Back to 1984: Let's Work Hard Together to Raise The Kids!
Chapter 104: Lin Qin "Falls Ill
CHAPTER 104: CHAPTER 104: LIN QIN "FALLS ILL
Huang Yuezhen was stunned and refused without a second thought, "Uncle, why are you giving me money? I don’t want it!"
Lin Yi insisted on giving it to her, "You’ve been working hard these past half month, and those lotus roots sold really well. Ah Qin gave me all the money. This is what you deserve. Keep it, and rest for a few days before we start harvesting the rice. It’ll be even more tiring!
If you don’t take it, I’ll feel bad asking you to do so much!"
After both of them insisted for a while, Huang Yuezhen finally accepted the money, determined to work even harder.
Around two in the afternoon, Lin Yi came back after sending the two kids to school and found that Chen Wenjun and Lin Qin hadn’t left yet, which surprised him.
Just as he was about to go upstairs to check, he saw Chen Wenjun and Lin Qin coming down one after the other.
Lin Qin didn’t look well.
Chen Wenjun said worriedly to Lin Yi, "Dad! Can I borrow your bicycle for a while? I want to take Ah Qin to the hospital. She’s feeling unwell."
Lin Yi’s face tensed and he got anxious immediately, "What’s wrong? Has she been too exhausted recently?"
Chen Wenjun pursed his lips, looking worriedly at Lin Qin, "It’s possible. She just mentioned feeling dizzy, extremely tired, with nothing else wrong. A clinic won’t help in this situation; it’s safer to go to the hospital."
Lin Yi immediately ran back to his room and gave Chen Wenjun a hundred yuan, "Take it, get a proper check-up at the hospital, don’t rush about making money."
The couple agreed promptly and left.
From Nanyu to the city hospital by bicycle was fairly quick.
After registering, the couple first went to the emergency room.
As soon as they sat down, the doctor registered Lin Qin’s information and asked straightforwardly, "Where are you feeling unwell?"
Lin Qin pursed her lips and answered carefully, "I’m dizzy and feel very tired, like I could sleep. I have no energy, but I assure you, there’s no cold or fever."
The doctor didn’t listen to her and first took her temperature, checked her throat and tongue coating, then took her pulse.
Seeing Lin Qin’s temperature was normal, he directly issued an order for her to have a blood test.
Chen Wenjun was instantly worried, "Doctor, is my wife okay?"
The doctor pondered, "Whether there’s a problem or not will be clear once the test results are out. You should go for a blood test and rest well. Come to collect the report tomorrow afternoon."
During Lin Qin’s blood test, Chen Wenjun was even more nervous than her. After it was done, he quickly helped Lin Qin out of the hospital.
On the way, they didn’t say a word, Lin Qin didn’t think much and leaned on his back, closing her eyes.
When the bicycle stopped, she opened her eyes and found they had arrived at Ancient Street.
Chen Wenjun parked the bicycle and took Lin Qin inside a shop to buy items like red dates, brown sugar, instant noodles, malt milk essence for her health.
Back on the bicycle, Lin Qin questioned, "Why did you buy these things?"
Chen Wenjun replied seriously, "You had so much blood drawn today, you’re already weak, you need a proper supplement. Don’t go out these days, I can handle the business alone. If not, Dad can help. We can ask our cousin to send the kids to school in the morning, so just rest well and don’t bother about other things."
Something inside Lin Qin was touched by this and she subconsciously tightened her hands on Chen Wenjun’s waist, leaning against his back, speaking word by word, "Besides my dad and my sister, only you care for me like this, Wenjun, it’s so good to have met you!"
Listening to this, Chen Wenjun felt nothing but deep heartache, "Silly, we’re married; we’re supposed to spend a lifetime together. In the past life, we didn’t manage to live well, so in this life, we can’t let heaven’s kindness go to waste.
As I recall, you didn’t have any issues at this time in the past life, and I’m sure it’s nothing serious now, probably just exhaustion. Checking up gives us peace of mind, don’t overthink."
"Hmm."
Lin Qin’s voice was soft, relying heavily on Chen Wenjun.
The two returned to Nanyu, Lin Yi and Huang Yuezhen found out Lin Qin had several tubes of blood drawn and worried excessively.
They hurried Lin Qin to rest in her room.
Lin Yi turned and began preparing brown sugar water for Lin Qin.
Seeing his eyes red, Huang Yuezhen quickly comforted him, "Uncle, Ah Qin’s health has always been good, it’s nothing. Just think of it as a check-up and a few days of rest."
Lin Yi nodded gloomily.
He boiled something for Lin Qin and brought it to her, then had to go out to fetch the kids.
Huang Yuezhen continued working.
When the two kids got home and learned Lin Qin was sick, they were extremely worried, taking turns to care for her.
"Mom, I’ll sing for you! That way, you won’t feel bad." Yaya’s face was pale, her eyes filled with fear, worry, and dread.
Ping’an handed Lin Qin a cup of brown sugar water, "Mom, drink water."
Faced with the kids’ concern, Lin Qin felt even warmer, taking the cup according to their wishes and listened to Yaya’s song, clapping heartily.
"Okay, once mom sleeps it will be fine. Finish your homework, then have dinner, dad won’t be back until seven, he’ll be delivering goods tonight so he can’t care for you. I’ll be fine after two days of rest."
Lin Qin smiled at the kids as they went out.
Because of Lin Qin’s discomfort, no one had much energy.
Finally getting through to the next afternoon, unable to wait, Chen Wenjun took Lin Qin early to the city hospital to collect the report.
Both were silent, apprehensive on the way.
When the time came for the report, Chen Wenjun’s hand shook, he didn’t dare to look and directly took the report to the doctor.
The couple felt like criminals waiting for judgment during the doctor’s examination of the report, their hearts nearly jumping out.
After reading it carefully, the doctor told Lin Qin, "It’s almost certainly pregnancy, go for an ultrasound to check the baby’s condition."
Both were stunned, eyes wide open.
Even upon arriving at the ultrasound room, they hadn’t recovered.
Outside, Chen Wenjun waited anxiously, counting the minutes which felt long and torturous.
The door to the ultrasound room opened.
Chen Wenjun immediately approached, "What did the doctor say?"
Lin Qin glanced behind her, led Chen Wenjun to the side and whispered, "The report hasn’t come yet, we’ll know after the doctor sees it."
They patiently waited again.
After all the hassle, it was past four when they left the hospital, too late to return to Nanyu and return the bike to Lin Yi.
Chen Wenjun simply took Lin Qin to the city experimental primary school to pick up the kids.
Seeing him smile occasionally, Lin Qin couldn’t help but laugh, "Why do you look so silly?"
Chen Wenjun laughed more foolishly, "I’m just happy!"
He said, his gaze falling on Lin Qin’s flat belly, filled with anticipation, "This child is heaven’s gift to us. The doctor said just now, the first three months the fetus is unstable, avoid overwork. The dizziness was due to excessive fatigue, thankfully both you and the baby are okay."
Lin Qin, remembering the doctor’s words, felt a little scared, "Don’t worry, I’ll be careful from now on. I won’t let myself get exhausted."
Chen Wenjun was still worried and pondered, "Next time, when I go to South Port to wholesale seafood in the morning, I should just go with your dad. Let our cousin handle sending the kids to school. In the afternoon, I can go to South Port alone, you can just cook at home, or wait for us to return if you don’t feel like doing anything."
