CHAPTER 186: CHAPTER 186: HOIST WITH ONE’S OWN PETARD
Tian Xiang still believed strongly in her sixth sense.
After all, she was the leading lady, blessed with luck and the ability to sense danger.
She stood in the lounge for a while, and Pang Meiqi came in after finishing her shoot. She glanced at Tian Xiang, then at the staff clearing the glue, but said nothing before turning around with two assistants to head to the dressing room.
Sister Pang was really aloof, not even bothering to share a room with her.
Tian Xiang chuckled, slung her bag over her shoulder, and followed them to the dressing room.
Tonight’s scenes were filmed in the production workshop, with the dressing room located near the office, roughly three minutes away.
The group proceeded one after another, but midway, they heard Chang Wan’s terrified scream.
Tian Xiang paused in her steps.
Up ahead, Pang Meiqi and her group stopped as well.
Everyone exchanged bewildered glances.
Just then, a staff member, having heard the commotion, hurried over, with Lu Feng leading the way.
He had come again today, helping out the crew.
Once a lot of people rushed over there, only then did Tian Xiang and the rest continue forward.
They were stopped before they reached their destination when a staff member informed them there was an incident at the dressing room, advising them not to proceed for the moment.
Tian Xiang stood to the side without moving.
She was now certain that the night’s event was aimed at her, but she had been wary and didn’t rush over, and now somehow, it had affected Chang Wan.
Tian Xiang had an expression eager for gossip.
A few steps away, Pang Meiqi’s group also stood still, their curiosity only growing.
Soon after, the security department dragged someone out, and the chaos gradually calmed down.
About ten minutes passed before someone came to inform them that everything was alright.
Tian Xiang followed Pang Meiqi and the others to the dressing room arranged for them by the crew.
Due to their important roles, they had frequent costume changes, so the crew set up a separate small room just for the two of them, although they shared it, it was apart from the larger dressing room, one was on the left, the other on the right, with different entrances.
While entering, Tian Xiang asked the young lady from the crew who brought them over, "What happened there just now?"
The sound came from that side; evidently, Chang Wan had gotten glue on herself and ran into trouble while changing clothes.
The young lady was reluctant to talk, but considering the magnitude of the incident, sooner or later, everyone would know, so she replied, "There was a thief hiding in the dressing room, and they’ve caught him."
A thief hiding in the dressing room?
The brief information raised countless suspicions.
Tian Xiang blinked her bright eyes and quickly went to change clothes.
Once she finished tidying up and came out, Pang Meiqi and the others were already gone, leaving only the young lady from the crew waiting for her.
Tian Xiang carried her belongings to the front and saw Chang Wan and Lu Feng, along with the furious Qin Rui.
Qin Rui pointed angrily at Liu Jun, furiously not knowing what she was scolding about, and soon left with Chang Wan as more people gathered around.
Chang Wan kept her head down the entire time, wiping tears, clearly deeply affected by the incident earlier.
After such an event occurring at the filming location, subsequent work couldn’t proceed; the crew gave everyone a break, telling them to go back to rest, and they’d notify about the next shoot.
Tian Xiang was given a ride back to the Military and Political Institute by the crew.
The old man was a bit surprised to see her return early.
Not knowing how to explain, as she herself wasn’t sure what happened, Tian Xiang simply said there was a thief in the crew.
The old man: "A thief? What does that mean?"
Tian Xiang shook her head, finding it difficult to discuss.
The old man didn’t ask more, but the next day, after returning from work, he specifically warned Tian Xiang not to go out alone and told Meng Zhi not to take Tian Xiang on random outings, suggesting they stay in the courtyard.
During Meng Cheng’an’s absence, the old man had called his youngest daughter back to keep his granddaughter-in-law company.
Meng Zhi was not happy about being confined to the courtyard. Soon enough, she had inquired about Chang Wan’s incident from the neighbors, coming back with fear to chat gossip with Tian Xiang.
Apparently, Chang Wan was nearly assaulted while changing clothes in the dressing room; no one knew how long the person had been hiding there, but Chang Wan encountered him.
Luckily, someone rushed in right after she screamed, rescuing her. Although nothing happened, the fright was unavoidable.
An incident in the dressing room like that, even if ultimately saved, involves unavoidable contact.
It was reported that Chang Wan was so traumatized that she was hospitalized and hadn’t come out yet.
While speaking, Meng Zhi kept clutching her chest, goosebumps visible on her arms, with concern evident for Tian Xiang.
Considering her niece-in-law was more beautiful and famous than Chang Wan, she was more likely a target.
Tian Xiang was surprised at how detailed her aunt knew about the matter but quickly realized it might have been the Liao family from building three opposite who revealed it.
The Liao family had a son who was a captain in the criminal police brigade.
Such matters were usually confidential, but things were different when Meng Zhi asked them.
Tian Xiang felt a chill after hearing it all.
She was sure that day’s incident was meant for her; how did it end up happening to Chang Wan instead?
The two dressing rooms were a distance apart; why wasn’t the person in her room but in the other?
Tian Xiang couldn’t make sense of it and decided to stop pondering, instead enjoying her winter vacation.
Meanwhile, not far from the Military and Political Institute at the People’s Hospital.
An investigator was back to inquire about the details of Chang Wan’s incident.
The suspect was caught on the spot and confessed to everything.
Current insights indicate it was merely an accident; the suspect, taking advantage of the security department’s negligence, sneaked in, went to the dressing room, and hid inside, waiting for a chance.
Chang Wan happened upon him due to pure bad luck.
The investigator informed about the case and asked Chang Wan if she had any different opinions or clues.
Chang Wan shook her head with red-rimmed eyes.
The investigator asked several more questions, but seeing nothing could be elicited, he left.
Qin Rui entered, seeing her daughter wiping tears again, she comforted her, "It’s all over, try to forget about it quickly."
It would’ve been better not to mention it; once brought up, Chang Wan began sobbing again.
"Mom, I, I..."
Chang Wan didn’t know how to discuss the matter, wondering how things turned out this way, how it could...
The person was supposed to head to the small dressing room, so why was he in her space? The two dressing rooms weren’t adjacent, separated by a long corridor.
Chang Wan felt something was wrong, certain someone had set her up.
But who could have done this?
Chang Wan didn’t know, nor did she dare to reveal the truth to the investigator.
Because it was actually herself and Lu Feng who conspired to let the person in, intending to frame Tian Xiang.
If she revealed the truth, it would not only anger the Meng Family but also make her a laughingstock in the institute.
An attempted harm backfired instead.
