Chapter 197: Born
CHAPTER 197: CHAPTER 197: BORN
Regarding the postpartum period, Tian Xiang didn’t mind much. When she returned to her parents’ home during the New Year, Hu Honglian had already said she would come over to take care of the postpartum period after the birth.
However, Wei Xiaoman insisted on coming, and Tian Xiang said nothing, thinking that if she wanted to be busy, she could be busy.
This time, after Meng Zhi came back, she didn’t leave, saying she wanted to witness the birth of her little grandnephew.
As the baby’s birth approached, Tian Xiang went shopping a few times and prepared some things.
Each time she wore a hat and mask, but gradually, she realized that it didn’t matter if she didn’t wear them.
In less than a year, she seemed to have been forgotten by everyone.
That day, after returning from the mall, Tian Xiang didn’t even look at her favorite novels and stayed sulking in her room all afternoon, barely eating dinner.
At around nine in the evening, Meng Cheng’an returned from outside carrying a bag, and Mr. Meng was sitting on the sofa waiting for him.
"Why are you late again? Didn’t you say you would come back earlier to accompany Xiangxiang?"
Meng Cheng’an: "Sorry, Grandpa, I’ll come back right after work tomorrow."
With his wife about to give birth soon, Meng Cheng’an wanted to finish his work and accompany her for the postpartum period for two weeks.
Mr. Meng knew how busy his grandson was and didn’t say much more.
"By the way, Xiangxiang came back from the mall with Xiao Zhi today, and she seemed a bit unhappy; she didn’t eat much tonight. You should check on her."
Meng Cheng’an nodded, took his bag, and went back to the room.
Tian Xiang was already lying in bed, but she wasn’t asleep; rather, she was watching TV.
After getting pregnant, to make things convenient for her, they had put a TV in the room.
Tonight, Tian Xiang was not watching her favorite Hong Kong drama but rather a new movie by Chang Wan.
She previously didn’t like watching Chang Wan’s works, feeling her acting was unnatural and always finding fault with her.
But today, her mood felt different.
At least Chang Wan was out there, getting more famous.
And as for Tian Xiang herself, she was about to be forgotten.
Seeing Meng Cheng’an come back, Tian Xiang turned her head and smiled at him, "Why are you late today as well? Tired?"
Meng Cheng’an didn’t speak but looked at Tian Xiang intently for two seconds before kneeling down in front of the bed, pulling her hand to his lips for a kiss.
Tian Xiang: "What’s wrong?"
Meng Cheng’an remained silent.
In fact, he really wanted to ask Tian Xiang what was wrong, but he couldn’t bring himself to ask; he understood everything she felt inside.
After a while, Meng Cheng’an said, "I’ll go take a shower."
"Okay."
When Meng Cheng’an left, Tian Xiang sighed, switched the television channel to her favorite program, and fell asleep after watching for only a short while.
After showering, Meng Cheng’an returned to the room, tucked in his wife, turned off the TV, and quietly closed the door as he went outside.
Mr. Meng was not yet asleep; the elderly sleep less.
Seeing his grandson come out, he asked, "What are you doing?"
Meng Cheng’an didn’t rush to speak, first sitting with him on the sofa for a while.
Mr. Meng remarked, "Why are you still dawdling?"
Meng Cheng’an: "I want to open another factory."
Mr. Meng frowned, "Aren’t you busy enough already? Put work aside for now. Talk about it after Xiangxiang gives birth."
Meng Cheng’an: "I can set aside the magazine business for a while, but not this one."
Mr. Meng: "What kind of factory do you want to open?"
"A production company."
This young man wanted to open a production company!
Mr. Meng immediately understood; he wanted to pave the way for Xiangxiang’s return to work later.
"What? You’re short on money?"
Meng Cheng’an nodded.
Mr. Meng was a bit puzzled, "Haven’t you earned quite a lot these past two years?"
Especially in the last half-year, Meng Cheng’an had brought in some external copyrights, and the magazines and novels published were very popular.
Meng Cheng’an: "This time I want to take a different path, and many places require money."
Mr. Meng: "Approximately how much are you short?"
Meng Cheng’an: "I don’t know yet. It’s currently just an idea, could be hundreds, maybe thousands."
Mr. Meng was taken aback, "What are you trying to do? Why so much?"
Mr. Meng was clear that when his grandson said hundreds or thousands, he meant in tens of thousands.
Meng Cheng’an didn’t rush to speak, instead staring at the ceiling and taking a deep breath.
Mr. Meng similarly remained silent for a while before saying, "Alright, alright, as long as you’ve thought it through. I’ve just got my monthly pension, which surely can’t help you much, but among the things left by your great-grandfather and grandmother, pick a few items and let Xiao Zhi take them outside to find a buyer. After all, they’ve been designated for you; if you need them now, take them and use them ahead of time."
Meng Cheng’an: "Thank you, Grandpa."
In the following days, Meng Cheng’an tried his best to stay home with Tian Xiang, only going on a business trip once.
By late May, Tian Xiang’s due date was approaching, and Hu Honglian and Tian Weibing also came from home in advance to take care of their daughter’s postpartum period.
The two-story house of the Meng Family became lively once again.
With her mother by her side, Tian Xiang was relatively okay, not too nervous.
Apart from some intense initial reactions, the pregnancy went smoothly for Tian Xiang. She even exercised regularly, and the baby was of average size, not too big, and in the right position.
Tian Xiang went into labor two days after her due date; it was in the middle of the night when she felt something was wrong and called Meng Cheng’an up.
Upon hearing his wife’s stomach was hurting, Meng Cheng’an’s expression changed; he quickly dressed and went to knock on the door of the next room.
Hu Honglian quickly came out, inquired about her daughter’s situation, and told her not to worry, to stay calm, as the first birth wasn’t that fast.
Tian Xiang only felt some slight contractions, not too much, while Meng Cheng’an was extremely nervous, with sweat all over his face.
Everything needed for the hospital trip was already prepared, and soon, everyone upstairs and downstairs was awake, grabbing their things to head to the hospital.
The individual ward at the hospital had been booked in advance, so they could move in upon arrival. Once there, a doctor came to assess the situation and said she was only half a centimeter dilated, advising her to rest and estimating the birth would be by the next morning.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
Tian Xiang asked Meng Cheng’an to take Mr. Meng back home, so he didn’t have to endure the hospital wait.
Mr. Meng refused to leave, knowing he wouldn’t be able to sleep at home anyway, so he opted to wait there.
Seeing Mr. Meng at the hospital, they even arranged a room for him to rest, but he declined, instead calling Meng Xiu Yuan at the service desk to inform him of the situation.
Soon, Meng Xiuyuan and Wei Xiaoman also arrived at the hospital.
Tian Xiang endured from feeling abdominal pain until entering the delivery room, a total of about seven hours.
Initially, she could bear it, but later she couldn’t, crying out from the pain.
Wearing sterile clothing, Meng Cheng’an accompanied her in the delivery room, and with his encouragement, Tian Xiang exerted herself for over an hour before finally giving birth to the little one inside her belly.
At the moment the baby was born, Tian Xiang’s tense nerves instantly relaxed, leaving her mind blank for a moment.
Meng Cheng’an kissed her forehead and whispered in her ear, "It’s okay now, it’s okay now..."
The nurse carrying the crying little one brought him over for Tian Xiang to see, "It’s a boy."
Tian Xiang sighed.
Boy or girl, after tormenting her for so long, it was finally out.
