Aura Revival: I Built Harem In Fantasy World
Chapter 52: Uroboros
CHAPTER 52: UROBOROS
When Jennifer left the Everleigh family, she had raised Jameson for two years and Sarah for less than a few days.
At that time, she hated James so intensely that her hatred extended to the Everleigh siblings, James’s offspring. Therefore, when she left, she felt no attachment whatsoever.
Seventeen years have passed, and Jennifer’s mindset has become much more balanced. She can now recognize that the children are innocent.
A few days ago, she finally emerged from seclusion after breaking through to the Heaven rank, only to discover that her son had died unexpectedly.
What surprised Jennifer was that she did not feel much sorrow over this, because she had very little emotional connection to the son she had not seen for seventeen years.
If this was how she felt about Jameson, then it was natural that she had no feelings for Sarah, who was practically a stranger to her.
Although she came to protect Sarah immediately after hearing that Sarah had left the academy for the Scafell Mountains, when Sarah suddenly approached her, she instinctively pushed her away.
After pushing her away, Jennifer naturally realized it was inappropriate, but the damage was already done. She had no choice but to softly comfort her and agree to talk in detail after returning, hoping to repair their mother-daughter relationship.
Sarah quickly regained her usual expression, but the last bit of hope she held for Jennifer was shattered.
She gently bit her lip and, as if nothing had happened, introduced everyone present to Jennifer. When she finally introduced Lucas, Jennifer, who had maintained a gentle expression until then, immediately turned cold.
Lucas greeted her politely, and Jennifer responded by slapping him hard across the face with the back of her hand.
"That slap was meant for the Everleigh Family," Jennifer said coldly.
"Things were rushed back then, and I didn’t have time to settle accounts with him. Now that you will become next head, it’s only natural for you to take the blame."
Feeling the burning pain on his right cheek, Lucas was furious and confused.
Being slapped in front of his four little sex slaves cost him all his dignity.
If he could not retaliate, not only would his authority as a master be completely lost, but the results of his training so far would also be jeopardized.
Lucas glanced at the girls’ reactions. Except for Blanche, who remained expressionless, Celes and Carmena were clearly struggling to hold back their laughter. Only Sarah wore a slightly worried expression.
He desperately wanted to capture Jennifer immediately, but wizards above the tenth rank possess their own protective mana, making them impervious to ordinary swords and blades. Drawing their blood would be extremely difficult.
Moreover, Jennifer is Sarah’s biological mother. Even though their relationship seems strained, Sarah might not be willing to drag her mother into this.
Lucas thought it over and decided to keep smiling for now.
"What?" Jennifer was puzzled by Lucas’s smile and silence after being hit. "Do you have nothing to say?"
Lucas shook his head: "I still have important matters to attend to."
His implication was that he could not be bothered to deal with Jennifer, who was not focusing on the task at hand.
This condescending attitude infuriated Jennifer. Seeing this, Sarah hurried forward, grabbed Jennifer’s sleeve, and explained the current situation to her.
After hearing this, Jennifer turned her gaze to the pile of rubble.
"All of you, get behind me."
Everyone obediently stood behind Jennifer. She channeled her true energy and gently swung the sword in her hand. A surge of sword energy, radiant with light, slashed toward the pile of rubble, causing a sound of exploding rocks.
After the dust settled, Lucas was surprised to see a path split open through the rubble, revealing a cave tall enough for a person to enter.
This was the first time Lucas had seen a high-level wizard take action since his transmigration. A Heaven-rank wizard could split a path with a mere wave of her hand, which greatly heightened Lucas’s caution.
He warned himself to proceed carefully.
Led by Jennifer, everyone entered the cave.
The cave was not long, and after turning two corners, they reached the end.
A bonfire burned at the foot of the mountain wall, illuminating everything inside the cave.
In the corner, the body of a tall young man was preserved by magic, completely uncorrupted.
Even though he had only seen a photo, Lucas immediately recognized it as Jameson.
Upon seeing Jameson’s body, Sarah and her mother, along with his girlfriend Blanche, did not rush forward excitedly, because another young man was sitting by the bonfire. He had a monstrous appearance, with a green face and fang-like teeth, looking particularly terrifying in the flickering firelight.
"Humans..." the monstrous young man laughed, "so many humans have come. Now that guy won’t have to worry about going hungry..."
Jennifer motioned for everyone to step back, her gleaming sword already filled with true energy. "Who are you?"
"Human? I am no lowly human." The monstrous young man’s pale green eyes scrutinized Jennifer a few times. "You’re not bad, strong enough to be worthy of knowing my name."
He stood up and stretched. "In the past, humans called me Uroboros. I wonder if people today still remember me?"
"Uroboros, one of the four ancient ferocious beasts." Jennifer could not believe it. "It is said you were executed for angering the Goddess of Marriage."
"Not executed, but sealed." Uroboros shook his head. "Some time ago, for some reason, my seal was broken. I slept for a long time and woke up feeling very hungry, craving meat."
He walked over to Jameson’s body, squatted down, and said with longing, "I’ve eaten many kinds of meat, but my favorite is human flesh. Do you know? Human flesh doesn’t have the best flavor, but it is the most satisfying to eat."
Lucas quickly understood that the sudden fluctuation of spiritual energy in the Scafell Mountains was most likely due to the awakening of this ancient ferocious beast that loved to devour human flesh.
But what was strange was that Jameson’s body had been in his possession for a long time, yet it remained intact, with no signs of having been eaten.
Jennifer obviously had the same question in mind: "Really? Then why haven’t you eaten him?"
"As you humans say, happiness is better when shared. I was waiting for an old acquaintance to come and enjoy it with me." Uroboros stood up and looked at Lucas and the others with a deadly gaze.
"But it seems that won’t be necessary now. The supply of human flesh is sufficient, so I might as well have a meal first."
Jennifer faced Uroboros and retreated step by step.
She considered letting Sarah and the others drive away first while she alone battled the ferocious beast. If she could not defeat it, she could seize the opportunity to escape.
Lucas understood her intention and quickly waved his hand, fleeing with the girls.
For every step Jennifer took back, Uroboros took a step forward, but he always maintained the initial distance because he did not want to destroy the cave where he was temporarily residing.
When everyone emerged from the cave, Jennifer shook her sword, and overwhelming sword energy attacked Uroboros like a tidal wave. The latter roared to the sky, revealing his ferocious form, using his own body as a weapon and colliding with the sword energy amidst surging spiritual power.
Instantly, the mountain shook, and rocks flew everywhere.
