CHAPTER 393: TEMPTING OFFERS

"Hoho, I just want to have a little talk, is that impossible, Mr. Daniel?" Selera said with a smile on her beautiful face.

Olivia sighed when she saw that gentle smile. Every time this crazy woman smiled like that, it definitely meant she was about to hunt down a prey.

Still, Olivia laughed in her heart. From her perspective, it didn’t matter what this woman offered—there was no way she could recruit this boy. Simply impossible.

"Of course." Daniel smiled back and didn’t refuse. He was curious to see what kind of offer this woman had.

Selera’s smile widened when she saw Daniel didn’t reject her. As long as he didn’t turn her down, there was definitely a chance. She sneered inside, convinced that even this boy would eventually fall into her trap.

They walked away from the palace and began strolling around the Lionheart estate. The air around them was heavy and tense.

Olivia didn’t feel comfortable in this strange atmosphere and wanted to leave, but at the same time, she was curious to see what this woman’s plan was.

"Aren’t you going to start?" Daniel said lazily.

"I was thinking about what words I should use to make my offer sound most effective." Selera sighed.

"No need to overthink it. If your proposal is good enough, it will naturally attract me, regardless of the words you use."

"Sounds reasonable. Then, simply put—if you’re willing to be my ally instead of my brother’s, I’ll give you the position of Grand Elder of the Lionheart family. After me, you’d hold the highest rank in the family."

Olivia nodded with some admiration. Her lady had started with a striking offer. But she still doubted whether this was enough.

"Interesting proposal. But isn’t that position reserved only for the direct descendants of the Lionheart family? There’s no way an outsider like me could take that rank." Daniel asked curiously.

"It’s simple. All you’d need to do is marry one of the Lionheart girls and take on our family name." Selera replied with a smile.

She had thought about this for a long time, trying to come up with something tempting enough to lure this boy, and this was the only idea she had.

She didn’t know whether Daniel had a powerful background or not, so she was gambling on her chances. If she succeeded, great. If she failed... well, there would only be one path left.

"I see. But I’ll have to refuse. Your offer is tempting, but it’s not enough. Andreas’ proposal was far better." Daniel rejected it without much thought.

Grand Elder? You must be joking. Once Andreas became patriarch of the Lionheart family, Daniel would practically control the entire family.

At that point, a simple Grand Elder title would mean nothing to him. On the contrary, he would ensure that only those he wanted would rise in power during Andreas’ leadership.

He would make sure every single Elder of the Lionheart family was someone loyal to him. So there was no way he’d agree to such an offer.

Above all else, he had given Andreas his word.

"Oh? Well, I’m a little disappointed, but I expected that." Selera sighed, her gaze falling on the bright moon. She hesitated, unsure whether to use her final card or not.

But... did she have any other choice? If she didn’t become the next leader of the family, she would never be able to take her revenge... and she refused to allow that!

She wouldn’t let those bastards who had tormented her mother live! Flames of hatred echoed in her eyes.

"If you have no other proposals, I’ll be leaving. It’s late, and I’d prefer to get some rest." Daniel said lazily, turning to walk away.

But before he could fully leave, the words that came out of Selera’s mouth completely shocked both him and Olivia.

"If... if you become my ally, I’ll help you become the Patriarch of the Lionheart family!"

Daniel, who was mid-step, froze. For a moment, he thought he had misheard. He frowned and turned back.

What he saw surprised him even more... there were tears in Selera’s eyes...?

"Young Lady, are you alright?" Olivia also noticed it and frowned. This was the first time she had ever seen tears in this woman’s eyes.

But Selera ignored her completely. Her gaze never left Daniel, from beginning to end.

"So, how?" Daniel finally spoke.

"It’s simple. As long as I marry you and become the next leader, you would naturally become Patriarch of the Lionheart family as my husband. Of course, you’d need to abandon your surname and take on the Lionheart name, and you’d have to be recognized by the ancestors."

"Still, with today’s achievement, I’m sure they would accept you." Selera explained.

Her words stunned both Olivia and Daniel again. Neither of them expected this woman to go this far. This was simply beyond all expectations.

"What’s the obsession with becoming the next leader of this family? I doubt you’d go this far, even being willing to marry a nobody, just for the sake of becoming Patriarch." Daniel asked curiously.

He was now certain this girl had some hidden reason behind her ambition. Thinking about it, he realized he knew nothing about Selera’s past—or about Tormyn and Lioran either.

Maybe it was time to investigate them a little.

"Nobody? While it’s true I have my own reasons for wanting to be the leader, it’s not like I’d marry just any nobody... I’m willing to marry you because you’re handsome, incredibly talented, powerful, and clearly have the potential to reach the peak of the world. Naturally, you’re the best candidate to be my husband." Selera explained with a frown. But when she realized what she had just said, her face flushed red.

"Oh? Thanks for the compliment." Daniel laughed.

"So, what do you think?" Selera asked shyly. She wanted to run away because of the embarrassing words she had just spoken, but she still had to hear his answer.

"Well, I—" Before Daniel could reject her, suddenly Rynor contacted him through their mental link. His voice sounded completely distorted and damaged.

"What?!" Daniel’s voice burst out in anger after hearing what had happened, killing intent flooding his eyes.

He had just heard that Rynor and Ilaris had been attacked—and while Rynor was beaten nearly to death, Ilaris had been kidnapped!
