Awakening: Mage of Oblivion with SSS-Level Infinite Evolution Talent
Chapter 63: The Second Event is Here, The Tower of Divinity
CHAPTER 63: CHAPTER 63: THE SECOND EVENT IS HERE, THE TOWER OF DIVINITY
Stark woke up from that strange dream with a calm expression on his face.
Less than four hours had passed since he’d gone to sleep, but he already felt refreshed.
That was the effect of his attributes, his body and spirit recovered far faster than any normal person’s.
[Do you wish to enter "Eternal Soul"?]
[Yes] [No]
"Yes."
The world blurred.
Ding!
A moment later, Stark reappeared exactly where he had been before logging out.
’Perfect.’
He didn’t waste a single second.
He summoned the [Ghost Wolf], mounted it, and ordered it forward.
The creature sprinted through the wasteland as Stark kept his focus on one destination: the [First Ruined City].
’The others will get the announcement for the event anyway,’ he thought. ’I can’t afford to waste time searching for them. It’s going to start very soon.’
The [Ghost Wolf] dashed across the broken fields with unmatched speed, weaving around wandering monsters that tried and failed to intercept them.
Within twenty-five minutes, the massive walls of the ruined city came into sight.
Stark rode through the barrier and entered the silent streets.
From here on, all he had to do was wait.
But he still opened his interface and sent two short messages.
[Oblivion: I’d recommend coming back to the "Ruined City". Something’s coming soon.]
[Ghost: Alright.]
[Starfall: Wow... ໒(⊙ᴗ⊙)७]
That was all they needed to know.
Stark wasn’t about to give them a full explanation, they would find out soon enough.
While waiting, he didn’t stay idle.
He hunted the monsters lingering near the city’s edge, farming more Lives while keeping his attention sharp.
For thirty minutes, he repeated the routine.
And then—
Ding! Ding! Ding!
The familiar chime of a global announcement echoed in the ears of every player across the [Eternal Continent].
Stark’s hand tightened around his staff.
He unsummoned the [Ghost Wolf] and raised his eyes toward the sky.
’Here we go again.’
[The Second Event will now start!]
The entire continent erupted with chatter.
"Holy shit, another event already?"
"This is great! Maybe I can finally do better this time."
"Are you crazy? The top players are too strong, we won’t stand a chance."
But Stark already knew this wasn’t going to be a "competitive" event like the [Ghost Hunt].
This one was about survival. About strength.
Ding!
Another announcement rang.
---
[Event: Tower of Divinity — Hard Difficulty]
[Duration: 1 Week]
[The "First Calamity" is coming in 7 days.]
---
[Eternal Soul] deliberately put the [First Calamity] cooldown right below the duration of the event.
The message was clear.
The event would last one week, and the moment it ended, the [First Calamity] would arrive.
The timing wasn’t an accident, it was a warning.
The words "Hard Difficulty" glowed in crimson.
It meant the event was a rank above the [Ghost Hunt].
Everything about it would be more dangerous, more punishing, and more rewarding.
Then came the final announcement.
[The "Tower of Divinity" is now active. May the strongest climb to the top.]
Rumble!
The ground beneath Stark’s feet shook violently.
Across the entire ruined city, cracks spread like lightning bolts across the earth.
A deafening roar echoed as stone and dirt split apart.
From the gap between the [Main Land] and the [Outskirts], something massive began to rise: a tower.
It pushed upward, higher and higher, until its peak disappeared into the clouds.
Its shadow stretched across the broken streets, and the tremors finally faded when it stood in full.
[The "Tower of Divinity" has appeared.]
No matter where you were in the ruined city, you could see it.
And it wasn’t just here, Stark knew every ruined city across the continent had its own identical tower now.
The event had truly begun.
Without hesitation, Stark dashed forward.
On the way, a notification popped up.
[Player "Starfall" has sent you a private message!]
[Starfall: You were right! Me and Ghost are on the way (๑˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥)]
So they had listened. Good for them. But it wouldn’t give them much of an advantage.
The [Tower of Divinity] could be attempted alone or in groups, and rewards were individual.
No matter what, Stark would climb it solo.
Stark rushed swiftly through the city streets until the massive crowd at the base of the tower came into view.
Hundreds, maybe thousands, of players stood gathered, all staring up at the colossal entrance.
Questions and doubts filled the air.
"What level are the monsters in there? What about their rank?!"
"We don’t know, dumbass, why don’t you go in and find out?"
"I bet the [Lives loss rate] is higher inside. Not worth the risk."
Stark ignored them.
He didn’t care about their speculation or their fear.
While the crowd hesitated, he walked forward with calm, steady steps.
The moment players noticed him, the chatter fell silent.
The path cleared almost instinctively.
They couldn’t see his face thanks to the [Hide Face] feature, but they only knew one mage that was as imposing as this: Oblivion!
He marched toward the gate.
And without a word, Stark passed them and stepped into the veil of darkness that covered the tower’s entrance.
The world shifted.
A moment later, he stood inside a vast circular hall, fifty meters across.
The walls glowed faintly, and the air carried a heavy, sacred weight.
Ding!
---
[Welcome to the "Tower of Divinity."]
[Challenge each floor’s boss to receive one of the rewards tied to it. You can only receive a reward once.]
[The level of the bosses will scale to your own level, with a minimum of level 20.]
---
This was why it was recommended to at least be level 20 for this event, as otherwise you simply wouldn’t be able to fight back.
Of course, you could go in with a team, but still.
Stark’s grip on his staff tightened.
His expression was blank, calm, but inside he was already preparing for the climb.
Then five panels appeared before him, each one representing a floor.
---
[First Floor (Uncommon)]
[Second Floor (Rare)]
[Third Floor (Elite)]
[Fourth Floor (Epic)]
[Fifth Floor (Legendary)]
---
"Hm."
The rules were simple. Each floor held a boss.
To access the next, you had to defeat the current one. You couldn’t skip ahead.
For example, even if he tried to select the second floor or above, it wouldn’t let him.
The bosses’ levels would match his own, 25 in Stark’s case, but their ranks would climb with each floor.
From [Uncommon] at the start to [Legendary] at the end.
You could quit after a floor, but if you accepted the challenge of the next, retreat wasn’t an option.
Most players would struggle to reach the third or fourth floor.
Almost no one could clear the fifth.
The gap between Epic and Legendary bosses was brutal, a wall few could climb.
But Stark wasn’t most players. He was confident.
This tower was built to test strength, and he intended to reach the top.
Without hesitation, he raised his hand and selected the [First Floor (Uncommon)].
Fwish!
The world distorted again, and his body was pulled through.
Ding!
[You have arrived at the "First Floor" of the "Tower of Divinity."]
[Lives loss rate: 50]
The new chamber looked similar to the hall he had just left, but the atmosphere was heavier.
The room was vast, the stone floor cracked, and at the far end stood his opponent: the first boss.
Stark lifted his staff, eyes narrowing.
His blank face betrayed no excitement, but inside, his blood was running hot.
"Here we go."
[Tower Wolf (Level 25 Uncommon-Rank Special Boss)]
