Xiang Yuan furrowed his brows again, then quickly relaxed: "Uh, this is the first time I’m hearing about this anecdote. It was given by a client I represented. I won a case for him, saving him a large sum of money. He gifted me this wine; since it wasn’t very famous, I thought it wasn’t worth much."

Tang Yanqing chuckled softly while swirling her glass: "Another rich merchant’s divorce case, right? The money the merchant saved from his wife ended up in your pocket."

Xiang Yuan didn’t shy away, shrugged with a smile: "That’s right, divorce cases indeed make the most money." He clinked glasses with Tang Yanqing: "I must thank your father, Uncle Tang, for guiding me. He is my mentor and led me down this path."

As the most profitable Chinese lawyer in this state, Tang Mingyi indeed handled many divorce cases for wealthy Chinese merchants, from which he gained substantially. This is something Tang Yanqing could never erase, and it’s why her brother Tang Yanxi refused to inherit their father’s law firm and chose to do unpaid legal aid work instead.

Tang Yanqing sipped her wine slowly: "While running ’Tang Chengliu Law Firm’, Dad also established Tang Dynasty. He gave Tang Dynasty the use of prime real estate in the city for free... Xiang Yuan, don’t know when you’ll learn from Dad?"
