sensor cables, and its lower body is supported by black caterpillar tracks.]
[Through the glass hatch at the front of the head unit, you can clearly see the human pilot in the cockpit.]
"Fifteen meters tall and you call it ’miniature’? Do you have some kind of misunderstanding of the word?"
Sometimes, Chen Pingchuan was rendered utterly speechless by the simulator’s quirks. It could seem incredibly intelligent one moment, and completely idiotic the next.
Sensing that the tea had cooled to the perfect temperature, he downed the entire cup in one heroic gulp.
"Continue."
[The man inside the Mecha loudly berated the girl in red armor. "Hongkai’Er, stop being delusional! You know how the Celestial Palace deals with traitors. Do you want to taste what it’s like to be exiled to Dark Hell for all eternity?"]
[His voice clearly trembled when he mentioned Dark Hell, and even you could sense his terror. As for Hongkai’Er, she was shivering uncontrollably, a clear sign that she knew just how cruel that punishment was.]
[Just as you were about to speak, Xia Qingxue, who had been silent all this time, unexpectedly stepped forward. She moved swiftly to stand before the massive Mecha, her usual demeanor gone, replaced by a noble and icy expression.]
[She began to sternly berate the man in the Mecha’s cockpit, and he was so frightened that he didn’t dare to talk back.]
[Xia Qingxue’s words were cold, arrogant, and full of authority. "You fear the Palace Master of the Celestial Palace, but you don’t fear me?" she said. "You should know what kind of status I will have when I return. At that time, deciding the fate of your family will be as simple as me saying the word."]
[The man was so stunned by Xia Qingxue’s aura that he was left speechless. Not only that, but even the combat Mechanical Men standing behind him became completely still the moment their scanners locked onto her.]
"Wow, is my girlfriend really that intimidating?"
To be honest, ever since meeting Xia Qingxue, Chen Pingchuan had never seen her lose her temper. Granted, they had only known each other for a short time, but through all these simulations, she had always given him the impression of a shy girl-next-door... or at most, a somewhat willful and playful heiress from a rich family.
Just as Chen Pingchuan was beginning to feel that there was hope for survival in this simulation, the situation took a sudden turn.
[A series of thunderous booms echoed from the sky, drawing everyone’s attention upward.]
[You looked up, straining your eyes to see the battle in the sky. The once-chaotic and fierce battlefield was now completely one-sided.]
[There was only one reason for this change: a man had emerged from the mechanical battleship. With no visible sign of propulsion, he simply floated in mid-air. With every swing of his weapon, a brilliant white light flashed, and everything in its path was annihilated.]
[This man was none other than your brother-in-law: Mechanical, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.]
[As you and Xia Qingxue looked up at him, he spared a moment to glance down in your direction. Both of your hearts lurched in alarm. You had been spotted.]
