Ascension of Chaos
Chapter 208 B2 | 56
Ashley
When I enter the mausoleum, I quickly find myself going underground in it. Where I see undead for days. All of which can only be killed in one of two ways.
Death magic or magic that completely destroys their bodies or souls like destruction or soul magic.
So I just kill them all with my Gaze as always. Meanwhile I make sure to test out my new regeneration skill that I got from the boss of the last Domain.
That time regeneration one.
And it's quite an interesting skill.
Whenever I take damage, the damage is regenerated at a visible albeit not too fast pace. And the specific type of regeneration is like time is reversing on my body. Rather than healing.
Overall, it's far stronger than any other regeneration skill I've gotten until now. And it isn't affected by poison since it's time based.
So I'm quite happy with this new skill.
I continue moving through the mausoleum underground while killing the undead I find along the way. All without taking my hands from my pockets.
And whenever any undead gets too close, I just slap them with my wings, sending them flying to the other side of the room. Even if that doesn't really do any damage to them.
Meanwhile any time they actually strike my wings as I'm doing this just spills Chaos' blood onto them. Mutating the undead in the process.
I tilt my head a little at the sight of the undead mutating.
This is actually kind of interesting to see.
Undead mutating, that is.
I didn't even think about the fact that they could mutate. Seeing as they're undead and all.
The fact that these undead are mutating means Chaos' blood is even more unique than I thought. Since something chemical like that normally wouldn't have any effect on an undead.
"My blood is everything," Chaos says in response to my thoughts. "Magical, energy, every single element, chemical, you name it, my blood has it."
Huh.
Then again, I guess he is Chaos after all.
"There isn't a thing in existence that is unaffected by my blood," Chaos declares with more than a little pride in his voice. Making me glance at the stone of the mausoleum walls and floor that are getting some blood on them as well.
Stone that is also mutating. Turning into random objects in the process.
Everything is affected by Chaos.
Interesting to think about.
Anyway, I continue moving through the mausoleum one corridor after another. And after a while, I eventually begin to find mummies and the like in coffins and in little cubbies on the walls.
Where more undead monsters begin to crawl out of before attacking me.
And just like the other monsters, I kill them in the same way.
I use my Gaze to destroy them entirely while attacking them with my wings and occasionally bleeding on them with said wings. Mutating them in a way that makes them unable to move towards me as I kill them with my Gaze.

And for the ones that do actually reach me, I take my hands from my pockets and rip apart with my bare claws. Following which I deal with them through my Gaze while they're missing more than a few limbs.
So far these Domains have been nothing more than annoying.
Not difficult. Not dangerous.
But just plain annoying.
Except for the boss of the last Domain, that is.
On that note though, I begin to wonder just what the boss of this Domain is like. Since all the mission says is that it's a Gravekeeper.
But the Gravekeeper could be anything.
The only thing I know for sure is that they're most likely undead.
Hmm…
Well, on another note, thanks to all these undead, I've gotten high-stage death mana manipulation. And on top of that, I've even gotten some necromancy skills.
So I can create undead and control them now.
Although I'm not skilled enough in death magic to kill the undead here with death magic. Leaving me only able to kill them with time magic and destruction magic.
Even my time magic isn't very good at killing them though.
I technically have soul magic that can kill them too, but I'm not skilled enough in it to do much of anything either.
Most importantly though, I don't really have the mana to do anything with magic to them. And I need to save up mana more than anything while here.
So brute force physical strength and my Gaze work perfectly fine for me.
With that in mind I continue to slaughter the undead one by one. And when the ones capable of infecting others, turning them into undead, try to turn me, they fail miserably. All because I have plenty of skills stopping a transformation like that.
Not to mention Chaos' blood not allowing that.
Whenever the infection reaches my wings it just gets infected itself and mutates back into my own blood.
So I admit that I grow a little careless while going through the Domain. Long past the minimum time to survive in it based on the mission.
And at this point I've recovered all of my mana and energy. Which is very nice.
One undead after another, I keep pushing my way through the mausoleum. Or rather, the catacombs. Since that's what these are at this point.
But days turn into weeks. And during this time I begin to wonder just how many undead there are in this Domain.
To which Chaos answers, "A lot. Hel set this Domain up as an endurance Domain. So most people just give up long before getting to the end of the catacombs, in the end decreasing their total score."
That's just annoying.
"It's how Hel is," Chaos says, sounding like he's shrugging as he does so. "Hel is completely emotionless and has no concept of time or any other valuable in her mind. And she believes the greatest way to test someone is to test their weaknesses. Patience and mortality."
It's still annoying.
Well, at least I know I'm not stuck in some sort of illusion. And that I don't have to do something specific to break through this part of the Domain.
I just have to keep killing the undead.
Or unkilling them?
Destroying them.
More time passes, and after two days, something finally changes. The moment I clear another chamber of undead, the entire catacombs begins to tremble. Following which the walls begin to morph as everything is covered in miasma.
Then I find the entire catacombs changing through the misty miasma.
Turning into a large cavern with a tunnel visible at the other end and pools of purplish black liquid.
Clearly miasma in liquid form.
As for the undead in this place? I see them all beginning to step out of the pools of miasma.
The undead look like knights in pitch black armor without any skin visible. And under their visors, all I can see is a black fog along with glowing crimson eyes.
I watch them march out like some sort of knightly order in a grand looking formation. One where they're all walking in some sort of grid with their hands gripping a single sword in front of them held parallel with their body.
Looks fancy.
Out of curiosity, I use my Gaze to target one of their helmets. Just to see if there's anything behind their helmets. But nothing appears.
The only thing behind the helmet is black mist and glowing crimson eyes.
Hmm.
I go ahead and identify the undead knights.
♢ Level 375 Death Knight – 2021 Potential Skills – X ♢
Looks like they're stronger than the death spirit type undead before now.
I cross my arms in beneath my chest while tapping my finger on my elbow for a few seconds, only to give a light nod and finally begin attacking them. Or rather, testing them.
First up I try to use my Gaze on the eyes of the one whose helmet I destroyed. Making some sort of hole appear in the mist of their head.
But the death knight just continues marching along despite the injury.
After that I begin destroying one part of its armor after another. Revealing that same black mist beneath the armor.
I guess these things don't have actual flesh and blood.
Let's see how much of this black mist I need to destroy to finish these death knights off.
I just hope I don't have to bother with destroying all the mist to destroy them…
